FAQ's:
Q: I have tried all the steps seen here and the issue has not been resolved.
A: If the diagnostic test showed your Hard Drive to be healthy, or if you were unable to run the diagnostic test, your next step would be to try an install Windows.

You can create your own install media for free as seen in those videos or you can purchase it. You can see examples of the correct items here in the Repair Tools list: www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey
If Windows installs, then you know the issue was the Operating System. If it does not install, you may be looking at a bad HDD. It would then need to be replaced.
Q: The diagnostic test showd an error with my HDD. What do I do?
A: If your HDD shows an error, try reseating the HDD as seen here in this video. If fails to help and your HDD still shows an error, its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. If you would like help locating a compatible HDD, let me know or check here for some options: www.amazon.com/shop/pcmonkey/...
Q: I couldn't change my BIOS settings or I did change them and it didn't help.

If the key used here didnt work, try the other function keys. Also, some Lenovo computers have a NOVA button or a pin-hole reset that will take you to those options.

Hi Jamin! Thanks so much for sharing your videos! I tried changing options in the BIOS Utility including the date. I also was able to run the lenovo diagnostic system tests and they all passed. I'm still getting the Preparing Automatic Repair at start up after running those checks. I have a Ideacentre AIO700. Can you please help? Thanks in advance for your your help!
Good day sir. My problem is that my laptop shuts down after a short duration of turning on. I can access the BIOS stuff but again it just tuns of after a minute. TIA!
So after a windows update, I started boot looping on my old x1 carbon. Tried changing boot mode in bios. Time is right. I cannot boot to USB to install a new os. I tried factory resetting bios. Nothing. Should I try flashing the bios? I'm hesitant to go that option cause I can only mount the iso to a CD as it's not showing as bootable media in Rufus. Or is it a motherboard issue. Only thing I haven't tried is the cmos battery as I don't want to tear the laptop apart.
Ps it's not a spinning circle like it's not finding windows. Just Lenovo screen, no post.
It sees the hd and bootable USB in boot order. Change it to USB and load that first. Continues to loop and no post no matter what's on top
If this happened after a Windows update, are you able to locate any 'Uninstall Last Update' in BIOS? Or any Recovery or Repair options

@pc_monkey thanks for the reply. No spills etc. I tried to do a recovery using f12 but it failed saying c drive was corrupted. How do get to CMD to run a check disk? Didn't see any check disk in the Bios (F2). I even tried to change boot to legacy but that didn't help anything
I have a Lenovo T420. Dropped on my desk. Getting 2100 HDDO error and Media Cable Failure. Will NOT go into BIOS. Have tried everything, just goes to black screen. I have taken hard drive out and put it back in several times. Any thoughts? How would I find the cable?
First step would be to reseat the HDD. Sounds like you have with no luck. If there are any HDD Cables or other smaller boards that the HDD connects to before the motherboard, reseat those as well. If still no luck, your most likely looking at a HDD issue or Motherboard issue. Replace the HDD first and install an operating system to the new one. You can get help with that with other video links in the description of this video. If that fails to help, your may need to replace the damaged motherboard at that point :(
I have a V15 G2-ALC Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 82KD model. Would you have any knowledge of whether this model can get diagnostics up? Could not seem to get that in your steps.
If the diagnostic test showed your Hard Drive to be healthy, or if you were unable to run the diagnostic test, your next step would be to try an install Windows.

Hi Pc Monkey, I was stuck on boot loop on my Legion 5 Pro, the bios doesn’t have any change in Boot settings even if i disable safe setup mode, also the diagnostic setep provided by the company only gives option to choose bios settings or boot menu- which has windows and some Network boot option. Nothing was working since I couldn’t even reach automatic repairs before it crashes on booting screen and restarts. By some miracle my windows has booted now and is working fine but I’m scared of even shutting down my pc since this process wasted 2hrs of mine. What should i do now to fix this soo as it doesn’t happen again?? Since my windows is loaded and everything working fine i dont think it’s a hardware issue rather maybe my windows is corrupted?
how did you fix it ?
I have a Lenovo yoga C740 and I don’t have many of these settings. Watching you previous video on this matter you had said to switch to legacy mode or the mode currently not in use. If that isn’t an option for me what can I do ?

Hi! Same problem here, no boot mode/ uefi/legacy boot option. I couldn't run the tests (black screen) and haven't found any recovery/repair options either. Should I get it fixed professionally in this case? I need my pc back ASAP 😭 (Lenovo v15)

Well, maybe I didn't explain it well enough, my bad. What I meant is that when the "Lenovo" finally appears, there seems to be no way to turn the diagnostics on, there is no response. Only boot menu shows up right afterwards. And yes it could be overheating before. I left a game on and left the room for some time so I'm not sure what went on but often games in general are treating my pc quite harshly 😅

1. Were you able to run the diagnostic test?
2. Also, did anything happen before this issue appeared? Overheating, liquid spill, Windows update, etc?
No, nothing happened prior too. As a matter of fact, I used the flimsy keypad cover. I keep my little lenovo on the couch overnight. A couple mornings ago I started it up like I always do and I saw the blue screen that said your pc ran into some issues and needs to restart. I forcefully restarted it since the screen seemed to be stuck for sometime on that same screen, and thats when I ran into the boot menu. So I followed the steps to switch the boot priority to the opposite, for me it was legacy and instead of getting the boot menu, I did get as far as the lenovo logo unlike before, but now it just loops to the boot menu. So I found this update video and clicked your affiliate link for the anti static mat. Im in the process of removing the back of my Lenovo think pad, but the back won’t come off. I have an iFix it kit I bought from best buy awhile ago and while the screws around the border came off, Im not sure but I think the smaller ones that you cant see, if there are any screws in those holes at all because I cant tell, are stuck in. Im presently trying out the different screw tips to see if anything starts to unscrew. Im hoping that after I try to reseat the hard drive its good. But still trying to get the back off the computer.
I do however, have Edge which routinely and without prior warning updates on my computer. I dont know if something happened there or not. I just want to get back to my previous session so that I can at least save my latest files.
@pc_monkey just an update: I did get into the back of the pc and there was no hard drive caddy. The hard drive was screwed right in. I have not ran the diagnostic test so Im going to look at your videos and do that. Thank you. I will update the result.

I have a Lenovo x1 carbon that is booting. The windows logo appears and as soon as it stops loading, my screen turns black. Upon connecting my laptop to a screen (tv or monitor) it boots properly and i'm able to navigate and use the computer no problem. I can get the screen to work on its own at times by hard reseting it (holding power button for 20sec or closing the lid and opening it again a bunch of times). It is not a problem if i keep the laptop powered up and connected to an outlet 100% of the time. it becomes a problem when the laptop goes iddle for a long period of time or when the battery runs out. I'm using windows 10 and all my updates and drivers are up to date. I have played with the BIOS setting nothing outside the norm. I'm suspecting a software issue... I attempted a fresh install of windows 10 twice and windows 11 twice. Same problem... HELP
Wow! You really covered all the basis and troubleshooted everything! Well done:) At this point, if you have already reset BIOS to factory settings, your most likely looking at a motherboard issue :( It would have to be replaced.

@PC_Monkey Thanks for your video. Unfortunately, I've tried all the options and my lenovo t570 won't boot... anything. But that didn't work either! Tried a different linux installation, tried different usb ports, nothing. If you've any ideas or tips, would be greatly appreciated!
