  • We talk about safety when working on the high pressure system. If you are not trained on this system it can be dangerous. This video shows how to safely release the high pressure in the common rail. Remember never open the high pressure system when the engine is running.

    great video series are all comp u check fittings the same size to fit into a gauge???

      Well no not all the same. But on the cummins engines yes. You can find part numbers in my fuel system series on the common rail. There are of course after market ones that can be bought and work. We actually have 3 sizes of compucheck fittings we work with but they are on the hydraulics on the cranes and or the german engines.

    Im having a problem with my truck, every time i leave it parked over night, my truck start normal but after 10-15 seconds it quits. If i come to the truck and press the gas pedal it won’t quit. It is the fuel pump the problem? I already changed the check valve.

      If this started after you got fuel filters changed you might have a small air leak problem on the suction side-usually one of the orings on the suction side. Make sure your electric lift pump runs. Turn on the key and listen for the electric motor it makes a humm/buzz for 1 minute. After you turn on the key wait 50 seconds on your watch before you crank. If it starts ok and keeps running it is just fuel drain back. I dont think it is your fuel pump. There is a check valve at the engine where the fuel goes in. So as long as that does not have anything stuck in it (any dirt etc would have to get past the filter on the frame) the fuel cant drain out of the engine itself. But most of the time it is the filter housing on the frame that is the issue- and then it is usually an oring. I have had a number of people on the channel that had issues like you have and so far almost all of them had oring problems on the filter on the frame. Let us know what you find.

    What would cause the fuel to drain back to the tank even after the check valve in the filter base was changed?

      There are a number of things that can cause that. Are we talking about common rail or ifsm or another fuel system?
      There are slightly different answers for each fuel system. If you not sure put your engine serial number in the comment or send it to faultcodehelp@gmail.com if you want your ESN kept private.

      Did this start before or after the filter changes? Did you change filters due to this happening? Does it only happen when pulling a long hill or anytime you step into the throttle? what work has been done to the fuel system and how many miles or hours are on the engine? What engine do you have isx isl L9 b6.7???

    Did you say the system had maintain 12000 psi of pressure after 2 weeks of engine shutdown? Are you sure?

    • @ENGINESHOPJOE
      @ENGINESHOPJOE  2 роки тому +1

      No the system does NOT have to maintain that pressure. Don't panic about whether your system maintains pressure or not. I mentioned that so people would understand they can maintain that pressure so BECAREFUL when working on the system and do not assume just because the engine has not been started in a few weeks that there is no fuel pressure in the rail. Experience has shown that some engines maintain rail pressure for many hours if not days. Some you can watch it bleed on down using the insite data monitor key on engine off and 5 minutes after shutdown it has less than 1000 psi. There is Not a set pressure it should hold nor how long it should hold it.
      Thanks for asking!
