The oppressive government of Ethiopia will make sure the roads around the President's and Prime Minister's palace, and around other "important" buildings, are in good shape, but they neglect places where the poor live. Poverty in Addis is abundant, but it is hidden by 5-star hotels and other fancy buildings and tall abundant trees. The government neglects the poor and sends an image to the rest of the world that there is a "renaissance" there, at the same time silencing its people, or if they speak out, they will face jail, torture and death.
So tell me..what has to do the government? show its poverty at all the word? which country in the world do that? Addis Abeba is full of poverty sure, but also offers many opportunities of business, is full of ONG and many project to help people. Are you sure you would be able to manage better a city like Addis Abeba where continuosly everyday come thousand people from contrysides to live and with a birth rate like the ethiopian's one? Try to live in Eritrea first to say that this government is oppressive...try that kind of poverty and oppresson and then think first to comment again. God bless my land Ethiopia and her people
I don't understand how in the hell gerji road is not important....the priority is low. And how come before they start digging the road they didn't check about the electric wires? Shouldn't be overrall check up before starting a project?? I don't really understand how most projects done in Ethiopia. It doesn't seem like they do research before implementing it.
In Addis, If you are approached outside of your hotel, or on the street, by a young male and he asks you if you are interested in going to a cultural dance show for free, Tell him where to go in no uncertain terms/avoid at costs!! It will most likely be a scam, they will take you to a place and girls will perform a few dances for you. They ask if you can buy a drink for them, some cheap barley grass thing. But they will charge you a very hefty price and you will be ripped off. If you argue things may get a bit heavy, if you know what I mean. AVOID, AVOID, the Addis bar trap!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a lots of problems in ethiopia road and traffic. First a loft of car accident in Addis Ababa because there no traffic law this is very dangerous for the pediatrician and for their driver. second there is not enough street road just a few high ways not street road Street road a is very important to reduce the traffic accidents and to save time for the people of Addis Ababa.
