Wow! I am the guy who wrote this track! It is so amazing to see such wonderful comments and to see 20,352 views. It totally blows me away man! Thank you so much for uploading my music. Peace!
c. 74,000 now. I uploaded it from my other channel and I'm also over the moon to see it getting the love and respect if deserves - it's an all-time classic. The whole compilation is incredible.
1994 I stopped smoking cigarettes and ended up with an almighty headache for 3 days straight, so lay down and played the Headz album over and over non stop....it was the only thing that gave me any relief.
Wow, after tw odays of thinking I remembered what the album was called. Nice to see it's been posted here as well. This took a while for me to get used to as a kid, but then once I settled for it it hsa stuck with me to this day. It's been over ten years since I last head this.
Wow, I'm knocked out! The amount of times I've Googled 'Awunsound' trying to find out more about it and who was behind the tune! Seriously, what a magical, amazing track. I'm quite sure it must have influenced a lot of people - that Headz release was fantastic and lots of us must still listen to it. I would love to hear more about the track when you get a moment; the gear, the writing, programming etc. Peace, man, and above all, thanks!

Interesting! I tried a Google to find out, but no joy. There must be all sorts of great samples on those Headz records, especially this one, with all the downtempo and jazz elements. Classic stuff, amazing compilation start to finish.
@Aleroj44 Hey, nice one! Glad you like this stuff. I've been listening to this for 15 years and it sounds as amazing now as it did then. Peace and vibes from London.
Yep, it is long :-) But once you've heard it enough times I reckon all the parts merge nicely, it's like an evolving journey. Maybe you'd like one or two of my own downtempo tracks, they're all about 3 or 4 mins long!
this might be a stretch but on this compilation one of the artists used a sample from one of the Marsalis brothers Wynton/Branford. I dont remember who it was only that my brother for some reason had the original on tape it was something experimental they were doing. anyone know of what im talking about?
Nice comments! I agree - those tempos and beats are the best. Some of Lone's stuff is trip-hoppy, and Boards of Canada's new album has plenty of fatness as well :-D
Most things on the Mo Wax label around this time is pretty much of this vibe and caliber, and there’s another label around this time called New Breed that sometimes had some overlapping artist. People will tell you this is trip hop but most trip hop isn’t like this. NinjaTune was another similar label but had more dance vibes
If you mean the voice midway through the track it’s William Boroughs who wrote among many other books “a naked lunch” and was an elder statesmen of the beatnik literary scene. I must be old everyone around my age would recognize his voice, he started in “drug store cowboy” among many other cameos and inspired generations of people to ruin their lives with heroin. Time is the ultimate trip
+¡VAMOS! Festival WOW! Thank you so much!! I've loved this Awunsound track for years and years, it's so cool and fascinating to hear the source of the samples. This is magic, loving the Hutcherson track.. ps apologies for late reply, didn't realise UA-cam was awaiting comment approval from me..
If you are awunsound, i know your brother, the tapes you supllied him with back in the day were my sound track to 92, 93, 94 and 95. I remember one which started with jungle book then T99 anistasia. I would do anything to hear it again. Peace on your quest.

headz music in the 90's was amazing.

William Borroughs voice sampled in the background :-----
Which bit is that? I traced the intro to Curtis Mayfield: ua-cam.com/video/SDCeO2jYORA/v-deo.html
2:40, reminds me a lot of Tek9 - We're getting down!
Re sync the heart
ANYONE know what the vocal is? the guy's voice? heard on a few other things, wonderingggg.

did Madvillain use this sample on Rhinestone Cowboy? or is it from CREAM? sounds mad familiar.
