i can remember sneaking round stratford on a saturday afternoon trying hard not to get caught by the depot forman always remember the cockney sparrow on the locos happy days indeed & gone for ever old oak common was always good fun as well thanks for uploading
Its a long time lost this , i had given up and found it by accident , the locos are being refuled and prepared for sundays workings ballast etc , so i was told by a worker . The noise was deafening , i had recorded some things earlier in the station , and took a chance that no one would bother as long as i kept out of the way , it was pretty slippery with leaking fuel and pipes everywhere but you did get some amazing things , everytime i stopped recording one of the 37s was started up...thanks .
Ivsolutions....You are very welcome im just glad people still want to see these videos , i think i found some workings from Wandsworth Road as well today but will need to check and see if i have uploaded them....The depot i weent round 4 time maybe five and once in a car ...crazy ...Took pics as well ...one day will get round to doing one of those picture videos ....thanks again....ian
@HSTHoward Saturday morning at Stratford depot , that morning there were a few there , getting ready for the ballast trains , good days gone forever , dam olympics thanks once more...ian
its a shame theres not more footage of this depot, my grandad used to work there from when the second world war ended til the eighties when he retired. ive fond memories when he used to take me to work with him occasionally.
somethings wrong with my answer box so im doing it like this Bish66 hope you had a great holiday still need to tell me how Clan Line trip went , you lucky man wr is pretty quiet ive not got back into the swing of things yey ..still gives me time to do these things again...keep well....ian.
..yeh, what a great place it was indeed...used to go there a lot ~ back in the 80's & 90's...you could always guarantee to find quite a few of those " ones you wanted " lurking around there somewhere..!!! .such a shame it has all gone now..& been turned into a shopping site....but then again..if it did still exist, what would one find there nowadays..just rows and rows of frigging boring units..??
Anyone remember the tunnel into the depot, used to poke about there in the 60s, in those days so many steam locos languishing on shed awaiting scrapping. Never got caught or thrown out luckily.
Great film!most enjoyable,I went 3 weeks before the whole placed closed down! I fitter and 1 driver in The mess room!very sad!many hundreds used to book on there In its heyday!
@FlanMangler Thanks long time ago lost video i had found nothing left of stratford . the olympic stadium was built there plus others ....thanks .....ian
My idea was to look at all my hi8 videos from the past and clean then up re encode them and make them longer and better than when i first joined youtube. then i was limited to 9mins for every file . as i still have all the original shot tapes , some parts were missed or not used . Some remain its just working out what . i also have french recordings as well . but what remains is the same workings as ive uploaded but with different locos on..That was on the end of a tape just a lucky find.
@jhoboken The ghost of Stratford Depot returns . just wish i had gone more often instead of Willesden Junction seduced by the dark side i was , but no good for video filming ...thank you mine captain.....ian
EMuksteam ...No way cutters torch ....are they not out your way in a underground cave beside all the missing scrap steam locomotives , Waiting to return once someone puts the mockers on Gm and their 66s , well i would like to think that thanks....ian.

@CoachAlex1996 I resubbed hope it works ive been having trouble with youtube since just before christmas , i did hear on a program that they were struggling with all of the videos they were being sent , my answer box would vanish , or my new videos would be corrupted hope you get it sorted out.....ian

..and to think these kind of sights were common once. It's nice to see filthy overworked classic traction in vast numbers again. An easy like...Keith
I always quite liked that Railfreight Distribution livery... Nice variation on your sectorisation 2-Tone Grey... Great vid, ta!

ive fond memories when he used to take me to work with him occasionally.
my dad worked there during the early sixties
Sad to see a once bustling and proud shed reduced to this. A collection of dirty run down engines!
So many 37's and 47's.... Those really were the days!!
nice audio, the compressors ticking away etc.,lovely
Excellent shots mate
