I loved Gene Autry and Champion, and Gene's beautiful singing voice! My father took us kids to see Gene at his rodeo show back in the mid 1950s, and what a wonderful time we had as we watched him have Champion dance and do all kinds of tricks and Gene did amazing riding and rope tricks! I was very small, but I still have a few vivid memories of that great time! I don't remember Pat Buttram being there though!
THE GREATEST, MOST CHEARFULL, HAPPY GO LUCKY COWBOY WHO EVER RODE THE RANGE & AN EXTRA BEAUTIFULL & INTELLEGENT HORSE CHAMPION AS HIS COMPADREA ! WHAT MORE COULD ONE COWBOY ASK FOR !
I am currently reading Autry's Biography "Public Cowboy Number One," and "Head for Texas" mentioned in the book. Thanks for downloading this first episode.
Ringo Start commented that watching Gene Angry and other old cowboy movies that featured singing cowboys was what got him interested in pursuing a musical career. Ringo used to watch those movies on the weekends he stayed over at his grandmothers house. His grandmother also encouraged him to learn to do things with his "other hand" ( ambidextrous) to improve himself. That's how a "lefthander" that Ringo is learned to play a "right-hand" drum kit! Angry and Ringo: Two of the coolest dudes to walk the face of the earth!
I don't expect the left wing nuts to understand this, but this MAN as opposed to the likes of Cruise, Di Caprio, and especially De Niro was a real, true, to the maximum AMERICAN HERO, not just in the movies, I mean in real time life. Just go and read up on the man, okay! But the greatest thing about this individual is, is the fact that he lived past his 90's and was worth about three to four hundred million when he passed. PUH-LEASE, go and read about this real life "MAN," and not only in the movies, HERO!!!!!!
