to be honest, Aiden would be able to come back, i mean scott got stabbed by a sword and evil stiles even twisted the blade and ect. and have seen derek get beaten up more than he should have survived from.. so they could basicly make a surprise return with Ethan come back and Aiden follow behind him and be all like "you really think im gonna die by getting stabbed once" with some sort of smirk :D
the thing is Jeff has said the wound was fatal unfortunately it didn't get shot the way he wanted it so they had his eyes go dark in post. Officially his charter is dead the same as Allison.

Yeah also at that point they weren't alphas anymore and they weren't in a pack so they were essentially weaker.
