The guy who logged our gun club recently was running a tired Franklin with a screaming mimi under the hood. It was music to my ears and brought me back to my youth! Thank You for sharing!
I run a Clark 668 with a 6.53 in it for 4.5 years...I loved every minute of it, hearing the sounds of that engine screaming, took me back to the early 80's.
Wow thanks for bringing back memories. My brother and i use to log together in our younger years. He cut and i operated our Timberjack 208D with a 353 Detroit. I sure miss those days. 😢
Love that sound! Ran one for many years back in the 80s. Tip for you, if you wind the winch cable onto the spool back and forth ( like you would on a fishing reel) your cable wont kink up and it will last 10X longer! Good luck!
This is the same skidder I ran in northern B.C. In 1983. Worked at the top of Williston Lake outside of Mackenzie. Love this kind of work, honest work. Choking logs out in the bush.
My "Dad's" 230 (currently owned by the "Tetrault" family in V.T.) Saved my "Life" on the 'ol #12 Rd. after I CUT my knee for the last hitch! Chains & ALL over the dirt / asphalt roads to the R/R Trax to the V.T.F.D. ! SHE SAVED My LIFE!
I really need something with a Detroit in it. I almost bought a generator with a 2-71, but settled on something with a Perkins, so I won't drive my neighbors nuts when the power goes out. Way too hard to keep them quiet in a neighborhood. I'd love a 4-53T in a pickup truck.
Started on a 225a when I was 13. Over 50 years in hardwood logging. Moved around 2.5 to 3 million board feet a year with a 5 man crew. Just 2 skidders, a JD450tc dozer and a 210c Prentice knuckle boom. I've run a lot of 225s, and 240s. But man, your awfully hard on the skidder and chokers aren't ya? Draggin logs on the ground? Don't want em in the plate but damn...not on the ground either. Your hard on the woods too. Hook on and pull like hell. I guess you might as well bring the whole woods with ya and turn it into a field while your there. Just knock it all down and while your pulling over everything in the woods. And I guess it's fun pulling mainline out of a damn Hercules winch on FLAT ground! Lol... Try just backing up to the butts drop the mainline right on the logs and hook the chokers on. On flat ground you shouldn't have to pull more than 10 feet! You waist a ton of time. Why pull your mainline plumb out to the end? I ain't dragging 100ft of mainline if I don't have to! Oh...your cutter is leaving half the footage on the stump for some reason. If I had a cutter leaving stumps like that I'd throw a tree on him. I chase his ass out of my woods. That's a lot of footage just left there on a stump over a year for no reason. Your there...take it to the ground. You couldn't work hardwood. Youd go broke and after leaving your first woods torn all to hell you'd never have anyone sell their woods to you again. But on the positive side of things.... Beavers like you make Loggers like me look good. I'll leave you to chewing up whatever unfortunate woods your destroying next. FYI... Find something else to do.
I couldn't stand that noise all day no wonder you have ear muffs on, might be one reason for Timberjack down fall. How come your bringing out the whole tree? nice video thanks for sharing.
Bonus the crap out of that little stuff bud!! Doesn't Pay to show up at the landing with out a full turn! That machine should pull at least 4, 24"×40' logs.. stuff the chokers full.. production is the name of the game 👍😁
You southern folk sure do get firewood in a strange way. Me, I fall the tree, buck the fucker where it lay, drive the quad n trailer up beside, load up n go home. That Detroit does sound good though; reminds me of my dad's sawmill many years ago. Had a 6v71 upstairs for the headsaw and an 8V71 downstairs for the 8" bull edger. I could hear that fucker from in town near five miles out. I could tell what that sawmill was doing by ear. Take er easy eh?

Not going to lie, the sound of that old Detroit gives me a chub

That sound floods me with memories. It sounds great. We had one just like it.
Got to love the sound of an old Detroit. Straight pipe would sound awesome but be extremely hard to run it consistently but I still would
It is amazing how well the 353 yanks big bundles of logs. Love your channel.

That 353 is just a singing. You will have the wood shed full in no time.
Almost seems like cheating 🤣🍻👍
@@lukestrasser didn't you know that is why he married Katie......

We’re rebuilding a 353t from one of these at work now
Nothing like the scream of a 2 stroke Detroit while it works.
the scream of those detroit diesel engines echoing through the forest always creeped me the hell out as a kid
There sound is awesome 👌

Hey some guy was logging the south section of your property close to me. Don't worry if I see the robber I'll dispatch him for you!
alot of states banning older skidders due to emissions and detroits tops the list
They are trying to ban firearms too. They aren't getting either. 👍
Oops like a good load of pulp. Popal and all. Where do you send to?
Yep, that’s a Detroit!
love it
Love my 225 E TJ
Oh fuck yah bud!!

Where is this. ..? Is your forest. ?
Minnesota
Yeah baby!
You need to put up some bleachers and sell tickets! Nothing sounds as good as a two stroke detroit.
@Flasher Trasher What does it have straight pipes on it? Must be poor mufflers at best.
Which is louder for you, the 3-53 or the Husqy? Looks like a 455?
She's just fuckin screamin. Sounds great once you let her open up.
Отличная работа.
She sounds beautiful.

Looks like a lot of residual stand damage to me. Must be new at it.
Its going into pasture not looking to save any of the young stand. 👍🍻

I bet that ole sawmill really barked. 👍🍻
@@RickBork Oh shit yes. I could tell if the headsaw bit into a big log, or the edger did. The whole damn town heard that old beast!
show us that 4 speed
👍
Pulp wood
Damn noisy detroits LOL or is that a Jimmy
Yes, Detroit diesel = General Motors Diesel = GM = Jimmy.
First of all I wouldn't pull all the rejen over and I would wench it in it pulls easier
Clearing that land for pasture. Pulling the regen over is intentional. 👍🍻
I hated those screamin jimmys.. give me a JD any day..!
