    I'm going to give this a try. I broke my favorite coffee mug by forgetting it in.... the freezer. Thankfully it didn't break up to much. Just two fragments from the bottom and a crack up the side.
    I'm looking forward on trying your method.

      A word of warning - it does say on the packet "do not use to repair or bond items that will contact food or drink".... So if you plan to carry on using the mug, and the glue is going to come into contact with the coffee, then I don't think this is a good idea.

    I disagree.
    UHU Power is what I use. Fixed a large bowl last month, broken into 7 pieces, made it water-tight.Thinner joins than you have so I ended up with the pieces being less than a millimetre out of alignment overall.

    Thanks for the video, however, it would have been helpful if you mentioned what you were repairing. I thought it was a toilet tank. Do you know if this glue is waterproof and will stand up in the part of the toilet bowl which does not have contact with water unless there might be a leak which would be immediately noticed?

    • @CharlieDIYte

      I was mending a bread bin. I wouldn't rely on this for a toilet tank or bowl. Repairing something like that is going to be problematic but I suggest you Google epoxy type resins that are designed for the purpose.

      This epoxy is very strong, Elizabeth, but tricky to do an invisible repair with as it's quite thick and gloupy. Have a look at what ceramic super glues there are at your local DIY store, and maybe try with that.

    Can i usethis glue to join the plaster handcasts to the wooden shadow box??n how much time ths glue takes to dry?do i need to put pressure??

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  7 років тому

      Tell me a bit more about this job - I'm not sure what you mean by the plaster handcasts and wooden shadow box. This glue is suitable for metal, wood, masonry, ceramic, glass dry concrete, chipboard, leather, cardboard, fabric, rubber and most plastics (except polyethylene, polypropylene, Teflon). If you are going to use this, the handcasts must be dust free.
      The parts (your plaster hand cast and shadow box) would be repositionable for 4 minutes. You have to apply light pressure to the joint until set (clamps or tape) for around 20 minutes. It attains full strength within 2 hours.

    Hello Charlie, I was trying to fit a wash basin to the wall by drilling through the fixing holes and managed to break both sides. I can no longer screw the basin to the wall.Can I use this glue to fix the two broken pieces back and will it be strong enough to hold the basin,which is resting on a pedalstal,against the wall?

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  4 роки тому +2

      What happened? Were you trying to enlarge the holes? You could try this stuff but I'm not sure it will be strong enough. Has it split the hole in half? In which case you could buy some washers and the washer will grab half of the hole? Maybe send me a picture to charliediyte@gmail.com so I can understand the damage a little better and then give you some targeted ideas.

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  6 років тому

      You may need to get a pro in to fix it - they can do pretty good, near invisible repairs. Something similar happened to us on the belfast sink in our kitchen - big chunk came off it and I used an epoxy filler from Plastic Padding to glue it back into place - fine for us but the damage is very obvious but this might be more suitable goo.gl/54hf9R If the enamel is white you'll stand a reasonable chance of doing a decent repair. If your sink isn't white it's going to be more tricky..

    can you glue a broken toilet tank lid with this?

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  7 років тому

      Yüksel Hassan I don't see why not. How strong the repair will be will depend on the thickness of the plastic you're glueing together - as if the two pieces are very thin the surface area for the glue to adhere to will be very small and so the join may not be that good. If on the other hand they are quite thick then you have a good chance.
      You will need to be careful not to apply too much glue as if it squeezes out on top of the lid, it may be hard to clean off, being plastic.

    • @TheYuksel66
      @TheYuksel66 7 років тому

      Thank you, but the lid is a thick ceramic or whatever they make toilets tanks these days cheers

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  7 років тому +1

      Ha! I don't know why I assumed it was plastic!! Then yes, this glue would definitely work.
      The other glue you might look at is this www.gorillatough.com/gorilla-glue . I've heard a lot of good things about it but haven't tried it myself yet. If you do use Gorilla Glue, you will need to damp the two surfaces first (as it is cured with moisture) and apply only a very thin bead as it expands 3-4 times whilst curing! You will also need to find a good way to grip the two parts of the toilet tank lid together for 1-2 hours whilst it sets, and be prepared to trim off the excess that has expanded out of the join, once it's set.

It does leak and I just filled the chipped area with some clear epoxy and used my finger to wipe some along the crack. Will sand everything flush once it cures. Is this repairable? Ty

    • @CharlieDIYte
      @CharlieDIYte  6 років тому +1

      Hi James, I think there are some repair kits out there, eg ua-cam.com/video/cVKk-Iel5K0/v-deo.html but it's quite an involved process that is a bit more technical than just buying a tube of epoxy, and you may need to open up the hairline crack a bit to ensure that you get a sufficient amount of the repair epoxy in there. If you are going sand, remember to use the right sand paper - eg start on 200, go up to 800 and finish on 2000 grit (I warned you it was pretty involved!) Good luck!
