I'm not sure what to make of this video. As a sim player with a 4090 who is considering moving from a Crystal to a Super, the main thing (and really only thing) I'm really interesed in is whether my *overall experience* will be better in the Super. The only useful information in this video is that two popular "demo" titles that currently run at 90fps on my Crystal will run in the 60s or 70s on the Super, but doesn't give me any real sense about how my overall experience will be improved. If perhaps another video could be produced that does this kind of comparison, that would be great! For example, if a single VR-experienced individual sat down and compared titles like these (as well as some sims) after fine-tuning/optimizing them for both Crystal and a Super on a 4090, would the Super be an easy overall win or just offer a different mix of compromises with no clear winner?
The most important info here is 100% on the Crystal Super is 6420x7412. You can set the rendering resolution to (roughly) that resolution regardless of what VR headset you're currently running and see what performance you'll get on your current hardware with any game you like. @@SargonDragon I don't think that's true . If you take this factor into account you should be getting around 90/2.5 equals 36 fps but instead the average fps is around 67 as in the benchmark. There's some detail still missing in the benchmark else the performance seems almost double than my vive pro 2. 67 is almost double of 36
@@abhishekKumar-sg6pc I think you're missing my point. Try running your rendering resolution at ~6420x7412 and see what you actually get. This is a function of the GPU, not the VR headset. Well, with Kayak VR + QuadViews today, I run at 90fps on my 4090 with killer high res in the foveated center on my Crystal. So my real question with the Super (which, for the moment, I have on pre-order), is how the overall experience will compare. Will it be a "wow" upgrade, or just feel like a different set of compromises; and will it be worth what looks like a rather steep cost in fps to get that experience?

Will we get an in depth look at DFR and when and how it can be utilised. As far as I know very few games have it available, so will it be effectively useless if games such as Microsoft flight simulator still don't have it?
Pimax support it on the driver level, so a lot of games that don't have official DFR support can still take advantage of it. You can try a reading text with the crystal light at 100% or 75% you get the same result cause the limitation is sub-pixel.
@@martintop2605 5090 definitely won’t be able to max out the Super but I’m expecting it to be capable of running higher than PCL native
@@martintop2605 You're correct about displays looking best at native resolution (or a pixel perfect 2x2, ie. 4x mode) but it doesn't work that way with VR headsets due to the lenses, distortion profiles, and other reasons therefore ignore the whole "native resolution looks best" thing when it comes to VR.
"China has been generous" Sorry I had to say
What a poor review! Test A Game/Games where this Vr-Headset will be used (like DCS, Iracing, ....) and not that shit. Ill think we can assume that also with a RTX 5090 you want get over 60 fps in DCS for example.
DCS DCS DCS 💪
Foveated eye tracked rendering is needed. This is no use.
over 10% of this video is the intro.
22 seconds of actual content.
VIDEO STARTS AT @1:08

@@JaapGrollemanthis is a great response 😂
1:41 with actual hard content is pretty good by todays YT standards tho.
Thx Calvin
RTX2060? No one with such graphic card runs VR on their 🖥️ PCs with intentions for Pimax Super … are you guys detached from reality for good ?🤦🏻♂️
it probably more to prove that it CAN run on a 2060, not that it is normal
@ this is 1800$ device so be realistic and show what it is capable of without any 🐂 shitting and we will buy it😛 we need technology + good software to ensure good performance! If you can deliver you will be rewarded and well paid!
Come on, if you're not benchmarking games like MSFS DCS, at least you should include the scores with crystal og/light for comparison? This is an almost pointless benchmark
hahaha what a useless video, do a comparison with serious games. you know what, don't do anything, that would be the best.
