One wild race. I mean Carmel, Noblesville, and Zionsville just did not perform like usual, especially Carmel. I also feel like there was a lot more individuals from small schools. I also don't care for the setup, because with how the sectionals and regionals are set up, you have people going who are running medium 18, while kids who run low 16 can't go just cause there in a hard regional. ( edit * also as always, amazing job on Liams part, that is a crazy good time )
Thanks for the kind words for Liam. Super proud of him all season! I thought Noblesville looked great. They finished 2nd and only 10 points from winning. As long as you have 25 teams qualifying from around the state, I think you are always going to get a couple of guys in the 18 range. Overall, it does a decent job of rewarding the best teams and top individuals.
@@HSECCDAD That is true, I would prefer if instead of taking just the top from each regional, they just run all the regionals like normal, then just compare all the top times and top team scores and take the best that way. Also I think they did okay, but usually there competing against Carmel and have lower points.
@@LandonPolandtimes don't matter in cross country tho, whoever is on the faster course has the advantage that way. like new prairies course vs brownsburgs would be crazy unfair.
@@yaseensaleh4646 I know every course is different. Though it also unfair to be in a regional where the top 10 individuals all run under 16. Then runners who run in an easy regionals can run barley sub 16 and make it. It should be the truly best of the best in the state.
They redid the tournament format last year doing away with Semi-State. They now have one more team and 35 more individuals advance to State. 5 Regionals send 5 teams each with the top 15 Individuals not on an advancing team. So, I think the state field expanded from 208 runners to 250. I think it was to an effort to advance more smaller schools runners to state. Not sure if it actual worked.
