Thank you for doing a proper tutorial showing essentially every step including the snags. I suggest Due Diligence here everyone. Mercedes' choice of a cheap 10 dollar junk toy motor\OEM on such a mission critical automotive function is just one of so many failures by this once iconic company. In particular, the 2011 era C300s can also expect to have a transfer case failure - due to bearing quality issues - that can cause an engine and transmission lockup (WHILE DRIVING!), a rear subframe failure - due to strut rot and collapse, sagging motor mounts and sagging suspension - preventing proper wheel alignments and catastrophic tire wear, among others. It is caused by turning the steering wheel after removing the key. For example, when getting out of the car, you hold onto the steering wheel, the latch locks the steering wheel, but the tensioned steering wheel does not allow the latch to be unlocked. There's even a counter that counts the wrong unlocks, and after a few failed unlocks the steering wheel lock locks up and has to be fitted and a new one programmed. Yes, my small emulator just hang anywhere/ zip tie it or wherever you wanted to place it. For the reason , some esl doesn’t to come out if it’s in unlocked position . And it’s very concealable . Can you tell me the cost of programming all or whatever is needed. And if I have to buy a new key and ignition box. Thank you so much.
The part is $400 for my GLK350. But the dealership would not sell me one with the programming key. It had to be tied to a service order, $2000 USD repair. But I am going to try another dealership, if they will not sell me one I will just go emulator route. My ESL is starting to lock up randomly. I can get it to unlock by banging on the steering wheel. If its unlocked I can remove it easy enough without taking the column out.
Let me know if you want me to program you an ESL emulator. Yes, that’s the average price on that repair. Even they give you just the ESL part,,you will need to program it still. Correct, power steering. I notice you had to turn the power steering manually or at least assist because it wasn’t returning back to center which supposed to. My car start having the very same issue after the repair.
I have this exact problem, do you think its better to replace the broken esl with another esl motor or emulator? People said emulator is better since new esl may break again but what about security?
I might be bias because I make and program an esl emulator to every customer I’ve had contacted me about this problem. For the past years none of them came back nor went bad. We already know that the OEM ESL goes bad, so putting the same OEM ESL will go bad and it’s the matter of “when” it will go bad again. And the price of OEM is close to $2k or more I’ve seen some emulators that fail but those are the older emulators , that has wires dangling. My ESL emulator is well proven and tested. Come message me , find me on FB “Auto Purlieu” . I can help you with your problem

@@richardjt5780 that means you have other problem than the esl. Battery don’t go flat normally, either your alternator is bad or battery or combination of both. And that’s depends in what kind of emulator are you using. Some emulator has personalization feature and that will happen to it. And the one I used is more simpler kind . It’s all depends on how it’s programmed and what type of emulator is used .

Your Emulator Just Hangs It Doesnt Bolt Up To Where The Old ESL Was Placed? Also You Got The Air Bag Malfunction Light On Even With Removing The Ground From The Battery? Thanks
Yes, my small emulator just hang anywhere/ zip tie it or wherever you wanted to place it. For the reason , some esl doesn’t to come out if it’s in unlocked position . And it’s very concealable .
With this particular car, srs light was on because it has a collision on right door.
If the air bag malfunction light comes on after the installation, that can be cleared by a good scanner with ABS capability
Great job, ❤I'm facing this problem today😢... is there any coding to be done with the computer after attaching the emulator?
Yes , the esl emulator must be programmed specifically to your car.
I do offer that service , includes the emulator .

Yes, that’s the average price on that repair. Even they give you just the ESL part,,you will need to program it still.
The esl must be same program and sync in with the Eis and the key fob .

And the price of OEM is close to $2k or more

@@richardjt5780 that means you have other problem than the esl. Battery don’t go flat normally, either your alternator is bad or battery or combination of both.
