That is a great question! No one has ever asked that. I use hair wax to keep it down, which is why my hair always looks greasy.

Fantastic demonstration. Looking at the principle of "Skin Effect" for grounding in water. I am certain that there is a way to use it to walk on water. However you need a way to have an oscillator in parallel with your body as in a Pierce Oscillating Circuit (invented by very distant cousin) . Your body acts as the capacitor and the resistors.
edit: theory behind this is due to high frequency causing a resistance to grounding. If your feet contact area is not high enough to ground the high voltage high frequency through the water should cause you make the surface of the water have a stronger surface tension due to the molecules arranging themselves to the field. I don't think you will technically oscillate all that much, just have the potential too if grounded, and that potential is resisted by the water.

I can understand the frustration. You will LOVE the next episode....It is a DIY kit, that was sent to me from New Zealand. It's a 30 dollar kit(NZ dollar), which is about 20 US dollars. Really high quality, easy high voltage. The episode will be about assembling it, and i'll give away five of them to viewers.

Also, about earthbending, did you see NightHawkInLight's video about homemade electrostatic generator? He shows neat effect of little sandstorm you can create between your palm and some surface with sand. Guess this could be useful to you

cool I have done something similar using a van de graaff generator. I would point my finger at my kids at a few feet away and charge there shirts. And then point at the furnace ducting in the ceiling and you could hear the crackling of the electricity flowing off the end of my fingers.

I have a question about your watch. Is it a fully mechanical watch? As I was lead to believe that using high voltage currents in tesla coils and such could or would fry electronics at close range. Have I misunderstood the risk?
I have some watches I definitely don't want to ruin when using a coil, but also notice you've got one on in all your videos. So just curious.

Great question! So. My watch is fully encased in metal. Anything with a full, or mostly full shell of metal, will be protected from electric currents. No matter the frequency or amount of current. This is because electricity travels on outside of an object, of object is fully covered in metal. known as faraday effect. My watch, and my phone (I use for filming many shots) get directly shocked all the time. Sometimes with sparks a foot long. But, faraday effect saves them.

I was under the impression that the field from the devices themselves could hurt the electronics, even without a direct strike. Good to know that they aren't quite as vulnerable as I thought.
Still plan on trying to keep unnecessary electronics at a distance just to be safe. But it is very great to hear that if I forget or miss that something is a bit too close, I am not likely to quickly fry anything.
Replacing phones, watches and cameras would quickly become costly and easily eclipse the price of the coil itself... lol

I’m happy to help! For perspective, my iPhone has been physically shocked a dozen times. And even while filming, strong EM fields have penetrated it. Likely not too healthy for devices to do so, but faraday effect provides some level of protection.

There are actually a couple companies that make voltage multipliers, and quite nice ones. HOWEVER, building things yourself is always tremendously more fun. So much more fun and rewarding. It like running a mile, or driving a mile. Running it is far more rewarding.
