Interesting historical fact......as you can hear in the interview, Mick, Charlie and Ronnie flew to Paris the day after this interview to begin work on their classic "Some Girls" album at EMI Studios. One of the reasons why the album was such a success is that it was the first Stones album in 7 or so years that was recorded in one place with the band constantly around the studio. The reason why some of the prior albums were erratic is that the band would record for 4 days, tour for 2 weeks, record one day, take 9 days off, etc. And all the recording would be in different cities. For SG, the band was committed to stay in Paris until they had their masterpiece. However, the reason why SG was a smash was not because Keith was free from heroin use. He didn't kick his habit until just before the "Some Girls" tour. He did it prior to rehearsals in Woodstock in the spring of 1978. However, this didn't lower his intake of cigarettes, Rebel Yell, Jack Daniels, cocaine, reefer and Lord knows what else.

All three look & sound like they have'nt slept anytime recently !! At about 7.25 I love where Mick says '...& drummer's missing a beat... ' & Charlie quietly mutters ' Nah... that's never 'appened ' !

Thanks for putting this up really enjoyed it, seems like they changed their tune since, as to the selecting of tracks, now they say they all came from the Paris shows. We saw them in London the week before, in May 76, I can understand why people would not all rave about the album, but for those who saw that tour it's a really nice reminder, and some of it is really good, though not all.

    "Aye dew...'e doesn't...."
Chawlie Whuts again! Watts likes (as does Woods) the atmosphere of the close, smaller, intimate 'club shows' rather than the huge stadiums...and he "matter-of-factly" points to Mick, regarding his " 'e doesn't " response. Jagger sports stunned by this accusation!
Oh, Chawlie! How I wish I had met you, you clever fox! (Trivia: Didja know... Watts came up with the clever title of one of the RS's '60s ('66, '67?) LPs: "Between the Buttons." He also did the cartoon 'drawring' on the back, using the same title.)

It's interesting that some focus is on a film. Stoners have all seen video from several 76 shows, but not much mention is made of an official release. El Mocambo, whole show is still one of the Holy Grails. Ron Wood was everywhere in those years. For anyone looking for more renegade, derelict Stones related tracks from those years, check out John Phillips' album 'Half Stoned'. (Better than 'Pussycat'). Great Woody response to Jagger's comment regarding the three LP sides (consisting of the 'stadium shows'), where about "half the shows were rubbish" and half had mistakes, etc. Then...damn, Mick!...Jagger puts his huge foot into his even bigger (BANG) mouth regarding these mistakes when he basically 'bitches' about the "guitarrrrrs making mistakes" and the drums, etc. He clearly attempts to undo his foolish/narcissistic comment, as the train-wreck response continues, by including the other errors.
