@@RSquared-travel-rewards the only reason I’m hesitating is I just applied for 2 cards this month already. Do you think if I applied for the premier I would get denied for that reason?
@@Rt23590 The answer is always "it depends". Citi like the other card issues have their own algorithms where they take your entire credit profile into consideration. If your 2 recent cards are Citi cards, you'd definitely have to wait until day 66 to apply for a 3rd card. We know that this applies to Citi but not sure if they would treat your current new card velocity the same way. Also, we know that Citi also looks at your overall card acquisition volume within the past 12 months. If you're not in a rush, I would recommend that you give it a full 65 since your last card for safety.
Correct but a signup bonus on a 2nd Double Cash after the first one's converted is not the goal. However, as stated in the video, you may opt acquire the cards at your own pace. So if receiving a 2nd double cash SUB is desired then nothing wrong with waiting because that's the last step.
Citi application rules are a bit different, it's called 8/65 rule. You can apply more often than you said. I once got 3 Premiers in a span of 65 days, and got a bonus on all 3 of them. You can convert after a year, this is based on a CARD act from 2009. You can't convert before a year.
@Jesus-kt5dc You get 1st, then 2nd, then 3rd. You can start working on a SUB, but not finish it, until you got the last card. In 65 days you can get 3 cards.
I just started with citi journey. I got approve with citi custom cash a few days ago. Do you think they approve and consider if I apply for citi strata after 10 days? As citi rules you can apply after 8 days.Should I wait 3 months?
Nice win! If you haven't been applying for other cards at a high rate then you can give it a go. I gave the longer wait period as a general guide because Citi will not approve you if you've recently acquired many cards across all issuers!
@@jacquelinedy8899 Awesome. Let me know how it works out. I really love Citi cards. Now that the Strata Premier added travel benefits back to the Premier, Citi once again has a seat at the table. Now if they would just remove foreign transaction fees from the double cash, life would be complete 🙂

the rewards+ need to be in the setup also as is effectively makes the cc 5.55% dc 2.22%, and the premier 3.3% when possible and itself is the best card for any purchases less than like 1-5 dollars, so any small purchases get the best cashback so perfect for like vending machines or like something from the dollar store and nothing will beat it. so maybe get something like the city simplicity then PC it into a rewards+ or just swap the simplicity and and keep the rewards+ along with the 3 cc, premier, and the DC. it really should be the magnificent 6
@@Slader77 Joe, it must be the Magnificent 5 🤣🤣. There is the Citi trifecta which could have always been improved with the rewards+ but we always stuck with the trifecta. I’m so mad got denied for the custom cash for to many new account I can’t blame them 4 accounts in 1 month so it makes sense I guess I have to wait a year to start working on Citi cards save this video for a year from now thank you
Citi is pretty tough. It takes patience for most strategies which is why I preach to be very intentional with card acquisitions. I'm by no means perfect because I've made tons of dumb mistakes.
Technically you may hold all 4 of the Citi AA cards. You can't have too much velocity with card acquisitions else Citi will deny you but not because you want more than 2.
It really depends on if you're going to travel or if you're going to settle for just cash back. If you downgrade to the CC, you'll lose access to transfer partners so you'd have to settle for cash back or you would have to sit on the points. I actually don't recommend that approach. You need to hold onto your ThankYou points so I'd recommend that you at least get a Rewards+ card so that your ThankYou point are safe. If you then wish to convert the Premier to a CC then that's ok.
I want the Thank You Points, not cash back, but won't qualify for the Premier SUB for a while. I guess my options are to wait for the SUB or product change to the Premier if I want to transfer my points out.
@@edboc if you received the Premier SUB before, you have to wait 4 yrs for it again. Citi has confirmed that to be the case. I recommend that you allow the process to play out. Why not get the Rewards+ and double cash and convert those over time?
Nice profile pic 😂 You already know that I have mad love for the BILT cars but just addressing that user who wants to stay with one issuer. I'm crushing it here in Kenya with the Bilt card. BILT ought to put me on a retainer. They just added Hilton, so gonna talk about that tomorrow
I got a question about Capital One. They closed my account while I had an ongoing balance I was going to pay in summer (after internship), because payments I was doing didn't go through, and with rent, the card ended up going slightly above the limit. Will this affect my chances of getting credit cards with other issuers if my score barely stays affected (after I pay the balance of the closed account in full). FYI: Never missed any payments.
Simply no. They look at overall balance vs % of total balance. So % wise, you will get hit, but as long as you have ton of available credit, overall % won't be affected much (like you said, your score barely affected) At least that is my experience.
@@kevinManhattan so CP1 closing an account while it was slightly overlimit won't be a red flag for them (as long I don't miss a payment and I pay it off fully)?
A credit card closure by the issuer due to unfavorable card usage is not good. All negative card activity impacts you but the degree to which it impacts you depends on your entire credit profile and not just your fico score. To play this game to win, be diligent in your card management. Use alerts and always check balances to ensure that statements payments are recorded.
Think harder and guess why that might not be the case 😊 Also If I ever needed to live with my mom or she with me, I wouldn't have a challenge with either arrangement. I'm Lebanese and family is everything!!
Well i just converted a double cash to a second custom cash card. And i have another double fash and cash rewards+. So youre saying convert the rewards plus to another custom cash? Lol

Technically yes you may apply sooner but the goal here is success for the average person to have and hold a long term setup.
@@RSquared-travel-rewards you can downgrade unneeded Premiers to Custom Cashes after a year. That's exactly what I did.
The magnificent 5 sounds like the big 5 😉🌍
Lol. Not quite but I'll be checking out the big 5 very soon once more family arrive to visit.
Can you guess where I massaged the name from? 😊
@@RSquared-travel-rewardsit comes from Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa, then there was a remake called Magnificent Seven by John Sturges.
@@RSquared-travel-rewards Awesome! I don’t think they would want to leave, they would fall in ❤️/🌍
I just started with citi journey.
@RSquared-travel-rewards Thanks! I will try the citi strata. I'm not going for chase bec of their 5/24 rules.
Citi Premier is still available on the website
Others indicated that it is being removed from the website but I never did because I haven't seen such information. I do know that the strata premier is tee up to be released because there is a locked down citi site ready to go. I also reported what I got from a rep directly that all regular premiers are being replaced and that renewals for June/July will automatically be replaced with the Strata which impacts me directly.
What credit bureau does citi pull from?
Does the 10% rebate with the rewards plus work on transferred points too or only those redeemed through the city portal?
It applies to all types of points redemptions that were initially earned by you. So yes to transferred points. It however doesn't apply to points sharing. If a friend shared points with you, those don't qualify.
Hello my friend what if I started out the Citi double , then the Citi custom last the strata ?? Then last two Custom cards in that order
You may acquire the cards in any order. If you have imminent travel then be sure to get the strata in advanced of travel.
@@RSquared-travel-rewards thank you Richard for reply
If the Gold card goes to $350 or Higher I”ll get rid of it
But until that time comes I
Love my Rose Gold card .
Working on my Citi 5
Magnificent in for the long haul
@@Anthonyjones-pq4ff unless they add a credit which I may use in my sleep, I'm gone as well. I get tons of value from BILT and citi that I wouldn't need the gold card.
If I already have the old Premier card, will I automatically get the new Strata Premier card?
You sure will. If you log into your Citi account online it might already read Citi Strata Premier. Mine does and I know that my card is in the process of being shipped.
the rewards+ need to be in the setup also as is effectively makes the cc 5.55% dc 2.22%, and the premier 3.3% when possible and itself is the best card for any purchases less than like 1-5 dollars, so any small purchases get the best cashback so perfect for like vending machines or like something from the dollar store and nothing will beat it. so maybe get something like the city simplicity then PC it into a rewards+ or just swap the simplicity and and keep the rewards+ along with the 3 cc, premier, and the DC. it really should be the magnificent 6
@@Slader77 Joe, it must be the Magnificent 5 🤣🤣. There is the Citi trifecta which could have always been improved with the rewards+ but we always stuck with the trifecta. So now it's time for the Citi Magnificent 5. The Rewards+ is the card you may add to any Citi setup but it's not core to the setup. I rest my case 🤣
I’m so mad got denied for the custom cash for to many new account
I can’t blame them 4 accounts in 1 month so it makes sense
I guess I have to wait a year to start working on Citi cards save this video for a year from now thank you
Citi is pretty tough. It takes patience for most strategies which is why I preach to be very intentional with card acquisitions. I'm by no means perfect because I've made tons of dumb mistakes.
Can u have more than 2 citi American cards?
Technically you may hold all 4 of the Citi AA cards. You can't have too much velocity with card acquisitions else Citi will deny you but not because you want more than 2.
What would suggest if I downgraded from the Premier to the CC, and won’t qualify for a new Premier SUB for 2.5 years?
@@RSquared-travel-rewardsI want to stay under 5/24 for Ink cards.
I’d add in a Bilt Card to the setup and you should have a nice setup and options.
Nice profile pic 😂
You already know that I have mad love for the BILT cars but just addressing that user who wants to stay with one issuer.
@@RSquared-travel-rewards good to know, thank you so much!

For gas I would use Wyndham Business.
Capital One Duo?
Not a bad setup which I own as well but some prefer to stay away from the $395 AF
Well i just converted a double cash to a second custom cash card. And i have another double fash and cash rewards+. So youre saying convert the rewards plus to another custom cash? Lol
Awesome! Now you're playing the 5X game. Yes, get that 3 rd CCC. Strategize on which 5% categories work for you to maximize 5X spend without going over! We never want 1X if we can help it.
Nothing wrong with picking up a rewards+ again after completing the Magnificent 5.

Since credit cards are closer aligned to finance, I wanted to pay homage to the magnificent 7 term used in the stock trading world.
your blue eye are beautiful
Appreciate it but the color was screwed up in the vid because I actually have green eyes 🤣
The only downside to this whole setup is no Visa - no Costco.
There is now only room for the Strata Elite 😊. Costco, though valuable to some folks is too specific.
@RSquared-travel-rewards I'd say a large part of the population is spending at Costco and is not too specific. Nearly everyone I know has a Costco membership.
I'm not denying Costco value but I'm valuing ThankYou points with the Magnificent 5 as these cards all work together.
Hi handsome
Hi bro. You better be coming to visit again this year.
1) Not a big fan of Citi.
2) Too many luxury cards out there that have overlapping categories, so Citi might not even make it on the list.
I enjoy the premier for travel because no one beats it on all the travel focused categories..
Strata Premier is CRAP compared to Citi Prestige (which you can no longer get).
3x point is nonsense compared to 5x on Prestrige for AIR TRAVEL and DINING.
10x points on their portal is a scam because prices on their portal are a ripoff.
Cash rewards is the WORST VALUE of all rewards. Give me point transfer any day.
You're comparing the Strater Premier to its older brother? That's like comparing the Sapphire Preferred to the Reserve. Not a very useful comparison.
