Had a BILT motorcycle jacket with bad misaligned zipper. I didnt have to remove parts or pieces. I slowly worked the zipper up and down realigning the connection at the bottom. After about several tries, it disconnected and can now be zipped correctly. Phew. Patients is your number one tool. Good luck to anyone with this issue.
Yes that definitely does work sometimes. However when trying that method most of the time you end up getting to the point where my video comes in handy. But if it works, it works.
Thank you so much. It cost me one dollar to repair a brand new down-filled base layer jacket that no one (neither the store nor manufacturer) would warranty. I thought it was going to cost me about $50 or more to replace the misaligned zipper. Instead, after seeing your post, I bought the top pieces at a fabric store and fixed it myself in minutes. Very grateful. 😊
Thank you for this very helpful video. I was able to fix the zipper on my wife's new jacket and she thinks I'm wonderful! I don't have top steps so I told my wife not to pull the zipper all the way up until I get some top steps later today but she is still very happy that she won't have to throw out the jacket (which was her plan before I found your video).
Thank you. I knew nothing about top stops. Thanks to you, I was able to remove one, take off the zipper pull, realign the zipper, reattach the pull at the bottom and make the heavy-duty zipper mesh. Now my elderly mother will be able to use her long-time favorite jacket again. Appreciated!
I could not understand exactly how you remove and replace the top stops because you performed the action so quickly. Do you show this in another video?
Hello, more often than not the slider is the issue. Not always however if you use the same slider it may get misaligned again, so best to replace it all together.
Sorry you were stuck for so long. Glad you were able to get out of the skirt. If by any chance that happens again and you have no tools try using a staple remover if you have one handy to open the top stops up and remove them and pull slider off that way.
Based on how this works, I honestly have no clue how it’s actually possible for it to become misaligned in the first place. That’s make no sense.
Just happened to me that's why I searched to find out what to do!

All of my zipper videos have the same way to remove the top stop. You can check out the other ones and see if that helps.
Here is a video on how to remove the top stops. I hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/K0lsEKsQqk0/v-deo.html
What did you do off camera there??? Is there something we have to do to the zipper at that bottom end first?
I did not do anything off camera. Was just getting ready to zip the jacket back up and was distracted by the tv lol
Where to get top stops& new sliders /tools needed??
You can get them off Amazon
Thank you! Problem Solved : - )
Glad to help!
Why did you say replace the slider? Is a broken slider the cause of the misalignment?
Hello, more often than not the slider is the issue. Not always however if you use the same slider it may get misaligned again, so best to replace it all together.
Will this method still work if jacket has two sliders ?
Yes it will work the exact same. Will be posting a video on how to do that soon.
I just fixed it using force and only now i find this video😭😭
Will this work on a backpack?
Yes it will work the same with a backpack.
I have misaligned zipper on a skirt and it's stuck almost at the top I can't get out have no tools and I've been struggling with it for an hour
I have escaped after around 2 hours
