Very helpful. Replaced mine in 15min. Cost $7 for the bulb. Ford dealership was charging $115

Thank you! This really helped us. Getting the light out took the longest time. Stubborn! And before I could tell my husband he did use his fingers to install new light. Hope it doesn't ruin it. Also, we thought we had to remove the bolts, but you just have to loosen them. Thanks again!

Good video and you showed how simple it is. Seems more and more trim parts today have "hidden" fasteners and you'll easily break something because you didn't know. Videos like this are pretty helpful!

@@Hindsight101 Your welcome however I'm having trouble finding a replacement bulb. I've checked local Ford dealers and some dealers online (they all use the same parts diagrams) and none show this bulb or location. You listed the new bulbs mfg name/part number. With that I checked Walmart, Auto Zone, Advance, O'Rellys, Amazon and so on and ALL say this bulb will not fit a 2008 Edge. I could see a couple having it wrong by application but not all and can't believe how hard this is to get. Thanks
I used a local parts store in my area and this is what they suggested. It worked fine in my vehicle. I did notice this bulb is sold out everywhere. Not sure why most places state the bulb isn't compatible but it did work
Hey man, thank you for the excellent video. My daughter's 08 Fusion fortunately did not require me to remove the gear shift. Once I took the cup holder console off, I had direct access. Thanks again.

2 of the instrument lights and the shifter light was out too. I ordered a pack of 12 LEDs online for $7 mind you the price for just one at the dealership is around $8
ALSO... I was able to reach into the side to remove the old bulb from the console without removing the 4 screws. All LEDs now and everything is much brighter than before. BTW, LEDs come in different colors. I stuck with the original green 🍏

Where are the other instrument lights you talk about? WhT was the bulb # of the LEDs you got? Figured I’d snag some led on Amazon for this shifter but can’t seem to pin point the correct #

2723 is too big for my 2009 Ford Edge and doesn't work. Any ideas of what else to get?
Bulb in the socket says TSD 7 4 on it.

I have a 2012 Lincoln Navigator and the shifter seems to be identical to your Ford Edge. Your link for the bulb doesn't identify the correct bulb. The Ford part number for the bulb is #8L8Z-13466-A, but they are difficult to find and expensive. Can you confirm the "Sylvania Long Life" bulb that you used. I suspect it is Sylvania #2721 LL.
To be sure go into an auto parts store or call them
@@Hindsight101 Auto parts stores can't seem to identify them, yet bulb burn-out on this shifter lamp seems to be a common problem. What Sylvania bulb did you use???

I picked up the #2723 bulbs and tacked this job today. After fully disassembling, I found two holes for lamps in the area indicated just under the PRN321 indicator, but there was no wiring harness or lamp assembly installed in the holes. Checked everywhere inside the shifter assembly and inside the console and there is no wiring harness. Looks like someone has either removed the harness, or the factory failed to install one. Anyone else seen this problem?
Where can I get a bulb this small bulb ? Advanced auto parts or Jensen tire doesn’t have it. And by chance what is the proper name of The bulb. Thank you in advance

It could be but I am not sure what fuse it would be. Are you sure you didn’t buy a bad bulb?

How do you get the bolts to go back in? clip nuts on the bottom side won't lineup?
fought to get 3 back in..
15 minute job turned into an hour because of the clip nuts.
It could be the fuse but I believe that connects to other things so you would have other things that aren’t working as well if it was a fuse. Without seeing your clip issue I’m not too sure why they’re not lining up
Hindsight 101 I'm gonna check fuse's see what's in there, struggled to get the bolts to match up to the threads..
clip nut,slip on nut,see them on fenders.
fortunately I have a couple longer bolts to put back in, same thread size.

All is good till the adapter comes off and falls towards the back / inside. into never never land

NO KEY NEEDED.... Ya just have to turn the lights on one click and the marker lights is all you need to turn on.... simple.. Again.. No need to put the key in..

An led would of been better I swap my gf with an led it will outlast the inconsent bulb.
