The 5.7x28 round was developed by FN to be a higher performing replacement for the aging 9mm round and was originally meant for use in the P90 Personal Defense Weapon (PDW), a bullpup style machine gun FN also developed. The intent of the PDW system and the ammo was to allow for more firepower for military personal not typically equipped with a full size rifle. A pistol using the same ammo was then also developed by FN, the FN 5.7. The ammo itself uses a smaller bullet (5.7mm vs 9mm) at higher chamber pressures to increase velocity. The higher velocity and lower bullet weight allows it to have superior energy on target than 9mm while at the same time having less recoil. The debate on if this is successful has been ongoing since its development however.
what is a 5.7 bullet ? Sorry I havent heard of it.

I like the price but without a manual safety option it's not the gun for me.
I would like a safety as well, but it is still a great gun.
