- I had a couple of vacation days to burn, so I loaded up and paddled upstream on Cotaco Creek and setup camp for 3-days and 2-nights of rest and relaxation! Come along and watch me kill some time out in the woods. #camping #canoe #hammockcamping
Love your videos
Thank you very much, Brittany!!
This was so much fun! Thanks for taking us along! 😁
Thanks, Glenna! It's been cold here (as you know), but I'm ready to go again...lol!!
@@SouthernPaddler We’ve had temps in the 60’s here in NM. Just missed all the bad weather. 😅
@@GlennaRedcliffe LOL- nice. I believe you mentioned that in a recent video!! 😁
Awesome video!!!!....watch out for sasquach!!!!...LOL
Ba, ha, ha- it was a little corny, I know. :-D I can't help myself sometimes- lol. Thanks Cyrus and hope you have a fantastic 2024!!
Another fun adventure video, thanks for sharing Dan!
Hey Dewey! Yes, this was a nice, relaxing outing. I'm ready to go again...lol! Thanks, bro!!
Enjoyed the video. Keep up coming 😀👍✝️
Thanks, brother! Several days in God's creation is good for my soul! :-)
Been enjoying your channel this year, and bought my first kayak! Thanks so much Dan for sharing the joy, hardships, and blessing of spending time in the greatness of creation with you. We can slow down, and gain a real perspective of life, and our smallness in the beauty of the places untouched by people. Blessings to you in 2024
kayak = freedom ...congrats on the purchase!
Agreed!!
That's so awesome- congrats on the kayak, Barry! Yes, it's not always "peaches and rainbows"...lol. But even the challenging times help you adjust and grow. But I believe it is, beyond any doubt, rewarding and replenishing the majority of the time. That's what keeps me getting back out into Creation!! Blessings to you as wall in 2024, brother!!
Great trip, Dan. That solar panel looks like a great piece of gear.
Thanks, John! It's a must-carry for trips over a day (for me)!!
Watched alot of your videos and each one offers a new perspective and i like finding new places to go. I've done the flint river multiple times, terrapin creek, locust fork which is near me and five mile. Also several different places in Tennessee. Always look forward to a new video. I haven't kayacked camped yet but ive been slowly getting my things together and plan to do that soon.
Hey Nathan- Thank you very much! There are a lot of places to go in North Alabama. If you're near Locust Fork then check out Big Wills Creek if you haven't already- that's great float! Let me know how your first kayak camping trip goes. Those are so much fun!!
@SouthernPaddler yes I've done that one twice also river Beach outfitters is about 15 minutes from my house. I usually paddle by myself but occasionally get a coworker to go with me..
Looks like a great time
Thanks, Dave! It really was!!
Another good one Dan👊
Mountain House biscuits and gravy with some hot sauce is the reason I carry around 50lbs of extra weight I can't seem to get rid of.😂
LOL!! Thanks, Mark! Yes, and again, why I like taking my 16ft canoe. I can carry all the food I want- Ha, ha!! :-D
I really would love to have another canoe again but I'm not sure I would be able to find the time to use it very much these days. And also, since you use a great deal of the dehydrated meals, there's a cheap and easy way to make a pouch to keep them much warmer when they rehydrate. You can buy an aluminized material called reflectix and cut it big enough to fold it over and make a pouch big enough for your meal to go inside. Then use the shiny metal tape, or even duct tape will do to seal the sides up. And make sure you leave enough on one side to make a flap to tuck into the pouch, so your meal stays nice and hot in the 10 minutes it takes to rehydrate. Makes a big difference on cold days. Another dehydrated meal company you may want to try is Packit Gourmet. They are pricey, but some of the best I have had.
Great idea, Michael! I've heard of folks using reflectix for sleeping insulation, but hadn't heard the pouch idea. I'll look into the Packet Gourmet. Thanks, brother!!
Nice to end the year on the water.
Thank you and agreed! On the water and/or just outdoors in general! It's tough to beat (as you know)!!
fun trip to unwind and relax ! we all could benefit from a trip like that. my fingers do the same thing , i use o'keefes working hands or duke cannon bloody knuckles.
Thanks Brian! I've had several recommend O'Keefes. I need to give that a try!!
man i need a canoe!!!
I love mine!! It keeps me from having to be an efficient packer...lol! I'm just thankful I never have to portage...ha, ha!!!!
@@SouthernPaddler hahaha so true!!!
What a great way to end the year with this video Dan. It looks like you really enjoy yourself out there. Sorry to hear about your foot problems man. I know what you went through with that. When I am out kayaking by myself my wife will always be Checking in on me to see how my feet 🦶 & toes are doing since I have Damaged nerves & muscles in my leg & feet 🦶 & toes now. I am glad you had a good time man for the last of 2023. I am looking forward to 2024 with you & i love what you do on your channel man. I would love to get together with you on a kayak trip with you & my with my 6 boys cuz they love your channel too & would love to kayaking. Good video brother thanks you for sharing this video.
Thanks so much, Mack! That cold weather is hard on the hands and feet, for sure! Thanks for all your support in the past and I hope you and your family get to enjoy many more adventures this year. Maybe we can meet up one day! Thanks, my friend!!
Watch out for those beavers! They are pretty territorial. I've never been chased by them but I've had them launch from the shore in front of my kayak while moving a couple times.
Oh wow! Yes, they seem to have a pretty poor disposition to humans...more than most animals...lol! Thanks, bro!!
Great video, my type of getaway peaceful and quiet. Maybe we can meet up this year for an overnight trip.
Thanks, Jito! Yes, peace and quiet cannot be beat in my opinion!! Maybe we can meet on the water someday soon! Paddle on, brother!!
Great video I would like to be with you.
I am in Trussville.
Hey John- I've done a couple of trips in your area- Cahaba River, Talladega Creekside Resort and Big Canoe Creek. Maybe we can meet up sometime!!
