Getting into crappie fishing and wanting to learn more. I make all of those mistakes. Thank you guys for taking the time to share all of the knowledge in these videos.
This whole shot of UA-cam fishing videos has been the best educator I could have ever found. Going after multi species, picking the brains of that specific specie fisherman, sorting the chaff from the grain, and having little groups assembled like you guys discussing all the mistakes you've made gets everyone thinking. Really enjoy these types of fishing discussions. Keep up the fantastic work. In the long run, it won't cost you anything and it will pay with more clients coming to you for all your honesty.
I fished with Jerry a few years ago and learned so much. He taught me so much stuff that I didn't even know he was teaching me until later. All I can say is go with a reputable guide and pay attention to what they say and do. I went with Jerry to learn first and catch fish second. Best money I ever spent!
Biggest thing i see which LS has fixed alot of it was I saw so many that didnt have a open mind scared or didn't know may better to change color size and profile but ive been crappie fishing 40+ years I think I learn something just about everytime I go still to this day especially since LS ...awesome vid fellers 👍
Todd/Jerry…just bought your 11’ Huckabee Hancock signature rod..great rod. Smoked them on Lake O’the Pines this past weekend. Very deep fish: 30-40’. Great sensitivity and backbone. Always enjoy your videos! Keep it up!
Couldn’t agree more on your comment about boats/ equipment purchases. When I went to purchase a new boat a couple years ago my dealer talked me down to a 17’ from originally looking at a 20’ model based on what I typically fish for. Couldn’t be happier with that decision. Left more room for some extras and I don’t have something that is too big for some favorite lakes.
The best and most informational video I have ever seen(and that’s a lot). I would like to have the contact info for Jerry Hancock. Planning a trip to Fork soon.
Huckabee with no sunglasses on... is he okay? haha. WSD.. I hope to be half as good as him someday. Great vid as always! Thanks for putting these together.
Awesome at about 13:00 he was talking about fishing clear water with pink and not being able to catch fish on a big bait because they were black crappie. Do you typically use smaller baits targeting blacks and do you use smaller baits in clear water?
Black crappie have smaller mouths so they seem to like a smaller profile Tune in Tuesday night for Today’s Bite 7pm CST we are live and ask us these questions Great questions
Good info gents. in your experience, which boat configuration is easiest for learning? aluminum vs glass, flat vs vhull, 15ft vs 17.5 vs 20+ length, light weight vs heavy, beam width, big motor trimmed down vs up? I have a Tracker Pro Team 17.5 and can't figure it out.
I raised a crop of cat fish a few years ago.my building where I kept feed was probably 75 yards from the water. When I went to feed, they would start hitting the top of the water when I turned the door knob.
I know this is old, a part 2 would be nice explaining the electronic setup and the style (brush, piers, open water) being used as Jerry describes around 50 minutes into the video.
You guys talked about different electronics set up for different types of fishing. That would be a fantastic, stand on its own show. I fish standing timber , brush and bridges and am looking to upgrade electronics and bet a lot of others are was well. Thanks for what you do !!
Is there an advantage to putting the lvs transducer on the trolling motor vs pole? I use mine on a pole with auto pilot/spot lock. Just learning right now. Not even a year into the live scope.
@@crappieconnection Thank you. I caught the explanation just after I typed the comment. LOL I live close to Robinson. I can't find a way to get hold of him to maybe set up a guide trip. Can you help?
I'm fishing out of a bay boat in Florida and I've been trying to figure out how to install livescope on my rig. I'm curious to see how different using it will be out a boat higher out of the water at the nose.
@michaeldrake4090 the bay boat catches wind more, bobs up and down more and the deck sits higher off the water at the nose than say a ranger. I don't know if it will make a difference but we'll find out
I grew up mostly hunting with very little fishing. When I did fish it was mostly in a farm pond. Now I want to catch crappie in large lakes on a river system in Alabama. I get overwhelmed by the sheer size of the water and have no idea where to start to just find crappie. What suggestions do you have for me on where to start on an 18 mile long lake? How do I find fish? TIA
Is there a map of the contours of the lake? Time to explore and look for brush piles or create your own. Look for any types of points where there is steep contours Get to know your electronics they will find everything you need to know about the lake.
@@crappieconnection Yes I have a map of the layout of the lake on my electronics. Thank you for your reply and thank y’all for your video. I definitely learned some things that I have been doing wrong. The biggest is to not “jig” and be more subtle in presentation!
@@crappieconnection Done! And I will check out your live stuff too. Thank y’all again for taking the time to help folks out like me to become better fishermen.
OH MY GOODNESS IM doing absolutely nothing correct I’ve learned so much I’m brand new to crappie hunting and live scope and now I know to do reset my brain to factory default settings I’m aggressive I’m a yoyoer I’m a stay to longer a 2 color a day guy this is awesome information
When I first got Livescope I struggled trying to use it because I would try using it and fish at the same time. I left my poles at home and only hit the water with Livescope. I learned more in 1hr than I had learned in 8hrs trying to use livescope and fish at the same time.
Moved to the Rez and we've started crappie fishing but only have down imaging as of now. We've spent tons of hours marking structures and piles then using buoy markers to fish them. Bobbers, minnows, jigs, long lining you name it from changing colors to changing depths we've done it all or at least have been trying. Is it possible that we are spooking them too much when trolling over them to mark the pile and thats the main reason for not catching them? I can see them stacked on structure but can't get them to bite. Also is it possible that I'm not marking the piles or structures correctly? Thanks and appreciate all the help so far!
They get really spooky in the summer especially with light or no wind. Might to stay 20-30 feet away. Might try not throw a buoy marker close to the pile either. Down sizing bite is a big key as well. Check out Ms outdoors tonight at 7:30 I filmed a show last June casting to them
One mistake I see all the time is people with no boating etiquette. They will buzz by you way to close driving fast or come by you close and slow and side scan or livescope to see what your fishing. SUPER ANNOYING

It would depend on what style your wanting to fish and what size body of water your wanting to mainly fish?
I raised a crop of cat fish a few years ago.my building where I kept feed was probably 75 yards from the water. When I went to feed, they would start hitting the top of the water when I turned the door knob.
They were definitely trained

It kinda depends if looking to catch open water suspended crappie or crappie stationery on structure
Open water on trolling motor is better

How do you plan on using?
Casting, spider rigging, fishing brush or etc.?
@@crappieconnection I'll be casting most of the time since it is rare I fish a lake over 8ft deep in most areas
I would mount it on the trolling motor
I am not understanding why it would make a difference not saying that it doesn’t just trying to understand why

Pretty similar
