Aftershock may be over, but the road to recovery certainly isn't. The effects of all of this will continue to be felt throughout these storylines. These were some of the immediate impacts directly in the wake of the disaster for some of the characters, but these are just a first step in a marathon, one that, just like in real life, isn't going to be linear. We won't see every step in that-- the pitfalls and high points and the unglamorous-but-incredibly-important stretches in between, where it's just making it from day to day-- but amongst the greater narratives unfolding on this channel, we'll continue to see that process of trying to get back to "normal", while still being honest to the fact that that will be a lot easier said than done, especially for some of these characters.
That said, there are also a lot of other plots on this channel that have been on the backburner in favor of these arcs, and they need to get some attention again. So expect in the immediate future to see some of those other narratives get some love before we get back to these characters. And I know a lot of people have asked about Sam; he's not forgotten in all this. We'll absolutely be seeing how he's doing with all this before too long.

@BunnyGirlSauce you are right, since Vincent turned lovely they core is different now but they still do have their electric powers, they just have to work on them again sadly
i think they won’t be too upset. since they haven’t spent their whole lives with their powers, only a couple years, it probably won’t feel like their loosing a part of their identity and purpose like it did with Sam. i feel like they’ll be a bit upset about it, though, considering how excited and eager they were to learn when they got them (as i would too, who tf wouldn’t). but there’s a possibility that their excitement came partly from learning about a whole new magical world, and now they’re eternally a part of it with Vincent!! i feel like they’ll see it as a net gain in the end. or at least i do.

I actually feel it may be the opposite. Lovely is a latent the magic that soaked into their body making them a powerful electrode might be just as powerful as a vampire, or making them a very powerful vampire even though a vampire magic is physically
Actually by saying their core changes, doesnt that mean all of them become like freelancers? Or maybe they dont have elements or energetic powers anymore, that’s why sam only heals and in the inversion he was using his hands. It’s like their power numbs or smthn, like how wolves can’t use the elements, Im guessing all magical creatures have magic running through their veins differently..I hope that isnt the. Case though
I love how Vincent is just…constantly rambling, trying to get lovely to understand. I like to think that Lovely is sort of just…not looking at him. I do this a lot when I’m anxious and feeling dissociated, I bet their feeling their fangs with their tongue and feeling around their body and sort of confused/scared cause it feels lighter than before??? And everything is so much that they don’t want Vincent touching them and sort of scoot away from him because touching would be over-stimulating. The further along Vincent gets in his ramble the easier it is to focus because in all of the uncertainty of “what tf is going on??” Vincent is the only recognizable and stable thing in their life rn.

The fact that two of my major worries was eliminated immediately is beautiful. How deeply Vincent loves and the devotion and dedication shown warms my heart. It's obviously not going to be easy at all but the foundation is strong. That definitely means a lot!

@Isaiah Gabriel It wasn't even that I thought he would use the invocation, but it was the power imbalance. In getting rid of his ability to do that AND the ability for him to lie, it sets as close to equal as they can be. Everything else will obviously have to be worked through, but that was the thing that worried me about the relationship.

I feel like Lovely is half way listening. Not in a rude way, just in a survival mode type of way. Like, continuing to look around trying to focus only to lose it. That’s way his voice has moments of calm yet, louder to keep lovely from not losing it. Especially, considering their powers are probably making them extremely hype aware of the situation. Just my thoughts and how I would react if this were to happen. Thx for this whole story :)

I had a feeling Vincent would have Will remove his ability to invoke; that fear of a power imbalance was something I knew had to be lingering in his mind. The fact that he also went so far as to ensure that he can't lie to them either too- to ensure equal footing, there's so much love there, this was so beautiful to see

Vincent is so wonderful. Wanting to be partners and equals no matter what. Knowing that Lovely has suffered from the power imbalance in the past and wanting to assure them that not only that he doesn't want that, but wont have that be a problem. And that ending though! Maybe it's just me but it sounded a bit like a proposal 😍

To me, this turning into a vampire is special. When compared to other videos dealing with this topic, it’s very fast moving, non consensual (no shade if you’re into that), and just feels incomplete. Here, Vincent walks Lovely through the steps into the turning and explains how things will start to feel normal again and he wants the bond to feel genuine so there’s no upper hand or any misdirection. We’re both on an even playing field now. One of my favorite turning videos💕
Me over here getting way too excited and whisper yelling "william!" when I hear him speak. I'm so glad we got to hear from Will again, even for just a brief moment. I honestly don't know why I never thought of Vincent asking him to remove his ability to envoke and I was confused for a second. Though I understood why and I nearly melted. I loved this and all of the aftershock videos, well done Erik!!

2 minutes in and I’m tearing up. He really did that. He begged Will to help immediately- not that there was any doubt before, but his relationship with Lovely clearly means so much to him. My lil heart can barely take it.
So Vincent did ask William to take away his ability to invoke Lovely! I wonder if Vincent and Lovely can really continue as a couple, also being Maker/progeny? I am curious to learn more about the details of a Maker/progeny bond through a vampire listener character.
I appreciate Vincent's emphasis of them being completely equal partners, also making it where he can't lie to Lovely either. But man, has Lovely been through the ringer!
I also still wonder what Vincent got invoked for, especially since he said he was grateful that William did it to him.
I have been long awaiting this episode! Also, enjoyed the cameo of William. I love the Vincent storyline so much, and that love grows a little more with each new episode!

It felt like there was so many layers to this Vincent's explanations felt almost panicked to me, like he was doing his best to be reassuring but was struggling to keep in the fear of them feeling like he did. I'm very glad he chose to not be able to invoke them, a relationship where each is completely unable to lie will definitely be so interesting to explore.

Yeah, invoking is a little similar to trancing. But the importance difference in Redacted's universe is that while any vampire can trance someone (except other vamps I believe), only a maker can invoke their prodigy (people they've turned into vamps).
It's a good tool for makers to keep their prodigies in check because when someone is invoked, they can't ignore or disobey what their maker is telling them to do or not do in that moment. It helps with acclimatising to being a vamp, any rules and the bloodlust newborns experience.
So basically it seems like there was a situation where William had to invoke Vincent, otherwise there would have been loss of life. And I wasn't aware the situation was that serious. Hope that helps :)
I've been thinking he tried to burn himself to death, but William was able to stop him. Remember when he told Lovely about how sunlight does burn vampires, but it's not immediate like some media portrays? Other than from another clan member, how else would Vincent know that without experiencing it himself?
I am so glad Vincent took the steps he did to make sure Lovely and him were on equal footing after their Turning. It was so heartwarming, watching him go to William. It didn’t even cross my mind at first that he could also ask William to invoke him not to be able to lie to them. I love how far Vincent has gone to make his and Lovely’s relationship one full of trust and respect. It’s a beautiful partnership.

Also, though we still haven’t learned what precisely happened when William had to invoke Vincent, I gather from their conversation that not only was it to save Vincent’s life but that he might have been a danger to himself.This is purely theory, but we learned that Vincent struggled greatly in the aftermath of his turning, and I think it might be possible that he put himself intentionally in harm’s way and/or sought to die.

No matter the back story, we know that William’s ability to invoke Vincent is why he’s still alive today. Which means that Vincent is gravely aware that relinquishing control over Lovely might mean that there comes a day where he might lose them forever because he doesn’t have invoking as a last resort to save their life. I love that he doesn’t focus on fearing what could happen but rather what *is* happening in the moment: that his partner right now needs someone they can trust wholeheartedly to get through this.
I love all our bois (okay that’s grand, aqua asshat and cult boy, I don’t love) but Vincent has such a special place in my heart for all the growth he’s demonstrated across his series.

I'm so glad Vincent virtually immediately got rid of that advantage over Lovely. I'm not a huge fan of being in "maker-progeny" and romantic relationships at the same time (it just gives a bit bad vibes). Although it's not something that would bother me to the point where I would have to stop following the story, I'm glad that Vincent does everything he can to make his relationship with Lovely as equal as possible.
Also that not-being-able-to-lie thing was a concern for me. I'm happy it's been solved too (kinda, it still is a bit bothering, because it takes away a part of their freedom, but at least now it goes both ways). It's not an ideal solution, but the best we could get. -So now any "I'm fine" when you're not really fine is out of use I suppose? :p-
In conclusion, I'm glad this video turned out as it did. I'm ready for this plot to unfold, it might be very intereting!

honestly, i imagine Lovely being completely emotionless after the turning; Having lost a lot of their power due to the change, - it was something they were so good at and so proud of having- on top of the trauma from the inversion and having their life force taken by the shade, i can see them closing up and talking a lot less
im so worried about lovely's first bloodlust episode and how hurt vincent would be witnessing it i cant do this

I was casually feeding my cat when it hit me, ’oh my god it’s Vincent today!” And here I am. A big smile of an emotional bubble on my lips. He’s such a beautiful and caring soul. He loves so deeply and the part about being equals, why he wanted William (oh goodness, him!) to make it that way - aahhh, emotions! Vinney - yes - has been one of my faves for a long time and this bond gets stronger the more of his beautiful being we get

how very well done! the idea that Vincent wanted to cover all the concerns and fears that he had when he was turned without having being asked is the kind of consideration we all need. Knowing the physical alterations would be noticeable and probably startling, he was right there reassuring them that it was normal and would become more natural to them eventually. The best follow up we could have gotten for Vincent and his lovely is that their relationship is able to adapt and hopefully survive

The fact that Vincent was so adamant about casting aside his ability to Invoke Lovely, as well as his ability to lie to them, all in an effort to keep the relationship balanced/genuine... It speaks to the beautiful dedication, deep devotion, love, and flow of trust between him and the listener. With that in mind, this quote is so wonderful: _"I love you. I don’t want that kind of imbalance between us. I don’t want that kind of power over you. I Turned you, but you aren’t progeny to me. You’re my partner. We’re equals. Me being your Maker gives us an incredible bond, one that goes both ways. And that’s how I want everything about this to be-something that goes both ways, that we share. So I had William take away my ability to Invoke. And as your Maker, you can’t lie to me, so I had him make it so that I can’t lie to you. Both ways, with everything."_
On top of that: Vincent's eagerness to validate Lovely's experience, as well as talk through it, amidst his own unique nervousness and uncertainty, was so sweet and earnest. Not that I'd ever expect anything less from Vincent, of course! ❤️ He's a great fella to spend forever with, most certainly! 😭
The emotion and sincerity in this video was portrayed exquisitely. The exploration of feeling was astounding, and expressed so perfectly. Both in the audio itself, and in the video description. I was really nervous about how this would go considering that lovely was turned I'm really glad they found each other I'm just in love with Vincent's character
The respect Vin has for lovely and back is something beautiful. When Vin was explaining and trying to reassure lovely it really felt he was saying it from the bottom of his heart also with the fear that they get to experience the same thing he did. I can't process how are you able to express so much emotion with your voice only this is unreal almost. Love your videos truly. Im really excited for more Vin and Lovey videos and how is everything gonna go!

Slightly off-topic, but this just occurred to me... we have absolutely no frame of reference as to when Starlight was brought into Avior's collapsed rift. So... for all we know, they got pulled in pre-Inversion, and are going to escape only to find out that _someone_ (cough CloseKnit cough) killed 1,500 of their neighbors in the interim.
... I hate my brain sometimes for thinking these things.

2 minutes in and Vincent is raising my standards so high that I can never date… Like his main concern was them remaining on equal footing and preserving what they had so it’s the one, steady reliable thing in this whole confusing mess and it’s just so heart warming (???), for lack of a better term

Cannot stress enough how the incredible writing raises the stakes and makes us feel for these characters, thank you once again for such amazing writing! Great job too Hedral!
A visual I can’t stop thinking about is Vincent turning Lovely, and the electro symbol on their competition gear slowly being darkened by a growing stain of blood. Lovely’s officially like Vincent in such a heartbreaking way. How redacted makes such a change in their relationship so heartbreaking and building a new bond at the same time is mind blowing. Not being able to lie to Lovely?! Are you kidding? That’s a whole other level of love and care.
And the sad tones in both Vincent and Will’s voice during their convo. How Will said that Vincent knows how crucial invoking can be as the difference between life and death, and then Vincent said, I know. Not in an angry way or ashamed way. Like a sad, grateful sense. I had the disheartening thought that invoking might have been the difference in Vincent living or taking his own life.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk haha, excited to see how these characters all grow from inversion!

VINCENT YOU SWEET AND BEUTIFUL BOY asking William to take away his encoding ability just so that his relationship with lovely isn't a one sided honesty relationship and him carefully explaining to lovely what was happening he was so calm about it to AND TO PUT A CHERRY ON TOP
The writing wasn't heartbreaking it was almost uplifting in a way that even though this terrible thing happened its also a stepping stone to a new chapter in life for both these characters and one that there going to face together and all I ask is that we get a proposal plus wedding in that distant future. Well done Erik for giving us this event and go give yourself a mental break because I can't imagine that this event was easy to do.
As *soon* as he started describing it, I *knew* it was depersonalization. It’s one of the most jarring experiences to have, and it SUCKS. Especially if it lasts for a whole day at a time. Your hands don’t even look/feel like your own. Everything is disconnected and “wrong.” You don’t even have to be doing something stressful; you can wake up with it, be with a friend, then BOOM out of body. Dizzying. Awful.
So well done, Erik. You hit the nail on the head with all of these grief stories. This one in particular really hit close to home. But, every one had me crying.

post- video edit: something about this one just feels so nostalgic? esp bvs vincent was my introduction the world of redacted and all, so his series was the first I really followed it’s reminiscent of discovering and learning about the universe all over again. which just makes it even crazier of a emotion rollercoaster. And he's the first character in the channel I've heard and he's had such an amazing character development
I'm literally crying at how gentle Vicent is. I'm newly married as of 3 months ago, and the adjustment has been really hard for me. We started dated during Covid so I didn't see him or his friends much in person(also our schedules didn't work out often), and I dealt with social anxiety before the isolation of the more heavier restriction time of the pandemic so that adds another layer to being with his friends and family now. And he's the quiet type so I've been forced to really push my own introverted and awkward self to socialize, and just trying to keep up with all the family friends that I'm meeting as my in laws are very sociable people. Along with other little things I'm told come with people recently married, yet being told that just raises my anxiety and frustration since I try to figure out the *why*...
Hearing him talking about disassociating trying to make sense of all the new incoming information and trying to adjust to new "normals" is oddly comforting for me right now

Vincent was my introduction into the dahlia-verse(?). So this aftershock really hits home and weirdly it feels like a new beginning. It feels like I've rediscovered Vincent's story and I'm about embark on another wild journey.

I was so scared that this would be painful because Vincent is my favourite so I'm glad it was more of a reassurance that there are good things to look forward too. Vincent's 'please' when begging for will to remove his ability to invoke lovely was so genuine it almost made me cry because of how much respect and love he has for lovely. Hearing Vincent trying to quickly but effectively explain the emotions of being turned to reassure lovely and also hearing his internal panic at lovely suffering -
Just godamn these two are my absolute favourites and I was excited to see how it would play out and this did not disappoint

God, I just realized I wouldn't make a good vampire. I faint at the sight of blood, so needing blood to survive would be a nightmare. Love the audio and can't wait to see what comes of it

When I was in college, I suffered from an extended episode of depersonalization/derealization, and I remember it being so scary at the time because I didn't know what was happening to me or if I would ever feel normal again. Naturally this video hit really close to home :') if only it had been around back then... I really hope this video finds its way to someone in need

I’m really glad I was right about Vincent getting invoked by William. Though I would have preferred Vincent invoking Lovely to be able to lie to him (if that was possible) and then getting invoked himself but both of us not being able to lie is the next best thing. I am very very excited to see where this goes. I can sense a lot of trauma and frustration ahead.

My question is did lovely lose thier ability to use energy ? Having something stripped away so soo after not long discovering that ability could cause emotions to build to which Vincent may very well come running to comfort them
I'm pretty sure they can still use their abilities, its just gonna be a lot less strong, similar to Sam and how he was a healer before he was turned

Man, coming back to Vincent just reminded me of how much both him and Lovely have grown, and why I love their characters so much. This series took a different direction than I expected, but I appreciate the Journey nonetheless. Also, Hedral’s voice is a godsend (and so are their acting choices).
