Should be mandatory period, regardless of marital status. I think it’s up to the man if he chooses to continue to be a father to the child. It also depends on if the biological father wants to be in the child’s life, if so then they would have to figure it out together.

What about the man feelings? It’s taking accountability away from the woman who probably knew that man wasn’t the father. If he chooses to stay that’s his choice but if he doesn’t he shouldn’t be crucified for it. We need to stop pandering to women and start holding them more accountable for their actions.

Not one person addressed the emotional toll this takes on the man as well! Contrary to popular belief, men have emotions, too! In this one situation, the man discovers that not only did his wife or woman cheat on him. But he also loses a child he's bonded with and supported financially all of its life. The actual father has a right to know the truth and should at least be offered the opportunity to know their child.
💯 Lies are toxic. Period. It affects everyone at all levels, and it's that woman's fault. No man owes his fatherhood, mental and emotional well-being, etc because she decided to cheat and lie. If a man has to step away from a child under these circumstances, I'd only say to do so gently. But do what you are led to do either way. As is your right.

This happen to my son. After four and half years, we found out that the child wasn't our blood. My son was emotionally destroyed. I miss the child and I think about her daily. Our family was do hurt. But because of what that family put my son through, I understand why he walked away and didn't look back. And I respect his wishes. I know it hurts him to walk away. But he had to put his mental health first. This situation broke him.
What about the biological father of the child not knowing they have a child. The man that is this child's father along with his family may be overjoyed to have that child in their life. It's up to the individual if they want to continue to have a relationship with that child. That mother is taking that away from the biological father.
I feel like it’s at the man’s discretion. I understand it can be traumatizing for the child but the mom should have considered that when she chose to live a lie.

Continue to not hold women accountable. Man has every right to walk away if the woman lies.
So the man should consider the child feelings but the female don't. These women need to be charged just like the men do when they don't pay child support.
We should be able to sue these women. For a man who is actually a "father" to his children, it would be impossible for us to walk away from that child.
I think it is a personal decision. If a man finds out that a child is not his and that has been lied to and can no longer see the child as he did previously, then it probably is best that he stand back. My cousin was in that situation. He said, "She's mine." That was it for the entire family. She is one of us. Her mother, not so much.

My oldest son is going through this right now, he just found out his second son is not his . But he will stay in his life but will not pay child support for him. And as a grandparents we will do the same. funny thing is , in court all the mother said was she already knew

That’s up to the father. If he decides to stay then he can. If not it’s on the woman to go find the father. He has no obligation to take care of a child that’s not his.
Me personally, if I had a bond with the child I would stay around. If me and the child didn't get along and I find out its not mine, I'm out! There was a reason we didn't grow a bond.
My answer depends on the situation. If it's their only child and they're not in a relationship, then no; if they're in a relationship, then it's optional. If it's not their only child and they're in a relationship, then yes; if they're not in a relationship, then it's optional.
Why should you be responsible for someone else’s kid
The men should do whatever they feel is right but the entitlement to having that child fathered after being betrayed is insane.

In this day of at home DNA tests, it is very likely that the child or grandchild would find out at some point. Always choose honesty. The man should stay in the kids life, but the child needs to know that is not their biological father
It depends upon who the man is no one can guilt a man for remaining in that child's life but their are some good men out there who will stay and remain a wonderful father in that child's life.

That's the problem... most men will still be there no matter what because he knows the village needs to be strong. Most men deal with their partner how they see fit, but he's not going to open up to no one else BUT his true boy & other grown men (advice). They have few, but true support. Should he still love the child yes but he has to do so from a distance a place of protection. protecting his and the child's peace, his, his family's and the child's heart and finances. I've seen it first hand how everything is going good until the bio dad wants to swoop in and take over or the mom has moved on and the new man says I'm the daddy now and ices out the entire non bio family. Both the bio dad and child should have the right to form a bond unencumbered by you. Also you have to be able to trust the woman who lied to you is not going to make you legally responsible with no visitation and put you on c-support simply because the other dude wasn't worth nothing. In most states, a non-biological parent who has played a significant role in a child's life may be required to pay child support...
