I loved Myra. She was probably the toughest Top Dog. She was never afraid to get her hands dirty and did not rely on heavies to do her bashings. She was a great character and an excellent Top Dog.
Desmond had so many sides to her, which made her the best top dog ever. She could fight like a man and feared nobody but she had a human side and genuinely cared for the women. She had principles. 1985 could have been so different had Grundy’s agreed to the pay rise Anne Phelan deserved
It was all down to how the writer's made the characters. They were all dispensable. Actors give them life, true, but they can't live without the entire crew behind the scenes. I personally liked her 'ending', along with a few other memorable 'exits'
It’s was a shame that they killed Myra off but they refused to give Anne Phelan a pay rise. Ironically The Ballanger Siege was the most expensive thing PCBH ever did.
She was angry that the character Marie Winter got a helicopter escape thinking it cost tons of money , the reality was that it was Grundy's own helicopter that cost nothing. Val Lehman was the same she wanted more money and very nearly came back on the 3rd time of asking in 1985 she refused after not getting the amount she wanted so they killed her off offscreen.
It was a crime that they did not introduce Myra Desmond to Wentworth. After they stupidly killed Bea off they should of fixed it by introducing Myra into the show as she is the type of character we would of rooted for. She would of been a tough top dog but a fair one who genuinely cared for the women
At 16:15, Desmond’s biggest mistake - ever trusting Selby. Why she didn’t get Selby out of the laundry will always be a mystery. Aside from that, the end of 1984 would have been the perfect time for Ferguson to have left while the character had any credibility
I couldn't agree more. After Myra, Judy, Erica went it just got boring. I still watched to the end though as I so wanted to see Joan the Freak Ferguson get her comeuppance.
I had tears running down my cheeks when Myra died such a sad scene she was one of the best top dogs

For me the best were undoubtedly Nola McKenzie and Marie Winter
Myra got more involved than Bea did. I felt Myra had the edge over Bea as Top Dog. I loved both Myra and Bea.

I agree, no top dog after her was nearly as good but at least she got a good write out.

Myra definitely was the best. The show went downhill very quickly after she left. Nora was just plain boring as Top Dog.
