Bobby conducted his first TX All-Region band this past fall and I was in it. He's so eloquent and spontaneous! I would love to meet him again.

I wished I could've been drum major, but being one of two sousaphones, that wasn't really an option for me :(

Same issue here. I'm the ONLY Junior Horn players, with no Seniors and accompanied by 3 Freshman and 2 Rookies. I wish you luck, friend. I understand your pain.

Dylan Skinner My band is only around 25 people, so I am literally the only brass player not graduating, but I'm going to be drum major this year. RIP our brass section. It's literally nonexistent so far. Hopefully we'll get some new freshmen.

I'm trying out. We estimate to have 20 sousaphone players next year but we only have 12 instruments so I'm hoping that gives me an added advantage in that aspect.

Hadee Alhassanawi Omg, 20? How big is your band? That's literally 1/3 of our band.

    This is helpful.
I'm trying to be my highschool's Junior Drum Major, and I've wanted to be Drum Major ever since my brother started band. He's 2 years older than me and 3 grades ahead. Of course, it's really hard because I've never done anything like this before, but I believe that I can do it!

A real drum major must be able to play an instrument and read music. Anything less and your not a real drum major. Same goes for baton twirlers. You must be able to play an instrument and read music.

cosmic voyager We aren’t just “baton twirlers” we are colorguard. We use flags, hoops, canes, ribbon, rifles, Sabres, airblades, batons, fire batons, etc. (basically anything the band would hurt themselves trying to use) and guess what, I’m gonna learn how to play an instrument to tryout for drum major in a couple years so suck on that 🐕

Why is this relevant to the video, though? Yes, it's true, but no one said anything related to this whatsoever. Very quirky indeed.
