There are a lot of videos on youtube on the subject of "is a particular camera good enough for today". If the camera is functioning properly, then it's good enough for any day.
Man I love this camera, my favorite camera. I have a few of them, I buy them damaged and fix them. Unfortunately, this is one of the most fragile cameras out there, I've seen broken units at less than 10,000 shots. There are two wheels inside the shutter that break even without the camera being used simply from aging. I still don't have a d200, but I think they take the same photos, but the d200 is stronger and better made. Another common problem is the battery, it has a chip in it that fails, and even though the battery cells are healthy, the battery is non-functional. Despite all that I love this camera, it takes unrealistic pictures, I think art shouldn't be realistic, this camera creates art, a window to a dream world. The photos are somewhat hazy, like in a fog, it's a feeling and it's hard to explain. That's why I like how you start the video with fog, dreams are like that, not completely clear, not realistic. Modern cameras are too realistic and shoot sharp with a lot of detail, they create tension in the mind, I'm tired of them. I really want to try the d100, looking on the Internet I see that it takes such dreamy photos. I will look on your channel to see if you did a d100 review, if you have such a video or in the future you decide to do one, I will be happy to watch it :)
I guess that explains why the battery I got with it was completely dead, even though the camera was well below 10000. The D80 I got is overall very little used, so I hope it doesn't develop that problem. I actually have a D100 video from the autumn, I liked the photos from it, so I think I will go shoot with it again when the weather improves a bit!. Thank you very much for watching and for your very insightful comment!
@@mikaelrphoto Almost at the end of Switzerland trip and this camera has been amazing. Right before leaving I found a used Tamron 18-200 for $80. Proof that one can get into photography with very little money.
Still a good DSLR, nowadays, and the coming years. The problem with people nowadays - they're sick and blinded by the latest fuzz, tons of features, you pay money for - and noone, nobody does really want. If the composition is bad, it's *never* the gear to blame, but the 12 inches behind it. 🙂 Sadly, my D80 died on me with the dreaded aperture gear cog wheel issue. The D80 is prone to failure with this, and i've had less than 12k actuations since 2006...

我一直坚信,那个激发自己对摄影热情的相机就是好相机,我想为我的老D80买一个定时快门线,可是却不知道它的快门线接口是什么型号😢

Bought my D80 new in 2008 and still love it

Very nice review... :)
I just bought one for $20. Taking to Switzerland next week (along with my Fuji XT5 and a 1973 Minolta SRT102)
That's a really good price for it! Like the cost of one roll of color film!

Wonderful video, love it
Which cameras would be a better choice for use with AI and AI-S lenses?
Nikon D200, D700 and the D2 series, (and their successors)
I use it for a wedding recently.
Is available of D80 lcd screen in India?
I suppose the best bet is to use the screen from a broken camera.
Nice , doesn't it meter through the lens
Stop-down metering, yes, but the meter won't get the aperture value from the lens, so no matrix metering on manual lenses.
