    I've got to say, no need to edit his shots so abruptly. The 10 minute videos of his round are much more enjoyable to watch. Watching this it feels like the editer was forcing it down to five minutes. Play all the drives, approach shots, chips and putts without cramming it in.

    This was not a pleasant edit to watch. Let us see him finish the holes and let the commentators finish their sentence before moving on please.

    Driving wasn't that great, but his short game was masterful and his putting was awesome. Remember - "drive for show, put for dough." It doesn't take much to fix your driving accuracy and he'll figure it out.

      I play with amateurs and his slices are not worse. Also, the guys you play with probably don't carry it over 300 yards. At those speeds, any miss is exaggerated.

    • @jordan19862000
      @jordan19862000 6 років тому

      And a two stroke penalty for being offline? Offline of what? The center of the fairway isn't always the aiming spot. I have purposely driven the ball over some trees and into the rough (over 300 yards carry) because the rough in that area is an easier pitch than hitting an iron from the dogleg at 160 out. If I think I can score better from there, why not hit it there?

    Dude hasn't played since this time last year. since then he's had fusion back surgery and 8-10 months of rehab followed by only 1.2 to 2 months of legitimate practice. he shoots -3 in 72 holes with limited preparation and only hitting 17 of 56 fairways.... i can't put into words how impressive that is. but if he wants to compete with these young guys he NEEDS to sort out that driver. there were a few vintage Tiger tee shots this week, but he'll have to consistently hit those all 4 rounds if he wants to win again.

    GC/NBC Universal. TW is going to be with us for at most a couple more years. Don't aquiesce to the "real golf fans" who have been complaining about how much coverage TW gets. WE all know his time is short and we won't have him around much longer on tour. I'm not saying base your entire broadcasts around him when he plays but there is a way to satisfy both TW followers and the "real golf fans" without making bad supercuts like this AND without having the camera on TW for 20 minutes every time he scratches his balls. There is a happy medium but this wasn't it.

    Gee, feed the 3 wood for a while and shave off 5 -8 strokes.

    • @thenext1292
      @thenext1292 6 років тому +3

      Rogue Cheddar Torrey pines is one of the longest courses on the PGA tour. A 3 wood doesn't cut it. I played Torrey pines countless times from the black tees. I can get my drive up to 300+ and still need a long iron for my approach shot. Playing along the ocean is 100 times harder than playing more inland. Also the black tees aren't even the tees the pros play from. The tees are another 25-40 years back during this tournament.

    • @gusbusgaming1033
      @gusbusgaming1033 6 років тому

      Yeah but a good tee shot with a 3-wood is maybe 20 yards behind a good driver, and that's like a 1-1.5 club difference coming in. I'm sure he would take a 6-iron in the fairway over a 7-iron in the rough on those longer holes any day.

    • @thenext1292
      @thenext1292 6 років тому

      GusBusGaming but the wind is never calm enough on Torrey pines to hit just 3 woods off the tee and the course plays even longer when the farmer's open is going on. If hitting just 3 wood off the tee wins you the tournament, then a lot of them would do it, but they don't because hitting 3 to 5 iron approach shots isn't the easiest thing to do. Like I've mentioned before, I average a little over 300 and there was so many holes that I was hitting 4 iron approach shots on the south course. I'm currently a 1 handicap and the south course is insanely difficult, narrow, long, and the rough is like you're playing in the US open. Torrey pines doesn't even allow you to drive the golf cart in the rough. That's how much they pride themselves for their rough length. You have to drive in the fairway or a Marshall will be on your ass. Trust me, I understand your theory, but the wind balloons a 3 wood shot high in the air when playing Torrey pines giving MAYBE a 250 yard tee shot because of the strong gusting wind from the sea, losing distance, when a you can keep a driver low with low spin and get close to 300 plus the roll out.

    • @whateverittakes1673
      @whateverittakes1673 6 років тому

      +the next question for you. Are "the tips" considered to be where you play from or where to pros play from during tournaments. Like if someone said to you " I shot a 85 playing from the tips" What would that mean?

    • @thenext1292
      @thenext1292 6 років тому

      WhateverItTakes what I've seen at Torrey pines is that the course has their public playing tees - white, blue, and black. And they have their pro tees which are even further back and the course does not allow anyone to play from the pro tees for obvious reasons. So when you hear someone say they played from the "tips", that means they played the black tees which is the furthest ones back.

  • @sophiajailbreak9604
    @sophiajailbreak9604 6 років тому

    I'm telling ya his problem with the driver is because he swings too hard out of the rough on recovery shots. That kills your feel because it uses those muscles on your side and stuff and you also lose elasticity because you have to stretch too far out of wack to do those crazy shots.
    If he takes care of his back out there he should have a good idea of where his club face is on the driver.
    Also he could try going to a wide draw like he did on that one hole, and just try and get that type of drive under control because that way you can sort of control where your misses are going to be.
    That probably isn't good enough to win on tour for most guys but for tiger it might be.
    I'm talking about at 3:26, but this drive was into the wind.
    You see he slows way down compared to normal, but I think he might be able to find more success if he kept a more simple approach always.
