I was born and raised in Bingo. I moved away in search of more opportunity. But, I still like to get home once in a while. Videos like this help when I get homesick. Thanks.
This was fun. I lived in Binghamton from 1962 to 1980, on North Floral - a dead-end street, behind P.J.'s Bar & Grille (on the corner of Floral & Main), and surrounded by empty lots, Olum's warehouse, and Binghamton Steel & Fab. Co. I did a lot of growing up there and have a lot of memories to include: First Ward pool, C.F.J. pool, Sharkey's, West Jr. H.S., BCHS, Mt. Prospect, the West Side, Grand Blvd, downtown Binghamton BEFORE THE MALL WAS BUILT it was bustling with people, and the old Strand and Riviera theaters on Chenango St, the Jarvis theater on Main St. where you could see a double-feature for 35 cents, and the Sun theater on Glenwood St where admission was only 10 cents! Oh, man, this brought back so many memories... Thanks, I think... Hahaha...
I came across your video on a whim. "I wonder if someone"....... My gratitude for giving me, and others, who have left for a multitude of reasons and lengths of time, the opportunity to see our beautiful hometown. Myself included. I can see the improvements that have been made, what businesses are still there, and shed a tear over the loss of the old massive Main St. apt. where my daughter and I first lived. I wish I had a slow motion button on my remote, lol!! Thank you again. I look forward to watching more.
If Albany, attracted more business and factories to the area, it would thrive. So many empty buildings once had factories that either, closed or shipped overseas. I really miss shopping at Wegmans.
We have a Dem Senator now, maybe we will get some money. The last guy thought his job was to get our police money instead of revitalizing the whole area. The guy prior was only interested in getting his family jobs and fancy cars in Democrat cities. Maybe electing a member of the party in charge will help.

@@fgpalm It was still there when I lived on Chapin/North in the mid/late '10s. I thought even when I left the area in 2019, although I could be wrong about that since I rarely went down that way when I moved to Floral. But they definitely stuck around long after the Little Giant a block away closed down after Weis took over in 2009. Not really a big loss since there are a crazy number of CVS stores in the area. But that area is starting to be in the same boat as the East Side that constantly complained about having no access to groceries. They lost 2 Giant/Weis stores within 6 years And yet I never hear politicians bring up the need to get a supermarket there. Price Chopper is obviously close. but for people closer to Riverside or Leroy who don't have a car, that is similar to those complaining that the Robinson Weis is too far for them to walk if they live off Chenango. (Not that that small CVS was a good substitute for a grocery store to begin with.) Hell..that corner outside that CVS was the last street pay phone in the area. It had one a good way into the '10s. Just a standalone, outdoor payphone.

I don’t know if you’ve ever been to the forum theater downtown but that’s really beautiful inside
@@fgpalm ... Nope. I don't recall the Forum. What street was it on? When was it built?
@@thomasklugh4345 it’s on Washington street
@Frank Palmisano Oh how I remember the Forum. I used to volunteer as an usher. What a glorious theater to this then, teenager's wish to act.

When did the CVS at Main and Chapin close?
I feel like it was a very long time ago
