Memories are stirred by this video. I was matched very soon after this video ends. TF chose me to be next for the matching. I was standing between the brothers and sisters. TF said something to the 3 plane loads (300) Japanese sisters waiting to be matched and they all covered their mouths and laughed a while pointing at me while TF, Rev Pak, Mr Kamiyama all laughing as well and I'm red as a firetruck. Unforgettable! Things settled down and TF became very serious. TF asked several sisters to pull their hair back so he could see their foreheads. He finally ask my "eternal match" to show her forehead. She had her head down an was surprised. "Who me?" Pointing at her nose. TF started to go on to another sister but decide this sister should be my matching. I so hope to find the video of this. I still don't know what TF said.
I was raised in this church. God helped me to find my way out of it. I believe Moon was held back in many ways from the truth. It's not right to put 2 people together and require them to live together forever. I don't think Moon considered the implications of his actions. I remember the day I was matched by him. The woman I was paired with rejected one after another Korean man that was offered to her by picture. When Moon saw that she wouldn't be matched to any, he pointed in my general direction. There was me and 3 other men standing there. Then one of Moon's guides directed us to step forward. No one else would so I did. I walked away confused. Moon didn't even look at me. What if it was the wrong match? I knew in my heart she was not the one for me after spending a little time with her. I only continued with it for fear of doing the wrong thing. When I finally broke it off, which was the right thing to do, my mother said I was sinning and guilted me into recanting. I wish someone was there to steer me in the right direction.
I saw the survey results of one of these matchings fifteen years after the event, and 85% of the couples were still together. Of course, as more years go on, that number probably decreases further.
@@grai Earlier in the conversation I cited an internal survey done by the church itself. I don't know of any sociologist who has done a longitudinal study of these marriages. If you are one, perhaps you could undertake this as a research project.
