I think the urban legend goes that the tuba was being intimate with Dvoraks wife, so he added a tiny tuba part so whenever Dvorak was performing this piece the tuba was with him
@@felixtdiaz I saw somewhere that originally the symphony was composed without tuba, but at first rehearsal of second movement Dvorak felt the lack of resonance so he instantly added tuba to double the bass trombone part.
by the way, what edition is the part you played? Is it your own arrangement? Very interesting to hear. Very nice that it is not a mere doubling of bass trombone part.
11:47 i love the boogie woogie bass line here! The orchestra i play timpani in is performing this in 2 weeks and i always tell the low brass to bring it out!
I'm going to go back to doing a mix of orchestral, bass lines from popular music, and movie music. Next ones up are 7 Nation Army and The Hunt for Red October. I also want to make more funny videos/skits. I'm going to update the Patreon and make it better and I'll be rolling out UA-cam membership perks soon too.

Dvorak's use of tuba in this symphony is so interesting to me. 8 measures in the whole thing. Fun to see tuba getting some love. Haha
It boggles me only why 8 measures. Still gotta hire a tuba to play it so might as well write more lol

Olka CB1-A is smaller than CB1-E? I mean rim and cup.
@@tarasorlov3869 I don't know the difference
What key of horn do you use?
CC tuba
What type of mouth piece do you use?
I use a Chris Olka CB1-E
This movement originally doesn't have Tuba part right? So you arrange this by yourself? Or you play Bass Trombone part?
@@nster8503 it's a mix of string bass and trombone parts
