    @TheCandidGuy I think its hilarious that so many people are using 96 in a "he was only 96" fashion. 96 is 40 years longer than the average life expectancy the year he was born and roughly 20 years longer than today. 96 is fucking amazing and 96 for him really was 96 years of living because he was so healthy that his quality of life was not as markedly reduced with age. He LIVED for 96 years, helping millions, and had great quality of life. To want anything more would epitomize selfishness.

    Jack Lalanne didn't die of old age, he died from a case of pneumonia. I say this because even at 96 he likely had the heart and respiratory system of someone much much younger.

  • @redmustang03
    @redmustang03 13 років тому +4

    He did die of pneumonia. He refused to see a doctor when his family pushed for it and he was still doing his exercises the day he died. This means if he was treated that he probably either one would be alive or he would live a little bit longer.

    I am very hurt by this sad news; I loved Jack Lalanne and his programs about good healthy eating and drinking fresh nutrient beverages. He always inspired me for his nobleness and candor. May God bless you always.

    Jack Lalanne was a father figure to me when I was a small boy (my Dad died when I was 4). His positive healthy living image was inspiring and helpful to me when I needed and male adult figure in my life the most. I used watch him on T.V. and try to do most of his exercises but could not do his advanced ones. I used to wish that I had one of his "Glamor Stretchers" so I just pretended to have one.
    Jack Lalanne is the undisputed father of physical fitness and good health.

    Nice to see the tributes but during the 1980's many in the mainstream media went after Jack for his advice and the money he made. GIVE ME A BREAK. Yes, Jack made money. But he was such a motivator for many including my Grandmother who broke her hip but never gave up because of Jack Lalanne.

    Damn...RIP Jack Lalanne. Good to hear the afterlife will be a healthier place with Jack Lalanne and Bruce Lee there.

    What a hell killed my idol Jack Lalanne ? Pneumonia ? Pulmonary embolism ? Excessive burst of oxigen free radicals from excessive training ? Although achieved a quality of ageing which few can obtain, he maybe would lived longer. Knowing the causes of a death in aged athletes should only help others, even after physical death.

    @POTATER1228 Listen, I'm not trying to bring the guy down. I respect him for who he was and what he did. The point I was trying to make was that living a healthy and happy lifestyle WON'T make you live longer then your genetic predisposition, but it will make you dodge most age-related illness. Just recently there was a lady in Cuba documented to be 126 years old. Living in Cuba, I dont think she had the technology and money that Jack had. Why did she live longer??? Genetic Predisposition!

    @serafinichess Agreed. For a number of years I was that way, trying to build big, hollywood type muscles. Eventually I gave that up as useless and today I just work out to maintain my physical strength. Granted, I am blessed with a fast metabolism and will probably never be really fat in my life. But I still can't stand those muscelheads who stand there screaming they're heads off and making life miserable for everyone else.

    @TheCandidGuy Genetics DO count for a lot in people. But Environmental conditions are also a huge factor in JAck living a long active lifestyle. True his parents live above average ages.But JAck's promotion of health undoublty can help the QUALITY of life. How many 96 year olds seemed as alert and lively as Jack. Will all people who live active lifestyles live to see 90? No. Will they be able to avoid crippling helath conditions? Yes. As a sidenote, Jack didnt die naturally. Pneumonia got him

  • @Pianoconnoisseur29

    @serafinichess Also on top of the other response talking about agreement etc... if you don't have talents all you have to do is give all you got to make a girl happy imean why would you go through all the trouble of paying a place to use their equipment just to impress a girl I don't understand some of those people.

  • @TheCandidGuy
    @TheCandidGuy 13 років тому

    @mapscannotcontainme I would rather live up to 70 years and be healthy, alert, and self-relient, then live to be 100 and spend the last 20-25 years of my life pissing and shitting on myself. I agree with you man, that would epitomize selfishness. But the fact of the matter is, nothing can withstand 'physiological aging.' Even the stars have life cycles. Thats why I always say, "eating healthy and being active won't make you live longer, but give you a better quality of life."

    @serafinichess lifting weights sir! and juices are indeed what makes a difference and makes you healthier and gives you more of a quality life, yes you may be happy, yes you may be in good health but what you don't have and don't realize is a quality life. jack invented alot of these machines that are now in gyms and have been for over 5 decades. without those machines we wouldn't have gyms to make people better themselves then we'd have , careless eaters are lucky to be living. No offence.

    @serafinichess Ok i agree with you about one thing and that's avoiding stress and working with the diet yes i get that but not all guys go to the gym for that purpose , yes i'm going to the gym but not to impress girls as a matter of fact that's what i care least about, if a girl cares more about muscle than the guy himself i don't belive that to be the right relationship because imean cmon a guy doesn't need muscle to impress a girl all a guy needs is talents, ex: i play piano and they love it.

    It doesnt matter how much bad or good things you do. Everyone ages diffrently. If you think really bad about the world you will probably die earlier because living is about will power. We have the power to keep going through physiological health not just physical. He had a great run but it just one of those things that we cant always control. It's just fate.

      David Smith You're obviously the type who thinks that simply because your heart is still pumping blood through your veins and your lungs are still pulling in and pushing out air, you're living--that quality of life means nothing, and once you reach a certain age, you're old and should act it. I'm sure glad I don't share your attitude.

      I somewhat agree. Since this is a CBS video, you should go find another CBS video where Andy Rooney talks about being healthy and how he was not that obsessed with it as much as Jack Lalanne, and he only lived to 92, or four years shorter than him. So, maybe making lifestyle sacrifices does have its diminishing returns.
