This was helpful. As a small channel, it’s hard not to think about the “business” of building an audience, but this conversation reminded me that it’s not about the metrics - it’s about making a connection with like-minded people and expressing oneself in a creative way.
You've gotten so much more comfortable interviewing folks, Ali. It's a pleasure to learn from you and your guests in these sessions. Watching you thrive is a joy.
Very helpful video! Although I do feel that the “sitting side by side” interview format is kind of awkward 😂 not necessarily for me but for Ali and Thomas.
2:20 It can be easily taken as downplaying Thomas effort or misguiding the IMPRESSIONABLE audience by saying that Thomas started a new channel completely FROM SCRATCH and built a business making him 100K a month. Yes, Thomas has built 100K a month business BUT he has done so by leveraging on his BRAND that he has WORKED HARD on OVER MANY YEARS! And thank you Thomas for clarifying some of it 3:13 that there was a big audience around Notion. 4:58 and that Thomas is continuously working on his brand by NOT teaching Notion but by selling his ability that he can teach HOW to organize and externalize information in anything including Notion.
Thomas is the goat. Having had many conversations with him, it's awesome to see how things have clicked in his mind and how to try to apply them to my own work flow.
What most business gurus actually want to say but can't sell is that you find demand trying a bunch of things out and see what sticks. Use a startup mindset and create MVPs.
I was literally watching another Thomas Frank video when this started playing in a separate window. Love you both, this was a great convo. I LOVED the guide Thomas refers to with the AI audio transcript and how it summarized content within Notion - incredibly useful and very easy to follow via video and text. Absolutely a go-to when I need an explainer, which, due to the subject matter ... is often 🤣
Wowsers, just the motivation I needed to get me back on track. Thank you for sharing your insights from over 10 years on UA-cam, including the not so nice bits. Makes it def more real.
Oh, livestreaming, you both like it.. i've actually done 100 of those, weekly, grew the subs from 160 to 520, great stuff! Learned a great deal about the tech, about being comfortable in front of the camera, but my stuff is brutaly niched so I'd love to reach more people. That's why I'll release videos and keep livestreaming monthly.
I live in Denver! So cool to know you're here! Maybe we can meet one day.. Huge fan of your stuff man, built the PARA Dashboard from your video and its helped me a ton & Ali is MUY GUY! we appriacate all you guys do thanks!
Thanks for the talk. That was a nice Chat. I'm keen Thomas to test your new tool! Take care of note falling in the trap of perfectionism. The iPhone wasn't perfect at the beginning. You should plan to iterate. That's my 2 cents advice 🙂
This is peak digital nomadism - travelling the world to literally interview all the people in person that we've all seen virtually in the last years. Wow.
Awesome! This felt slightly like two halves of my brain having a conversation. Thomas as the logical, practical one and Ali as the curious but distractable one. XD
After years of following you both, this felt like that Power Rangers episode when the red power ranger meets the other red power ranger, best crossover ever 🤩😂
Sooo many youtubers are afraid it alls gona stop... "You cant be a 40 year old youtuber"... That thought is just because youtube did not exist before.... Maybe 60 year olds or 80 year olds might not watch youtube alot now, because they did not grow up with it (and material for them might not exist on youtube yet) but the audience at youtube now wont stop watching just because they turn 40, 50 or 96... they will grow with you and the interests will change throughtout the years... Is my thought so the worry ab beeing too old for youtube, that does not exist... its just the effect of youtube beeing so new and when you STARTED on youtube there were not that many 75 year olds watching. When YOU are 75 the other 75 year olds WILL watch youtube or the "same" kind of "platform". I strongly believe.
Love the sound of these but confused as to how they would fit into my rotation of Puma Velocity Nitro 2s, with a supershoe and Rebel v3. How are you guys actually using this shoe?
Obviously, the main ingredient in the secret sauce was Frank's existing success/fame/popularity from primary YT channel. To frame it like "100k a month youtube channel out of nowhere" as if anyone could do it if they simply had the idea and the gusto is sensationalism at best and intentionally deceitful at worse.
Excellent content. I learned about high oxalates years ago. So, I do avoid foods with them, except dark chocolate. Sighhh. I used to eat 1-2 pieces a day. But, I've been eating too much recently. At least it's tested and below the levels of heavy metal toxins level, organic, etc. It's Blue Stripe.
I hope you made a series where you interview other UA-camrs. I just want to see talk to Joey (Better Ideas). That dude got 2.68 million subs with relatively few videos.
This is the first video if yours that I've watched because I haven't seen Thomas Frank in a while I was curious about what he was doing and what he has to say....
One of the very first productivity Gurus I started following. Thomas was my bias and Ali being a bias-wrecker, whom now have totally become my bias.🤍 Truly grateful to see them both.
People doing UA-cam videos as a means to making money rather than as a means to making videos that they enjoy It's better being intrinsically motivated. I learn a lot with these productive gurus. HOPE i can make progress on my UA-cam channel as well .
I bought that notion template a year and a half ago and it's a learning curve in itself to use it, would be interesting to see how many people bought it vs actually use it as I think there's a lot of friction there
Always a great video since it's ali, and thomas. But I felt like you were not paying much attention to what he says. and gets your focus driven away multiple times. I don't know if that's a style you want to implement because of the Podcast.
I am confused. One is wearing a tshirt, the other a turtleneck. WHAT WAS THE TEMPERATURE IN THE ROOM?!
It’s because Ali uses Celsius and Thomas uses Fahrenheit.
This was helpful. As a small channel, it’s hard not to think about the “business” of building an audience, but this conversation reminded me that it’s not about the metrics - it’s about making a connection with like-minded people and expressing oneself in a creative way.

These informal chats with Ali (+guest) are some of my favourite. Hope to see more!
Ali - Thank you for asking the hard questions. We appreciate you
My take-home: Find the intercept between the demand, my passion, and my skills.
How to find demand?
What most business gurus actually want to say but can't sell is that you find demand trying a bunch of things out and see what sticks.
Use a startup mindset and create MVPs.
One should also conduct research to identify the demand in their field of interest.
Love Thomas' comments on building stuff you want to do. Epic convo - thanks guys.
This has been one of my very favorite videos from either of you. Thank you for having this chat and sharing. 🙏🏻
This was a great video, thank you Ali and Thomas!!

You guys are my most fav UA-camr 💕 Thankyou for this chat❤
This is such a fun format! Love what Thomas Frank has done with Notion and I'm so thankful we gain a greater insight into that!

2 of my favourites together - just starting my journey of YT creation and get great inspiration from you both.
Now I'm at the end - managing your psychology as a founder and focusing on input goals - this is gold, thank you Ali and Thomas!
Two GOATs. Thanks for all you do for the Notion Community guys!
I live in Denver! So cool to know you're here! Maybe we can meet one day.. Huge fan of your stuff man, built the PARA Dashboard from your video and its helped me a ton & Ali is MUY GUY! we appriacate all you guys do thanks!
This was awesome! It’s so great to hear from both Ali and Thomas together. Especially hearing their thoughts and perspectives on UA-cam
TF has his priorities right 🙌
Never heard of Thomas Frank before but he's awesome!! Thanks for sharing, Ali!
😮 two favourite youtubers! It's like it's Christmas again!!!🎉❤😊
Ali Abdaal and Thomas Frank in the same video- I just had to watch❤
Thanks for the talk. That was a nice Chat. I'm keen Thomas to test your new tool! Take care of note falling in the trap of perfectionism. The iPhone wasn't perfect at the beginning. You should plan to iterate. That's my 2 cents advice 🙂
I genuinely LOVE this video! Thanks Ali, Thomas and Team Ali ❤
This is the best kind of content, IMHO!
Ali looks like a Muppet next to this guy 😂
That was such an interesting conversation. Thank you guys!
Great insight Ali, thank you for the interview ❤
really crazy we need more accidents like this
Big TF fan. Such a wholesome guy.
This is great! Wish this was an hour-long conversation!
Man, hearing Thomas talk about letting go of editing and perfectionism was kind of therapeutic
Great video concept. Two of the OGs
I like the background music at 20 minutes :) it feels super relaxing :)
Loving the activity on the Appendix channel!
My most favorite productivity gurus in the same video. 🔥🔥🔥
Great talk!
This is peak digital nomadism - travelling the world to literally interview all the people in person that we've all seen virtually in the last years. Wow.
This deserves to be on Deep Dive
Aw that wee wave at the end of the video 🥰
Awesome! This felt slightly like two halves of my brain having a conversation. Thomas as the logical, practical one and Ali as the curious but distractable one. XD
You can clearly see that he really cares for his team!
Thomas Frank is a phenomenon 🙌
Very nice! I found this very valuable!
I like the one mic set up
Nice timing ❤
After years of following you both, this felt like that Power Rangers episode when the red power ranger meets the other red power ranger, best crossover ever 🤩😂
hahaha Ali's expression is awesome😂
lolll more Ali than the usual tortured smile we get 😆
So many golden nuggets in this video
Missed hearing Thomas, bring the podcast back 😢

Looking forward to a podcast with Matt D'Avella
Cool mic setup

short no ramble podcasts yayyy
"it'd be harder if i wanted to paint all day or someth" me as an artist: 👁👄👁 😂
Very good video!

Makes 100 grand a month, and my OCD is wondering what brand/color/sheen the paint is on the back wall.
great vid
Ali abdaal wear two watches to be 2 x productive.
Big salute.😂

haha! such a perfect way of putting it
Why don’t such accidents happens with me?
People doing UA-cam videos as a means to making money rather than as a means to making videos that they enjoy
It's better being intrinsically motivated. I learn a lot with these productive gurus. HOPE i can make progress on my UA-cam channel as well .
11:17 genius question.
Ali's reaction in the beginning has to be a gif.
Yoooo my man's drinking a Jocko GO. Those are amazing drinks.
Why don't you share any links or references from your guests?
It's okay that you want to sell your products, but this is not about you.
I'm never gonna trust a man wearing that sweeter
I bought that notion template a year and a half ago and it's a learning curve in itself to use it, would be interesting to see how many people bought it vs actually use it as I think there's a lot of friction there

It's feel like deep dive channel Ali.. expecting vlogs here 😢
This is the first time I've noticed that Ali wears two watches.
the second one is probably Whoop, not a watch
What mug is that Ali?
Seemed to have never ending coffee lol
Ali should get on Healthy Gamer GG on his podcast!
Never knew TF is Denver based. Lots more content creators low key out here these days
Accidentally make 100k 😅 I want dm accidental like that
Oh, my god 💛💛😂😂😂
That's a tiny guitar
Pistes audio please !!!!!!
Editing is also the worst part for me
Is it just me or is Thomas Frank so ai-generated? ❤ bro is wax like
Seeing my two favourite productivity bros in the same room is surreal, been watching both of you guys for years😭🫶🏾
really crazy we need more accidents like this
