  • In The 1916 Company Podcast's first episode, hosts Tim Mosso and Armand Johnston are taking a look at one of collectors' favorite complications: the chronograph. They examine the history of the Breitling Navitimer, identify some independent brands flying under the radar, and look at the Omega X-33. They also talk about the most interesting watches they've seen this week including the H. Moser & Cie. Swiss Alp Watch Final Edition and Ludovic Ballouard Upside Down.

We hope listeners are enjoying the inaugural episode of The 1916 Company Podcast! As a note, UA-cam automatically creates videos for viewers so they can listen to podcasts either on UA-cam or in the UA-cam Music app. Hopefully down the line we will introduce a video componet to the series, but for now it will be an audio-only format. We hope you still enjoy hosts Tim and Armand discussing all things watches with our official podcast, thank you!

Loved the podcast. But it would be nice to have a picture of the watch being mentioned in that section instead of a static image. Would make it much easier to relate to the content that way. Just my 2 cents

This is some of the best watch info I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. But technical watch talk without visual examples is like listening to a British gangster movie without subtitles. I recognize it is English but no idea what they are saying. If you do ever start adding pictures in post production please come back and do this podcast as well. Some epic info going on here but it is A5 Wagyu beef that you can’t taste or an audio recording of the movie Dune.

Not sure if I enjoy the static image, but overall, a good conversation

Why are the prices so outrageous on chronographs

they are especially complicated to manufacture and assemble, generally considered more difficult than a perpetual calendar.

Always love some watch talk content to put on in the background, so thanks and keep it up!
Love independents, and glad you're pointing out about how gear trains are used from established 3rd parties even when everything else in the movement and case are made by the watchmaker. Has been an interesting topic to me as someone with a Habring and a Dörnbluth on the way.
Interesting to hear Tim talking speedies. I love the speedy will always be one of my favorites, 1861 and earlier all the way. Always got the sense Tim was not big on the speedy. It gets a lot of attention, but for good reason.
Edit: Yes! Solid case backs! I am in the minority as well. Strongly strongly prefer solid case backs, often a deal breaker for me. I always check to see if an independent can do that for me, when display is standard.

Tim’s not wrong, the Lang & Heyne Albert is a deity among mere mortals.
The Zenith with the big date is beautiful and well balanced but I also love the current Chronomaster with overlapping sub-dials. The dream is the current chronomaster, sub-dial at 6 being a date dial, chronometer, limited edition, black dial, sub-dials silver or gold in three different finishes (brushed, polished, matte). I’ll keep dreaming…

The yellow dial speedy reduced is worn by William Montgomery which makes it 1000x cooler than the other ones

Stay tuned, we are in the middle of a rebrand and just trying to introduce the new name while not losing people familar with the old name. Within the next few months, we will be unified under The 1916 Company Brand.

@watchboxstudios you’re never pot committed, first rule of poker and one that can still be learned by the 1916 Company execs.
You’re not going to lose those following you, you’ll just find it harder to bring new people in. Consumer pools are like leaky buckets, you’ll always lose water the key is stem it and keep topping up.

I love you guys, but without images, this is just a frustrating thing to listen to. Could someone not throw a few pictures up while you’re talking? If you did that this would be amazing. I realize beggars can’t be choosers, I’m getting this for free and I’m grateful for that. But it just left me frustrating and I had to leave a comment in case anyone else had had the same experience.
