Dr. Judy, thank you for taking a stand for pet owners against these big corporations. I know it's scary for you to do, but I just want you to know how much we all appreciate you.
My vet, who unfortunately has passed, told me 10 years ago that Purina is the worse thing you can feed a pet. Took his advice & NEVER feed any of my animals Purina!!
These big pet food companies need to be held accountable for their horrible decisions and actions which are harming pets and animals they need to be held accountable not only civilly but criminally and until that happens they will spend a little money to settle some little lawsuits and continue to do as they do I only feed commercial pet food as a backup I cook turkey and chicken other nutritious food did the cats and dogs will eat and that's a shame because it would be much easier to buy it but I don't trust any of it and it's only as a backup plan and if everybody thought that way and quit buying this crap then these companies would have to straighten their act up and sale right and just because you pay $50 for a bag of dry kibble does not mean it's any better than any other that you would buy and in fact in some cases it's worse this industry needs to be stood on its ear and things need to change and change drastically for the good because I have for one am absolutely appalled that they would produce a food that would injure or kill an animal that is absolutely unacceptable
Wow, such a shame there is a backlash, we deserve to know! If the food manufacturers are making a quality product there should be nothing to hide and they should be willing to be held accountable!
It's ridiculous that she has to spend her own money testing when Purina can afford to test. You would think that they would want to get to the bottom of it as fast as possible. Shows that profit is their top concern.
@@RealJasmineLove I'm sure they are testing. They are prone to big lose if this is proven to be a trend directly caused by them or by a wider market stakeholder. I know, it sucks, but this is how it works when it comes to money. So much for capitalism, huh?
That isn’t common sense. My animals are a little manipulative, hoping to get that treat from the pantry and will walk by their bowl all day. So let’s all be nice
Thank you very much, Dr. Judy! God bless you. All of us just want our animals to be healthy and safe. I hope we can get to the bottom of this. I have NO confidence in the FDA being up front and honest.
The government isn't the problem. Slaughterhouses and rendering plants hide what they're doing and block inspectors from doing their jobs. A member of my family worked for the USDA (the FDA doesn't control pet food), and the government is not the bad guy that certain political groups paint them to be. It's the corporations who are so greedy that they will put euthanized animals, cancerous dead animals, and other toxic "ingredients" in the country's pet food supply and hide it from inspectors and the public. It makes no sense to blame inspectors for trying to flush out these bad actors in the meat and pet food industry when it is the greed of corporations that are behind the poisonings of animals, not the "FDA," or the USDA. Inspectors are trying to keep our food supply safe. It's the corporations that are making us sick and it's them you should not trust. I am always shocked when someone blames the government for what private industry is doing. Put the bla,e where it belongs.
Thank you Dr Judy & Rachel Fusaro!! I’ve learned so much from you both over the last year. Thank you for standing up and advocating for our animals!! ♥️🙏🐾
' I asked an employee at a farm supply store, why their store brand was so much cheaper than the big name brands. He told me that almost all the dog foods are made by Purina, but are packaged under other brand names. So, if that is true, its a crap shoot finding safe dog foods. '
Thank you ! I had 6 sick ferals from 9 lives my farmer friend lost 9 cats . I think the bone broth I make for them saved them . What a horrible feeling I fed animals posion. My dogs eat raw
I donate chiropractic and acupuncture for rescues with trauma and neuro cases in Mexico. I absolutely love this channel thank you for posting! I was also educated in canine control. I am going to be attending veterinary college. I love this information, things do need to change! 🙌
Dr Judy, thank you for all of your hard and diligence and frankly, just for caring about pet safety and health. I'm so grateful I found you during this pet food scare and I will be making some big changes in this new year because of what I have learned so far. May God bless you in your tireless efforts 🙏
I learned about you through Rachel Fusaro and so thankful I did! Thank you for all your hard work, and whatever they say will only point more pet parents to you two.
I feed my cats raw bone-in chicken thighs I grind myself, and I buy them by the case from Sam's Club in Pennsylvania. The last case had a horrific chemical stench. A friend, upon smelling the offending meat, said "Choke a horse and gag a maggot." So I rushed to order ground turkey from a local farm that sells raw pet food (Hare Today). They also ship. I give them my hearty endorsement. Been buying from them for 15 years. I try to feed mostly chicken because of budget constraints. I've got four elderly cats to feed. Get away from processed food. More small businesses are stepping up to provide raw food for pets.
Muscle and bone isn't nutritionally balanced (but it's a GREAT start!) For anyone reading this, just make sure you add the correct ratio of organ meat and/or supplements...
@@emilythechef Muscle, bone and organ in the correct ratio. Additional supplements I use are egg yolk, vitamin B complex, vitamin E, taurine, a scoop of powdered greens, and fish oil or canned sardines. You can't just throw a chicken leg at a cat and consider it "complete." My cats' favorite is ground turkey, bones, and organs from Hare-Today. I adopted six cats in 2006 who've been raw fed their entire lives. Four still remain with me.
God bless you Dr. Judy and thanks for all you do. For those who may not be aware, the Purina brand is owned by Nestle (partner of the World Economic Forum (WEF))--if you know, you know. Important to note it's not the first time the Purina brand foods have been called out or prosecuted for poisoning pets. Hopefully, more people will spread the word.
Thank you so much Dr. Judy & Rachel Fusaro for your hard work and dedication to our fur babies. I truly appreciate you taking your time and sharing with us your knowledge about what you’re learning about the food industry and the problems going on. We hadn’t had a dog in 6 years after our two shih-tzus passed at 17 years old and my heart was so broken that I couldn’t even think about getting another one. So all of this to say, I was out of the loop and I didn’t do my research on food which is not like me. We finally decided on our next fur baby and we chose an English Cream retriever, we picked her around 15 weeks old. She was on a dry food when we picked her up. Her first trip to the vet once we got home was at approximately 16 weeks old the vet recommended Purina Puppy Plan. This was back in the end of September 2023, of course we chose to purchase it. I mean if our vet recommended it, it must be great right? Well I purchased the PPP weaned her over to it and she quit eating. We took her back to the vet and she had a UTI. My husband and I told him about her eating and then he said we could buy toppers. 🤦🏻♀️ We do like our vet however, it’s okay to agree to disagree. I purchased another small bag of PPP and she wouldn’t touch it. I said that’s it, no more. Our son has an English cream retriever and he’s almost a year older than ours and he feeds him TLC and gave us a bag to try at Christmas. We got home and I gave her some and she gobbled it up and now after a couple of weeks she has backed off from eating it. She’s loosing hair at an alarming rate, like we’re not used to seeing and the vet said she’s shedding her baby hair. I don’t believe that she’s loosing just baby hair and especially this time of year? Again back to the vet and he said, add fish oil and Benadryl. I purchased Omega 3 Fish Oil for Dogs - Better Than Salmon Oil for Dogs - Dog Fish Oil Supplement for Shedding, Allergy, Itch Relief - Supports Dry Skin, Joints - Dog Skin and Coat Supplement - Fish Oil Liquid. I put it on her food and she loves it, this is only day two and I’m not giving the full dose per her weight just yet. My concern is that every time I see for example salmon meal or any kind of ……meal in the ingredients, I’m scared that’s not healthy. We truly want to give her the best life and I’m always questioning whether this or that is truly good or not. I’m going to keep watching you and Rachel and I have no doubt that I will continue to learn how to make sure our girl is getting what she needs. I’m normally not one to leave a comment but my goodness, this is a long one. 😂 I’m going to go back and check out your other videos since I’m new here and I’m sure I’ll find some great content. You’re amazing Dr. Judy and again thank you for keeping us informed and encouraging us on your experience of caring for fur babies.
I remember the Hills fiasco! I was working in the veterinary world as a 28 year seasoned surgical technician, we literally canceled our contract with Hills!
I cannot thank you enough for all you are doing to get to the bottom of this. I am just a dog trainer trying to update everyone I can as we go, and I am getting pushback from social media, but my clients are listening and making changes.
No, it’s called “Saving Pets One Pet @ A Time”, spelled exactly like that. I’m so thankful for that group and social media to make me aware of why my baby Stan wasn’t eating his Purina, which was the only wet he’d eat prior. 2 ER visits and an urgent care later and thankfully he made it. He’s my ESA. He’s all I’ve got and God, I love him so much. He didn’t deserve that.
How horrific of a situation! This is one of the many reasons why I make my own dog food for my sweet animals. And they absolutely love it! Plus when I started that, I noticed that within two weeks it was as if they were reverse-aging. It was incredible. And I know exactly what they're getting and where it's coming from.
Thank you for all you do. I would think it would be in best interest of pet food companies to work with pet parents when there are possible issues. Otherwise it makes them look like they only care about money and the bottom line. It would be impressive if they would help their customers. They dont seem to understand how important our pets are to us.
Bottom line is this everyone: STOP FEEDING COMMERCIAL PET FOOD. PERIOD. Call around to your local butchers as some make healthy dog food. Yes, it's raw and how nature intended it. I fed my Lhasa Apso raw organ meat from the butcher and she had the best gut health than ever before. I handled the raw food w/ bare hands no problem. You have to educate yourself. You'll have feed veggies and fruits too. I can say this b/c I have done it.
Commercial dog food is poison for your pets. I don't feed raw meat either because dogs have been domesticated for thousands of years and don't have the same ability to fight off bad bacteria in raw meat that a wild animal would. That's like saying it's natural for humans to eat raw meat because hundreds of thousands of years ago we didn't have fire and couldn't cook our food. Dogs will do better on raw meat then they will commercial dog food because commercial dog food is absolute poison, but I'm not going to be feeding raw meats because of the risk of salmonella, Ecoli and many other pathogens in raw meat. Dogs can and do get salmonella poisoning as well as all the other bacterial infections just like us. Dogs are omnivores like people. They do not require huge amounts of meat every day. The longest-living dogs in the world all eat natural food, unprocessed and not a huge amount of meat, certainly not raw meat either. My black lab lived a very long healthy life and did not eat "dog food." She ate a wide variety of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, along with eggs, fish, and chicken. Red meat isn't the healthiest choice for dogs. It won't hurt them to have it a couple of times a week. Nobody will tell you this, but if you do your own research you will likely be very surprised by what the oldest living dogs eat. It's not a heavy meat diet. Dogs are not carnivores. We have to get away from the false idea that dogs should be eating large cows and pigs. That is completely unnatural and will shorten their lives if given in excess.
Thank you for your hard work. I have 5 imported German Shepherds. I don't feed anything on this list but shared it with several dog show friends. I know one friend feeds one food on the list. She is 80 yrs old, and im sure she doesn't need a huge emergency vet bill or to lose one of her 4 legged family members. 🐾❤🐾❤🐾❤🐾

I just want you to know as a dog trainer I appreciate everything that you do I'm not mad at you I get that it takes time but thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to bring this to our attention my dogs are all raw eaters and I'm trying to spread the word with my clients how important it is not to feed dry food to feed species appropriate food thank you for all you do I appreciate you
I appreciate the job you do for my dogs as we have just started having seizures with one. I will only cook for my dogs and provide needed supplements from here on in . most people don't realize just how easy it is to use an instant pot and buy the ingredients and cook once or twice a week.
Thank you. I switched to feeding all four of my dogs PPP Weight Management Chicken and Rice ( the kibble with shreds in it and a Beagle on the front of the bag) due to the DCM scare that started a few years ago. I top their food with a variety of things like Purina Beyond canned or Blue Buffalo canned, veggies, fruits, yogurt, kefir, homemade chicken broth, crushed flax, salmon oil, eggs, etc. They have never had any problems until in the beginning of the covid pandemic when I couldn't find their dry food anywhere. I had to go with the supposed same kibble sans the shreds, but the large breed formula with the yellow Labrador on the front of the bag. Boy howdy! They ALL got sick. Fortunately, I was able to order three bags of their regular kibble from a store an hour away from where we live, so I threw out the culprit bag. Since my dogs seem be ok, I am wondering if I should change food anyway. I am concerned boat switching, too, because I don't know any of the suggested food brands. It's alarming to see that any foods I thought are pretty good foods are all on the "don't buy" lists. I am stumped. I have four med/lrg dogs ranging in weight from 48 lbs. to 72 lbs. who eat twice daily, at 7:30 AM and at 5:00 PM, and receive homemade treats twice a day (very early when we rise at 4:00 AM, then in the afternoon before quiet time after their most active hours) of either dehydrated chicken breast/apples/carrots/sweet potatoes or small cookies I bake that are chock full of healthy stuff (oats, crushed flax, coconut flour, almond flour, peanut butter, egg, dried cranberries, dried blueberries). Even though I have downloaded your recipes I'm not sure how I can financially keep up for my pups. I wonder what I should do. So many thanks for caring so much.
Thank you (and Rachel) for putting on the Armour and putting out 'uncomfortable truths' that pet parents need to know of...🙏🙏 Btw...Love the curley hair👌💥😉
No processed kibble for our girl. We feed Big Country Raw's gently cooked food. Dr. Judy I wish your gently cooked food was available for Canadians!! Thanks for all you do.
I was looking on the website and I couldn't find any Gently cooked food. I am getting g a new puppy and I want to start out right. Can you tell me where to find it? Please and thankyou!
Thank you for all you are doing to get the word out on the tainted pet food. It's a shame that Purina will not take blame for the tainted pet food that has made many pets sick and also have killed many pets. My cat's vet recommended Hills a few months ago and I bought it when I could afford it but it caused horrible diarrhea in one of my cats so I stopped it. I thought Purina would be good until both cats began having bad diarrhea & vomiting. They have not had any diarrhea or vomiting since taking them off of Purina thank God. Due to older female cat being used to dry food simply because that is all her original owner fed her for the first two years of her life before I adopted her, she isn't used to eating just wet food, so I have bought Nine Lives & Iams dry food and so far so good with those brands. My younger male cat is used to wet food as I adopted him when he was a kitten but he still wants a little dry food but prefers wet food. I try to not buy as much of the wet food containing milk or gravy because that messes with their digestive systems but of course they need liquid in the canned food but just not milk or gravy. However chicken with gravy is all I could find a few days ago before my work shift and so far so good as they seem to really enjoy it and it has not messed with their gentle digestive systems thank God.
My dog died Christmas eve, he ate purina...I didn't know, I always trusted purina for years...he had similar symptoms as mentioned. I just started using Open Farm for my other 2 dogs after seeing the video by Rachael and you.
Our Pomeranian had both organix and stella and chewy's around thanksgiving and had about 1 week of bloody diarrhea, urgency, lethargy etc. Vet ran lots of test with no results. Thankfully, this resolved! We have been feeding him small batch and open farm with no illness or GI symptoms since!
One of my cats kept throwing up , getting hives and pulled out his hair on commercial cat food and my vet wanted to give steriods to help him keep it down . They fought me on whether or not it was the food, claimed he couldve got into something or it was a new candle etc. I was no, its the food, it has to be as i knew he had no access to cleaners and hubby has fragrance allergies. I went first to grain free to see if there was improvement which there was, and then to an elimination diet and finally to a balanced homemade diet. Whatever was bothering him wasnt the meat, organs, it was the grains, fillers, preservatives and thickers they put into it as close as i can figure. Hes been symptom free for over a yr and a half now. Now i have pray he never has to spend a night at a vet clinic, because they have policies against giving homemade diets.
I've had so many vets against raw feeding. Really ticks me off. I very rarely visit vets anymore. I did have a good vet who was okay with holistic foods but he retired and moved away.
I'm sorry, you are getting backlash? Those people can eff off. What are THEY doing besides sitting on a phone or a computer? Please don't direct, direct any talk to THEM Dr. Morgan. The majority of us are behind you 200%! Thanks for all you do!!❤
Thanks for your efforts. Do be careful these big selfish companies will do their best to discredit you and more if you become a threat to their wallet. They don't care about the crap they put in people food, so pet food is even less of a concern. Again thanks for your efforts.
Years ago after my cocker ate blue buffalo and suddenly had kidney failure. The vet wrote that she suspected it was the food and vitamin D poisoning. she lived for a short time and I had to infuse her each evening to flush kidneys but she died. The company refused to take responsibly even though on their own website I found they had a recall on their food for excessive vitamin D. I adopted many Dogs since and they all eat homemade or Small company raw foods. Thank you for all you do to protect pets.
@@elizabethhethera505 I like to make my own but when I don’t have time I’m currently using Viva Raw and have also used Darwin. Both are complete meals. I also purchase from Hare Today to make my own meals. I’ve never tried Smalls yet.
This happened to me last year. I feed my cats Fancy Feast and they either didn't want to touch it or were throwing up right away after eating it. I called Purina and they refunded me. I did mail some of the cans from each case I bought back to them, but ended up throwing out the rest. Of course I never heard anything about the food or if there was something wrong with it. I did notice that it depended on where I bought the food from because sometimes I buy from the local pet store, which I didn't have issues, and I would buy it from Chewy, which were the cases that were the issue. So now I don't buy their food from Chewy now and just buy it locally and haven't had an issue. I know I should probably change from Purina, but I have no idea what's better and don't have a lot of money. I have a few cats. It's not like I have one. I wasn't able to take them to the vet either because once I stopped giving them that specific food they stopped throwing up.
@@terriendicott6864 Yeah when I called they told me they just started to remove artificial flavors and colors from their food. They started with the grilled tuna, but it didn't have anything to do with that.
Oh my gosh!! Just came across this! My dogs got sick during this timeline! My dogs were vomiting, one worse than the other and I took her to the vet, cost me $750. Lab work was all fine. There is absolutely a purina problem along with other brands. I wish I had of know earlier. My pets were on purina and would not eat it even when i tried to add raw or anything else to it. So i tried several ‘good brands’ and Vomiting after every feeding along with runny poop and even dry poop. I had 2 dogs pass away because i could not figure out the problem. My nursing dog will not even eat the puppy chow so i had to switch to a tractor supply one. However, i will not be using their brand dog food either as to it being inconsistent with their dry kibble in several flavors. Guess straight raw it is where as i only used the kibble as filler. Thank you. Keep the informative comments coming.

Hi everyone. There is a video here on UA-cam called "Pet Fooled". It's a documentary about pet food. I worked in an office on a huge dairy farm. That place had a large dump where they threw the euthanized calves and cows. The carcasses rotted in the weather. A company would send a truck to pick them up once a month. The company makes byproducts and sells to the pet food companies. So the medications to euthanize, antibiotics, etc., is in the carcasses. Thus, in the byproducts they produce.
Dr. Judy, At the end of November a friend told me his dog got sick. The vet told him your dog has been poisoned by the food. 5k later the food is Victor. Victor recalled all their foods. I don’t know if they found out what was wrong with the food. Not too sure if it’s back on shelves. Another woman said her dog got sick from Diamond.she was in NYS. The man in PA.
Thank you... I have had issues in the past but now only feed from your recommended list. Love Steve's real food, Pup loaf etc. I was always told my pup Harry's tummy issues were normal for a little dog. Since changing he never has issues. The worst was after he stayed at a puppy hotel, and they feed him Hills - he was so sick and blood in his stool. Vet just said oh little dogs get sensitive stomach - grrrrr. I have been for the last year since I found you trying to recommend to everyone, I know to feed whole food diet. I have seen two friends' pups' health improves significantly. The challenge is their vets are still trying to get them to feed prescription diets - usually Purina and want to give all the drugs. People trust their vets and so do not question. Thanks again for all you do... I tell everyone I meet to watch your videos and to learn for themselves. As well as direct them to your website! Keep up the good fight - you are HUGHLY APPRECIATED!
My Goldendoodles are total foodies but all of a sudden, neither one is interested in eating Honest Kitchen dry clusters... I didn't see that one on your list... Who knows? No obvious symptoms of anything wrong, but sudden disinterest in food is weird...

And SAVE THE PET FOOD. Do NOT agree to send the pet food company the food. If you feel compelled to do so, only send a small portion. The pet food company may offer to pay your vet bills and reimburse you for your pet food. If you agree to this they will ask you to sign a form which will prohibit you from taking legal action. Common sense: if a pet doesn't want to eat a certain food, don't feed it to them.
But it doesn’t always mean if they eat it that it’s good for them
Sometimes you just have really picky cats that will eat that same exact thing the day before and then not want it the next day. It's not that simple.

Thank you for being here for us. 🙏this is such a scary time.
' I asked an employee at a farm supply store, why their store brand was so much cheaper than the big name brands. He told me that almost all the dog foods are made by Purina, but are packaged under other brand names. So, if that is true, its a crap shoot finding safe dog foods. '
Make your own. We do and our dogs have never been healthier

Thank you ! I had 6 sick ferals from 9 lives my farmer friend lost 9 cats .
I think the bone broth I make for them saved them .
What a horrible feeling I fed animals posion.
My dogs eat raw
Thank you
What are you feeding your ferals now?
Cats are obligate carnivores, unlike dogs. Why don't you feed your poor cats raw?
Thanks for all you do for our Dogs & Cats
Thanks for helping our pets❤
Dr. Judy I am actually scared for you . When you get in the way of big money they get vicious. Keeping you in my prayers
I donate chiropractic and acupuncture for rescues with trauma and neuro cases in Mexico. I absolutely love this channel thank you for posting! I was also educated in canine control. I am going to be attending veterinary college. I love this information, things do need to change! 🙌
Love the curly hair❤️
THANK YOU!! What a blessing you are to all of us that don't know where to turn.
Thank you for keeping on top of this and sharing what you can!
You are a hero!!! I am so grateful to you for ALL you do- ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Dr.
Thank you doctor and thank you & everyone else.
You are our hope❤❤❤
We need vets like Dr. Judy!!!! 💞💞💞💞💞💞 Thank you for this information.
Would you please post the recipe you use?
Thank you for being there on UA-cam to educate us pet owners thank you
Thank you for all you do.
Processed food food is Poison!
YES 100% agree!! Been doing this for the past 17yrs or so and all my pets have been SO much healthier its unbelievable! 👏👏👏

Thank you for your hard work. I have 5 imported German Shepherds. I don't feed anything on this list but shared it with several dog show friends. I know one friend feeds one food on the list. Thank you so much for providing this information!!! ❤️ ❤❤
Thank you to you and all of the volunteers helping with this!
Thank you (and Rachel) for putting on the Armour and putting out 'uncomfortable truths' that pet parents need to know of...🙏🙏
Btw...Love the curley hair👌💥😉
Thank you so much. I follow your council and I'm certain you have our and your 4 legged ones best interests at heart.

I was looking on the website and I couldn't find any Gently cooked food. I am getting g a new puppy and I want to start out right. Can you tell me where to find it? Please and thankyou!
look into raw food diet. better than cooking it for dogs
I just started using Open Farm for my other 2 dogs after seeing the video by Rachael and you.
sorry for your loss RIP
Our Pomeranian had both organix and stella and chewy's around thanksgiving and had about 1 week of bloody diarrhea, urgency, lethargy etc. Vet ran lots of test with no results. Thankfully, this resolved! We have been feeding him small batch and open farm with no illness or GI symptoms since!
Thank you for sharing and please keep us updated ❤
Thank you for what you do for pets of the world. It is really appreciated ❤
Thank you so much for taking this on.
I think you are going about it perfectly, and doing an excellent job! THANK YOU !!!
"I'm not going because I'll probably get shot" made me chuckle. Keep doing what you're doong, doc!
My vet said never use Blue. She said it is commonly known among vets.

They changed the seafood formulations in FF. NASTY GRAY WITH dark sludge in bottom of can. Now they are changing poultry.
@@terriendicott6864 Yeah when I called they told me they just started to remove artificial flavors and colors from their food. They started with the grilled tuna, but it didn't have anything to do with that.
The hard part is getting your cat to like a new food. They'll literally starve themselves before they'll try it!
Oh my gosh!! Just came across this!
My dogs got sick during this timeline! My dogs were vomiting, one worse than the other and I took her to the vet, cost me $750. Lab work was all fine. I thought of it being the food and stopped immediately and made them food myself instead. Got better right away. My husband fed them the food again one day and they got sick again!
Thank you.

Were fortunate in Australia that thete are other smaller companies making healthy ethical food. I took the time to research and research to find the best. We need honest and unbiased advice from people like you Doctor. Dont give up.
I just gotta say, Dr. Judy has inner and outer beauty! Thank you for all your information!
Great channel we are all grateful for all useful helpful info judy!
