Blue Lizard Pecking Order

- Since I'm still learning how to edit videos, I mostly focused on audio mixing for this one, sorry its a bit messy and lacks the narrator voice. I'm using free programs in order to make these so quality is a bit dodgy and inconsistent at times as my free trials for stuff runs out.
Emojis :hunterok: and  are from Rain world's official discord server. - Ігри
blues are like the chihuahuas of the lizards. they know they're small and weak, and theyre just constantly vibrating with compressed rage about it
Reds are the pitbulls then?
@@springfaux6991 yes, greens are the bulldogs and pink lizards are i guess the foxhounds
Ive met two of the litterally sweetest chihuahuas in the world once, there honestly not that aggressive if you actually meet one.
well cause inside this little body is a grown ass dog that people didn't care enough to fit its nature with its body they just wanted a small purse dog
@@A_Rainworld_Fan. it depends on how they’re raised, my aunt has a chihuahua and it is a demon, i remember it biting me when i was younger, my other aunt has a chihuahua pug hybrid (a chug) and its like the chihuahua starter pack but instead of biting you she just licks you instead
through my hundreds of hours i never knew how violent blue lizards were with eachother
in challenge 2 and 7 i watched as they would maul each other till the other died
Probably because they’re even more violent with you
It wasn’t like, insanely difficult or anything, but there was a niche layer of difficulty in one of the Saint challenges for me (the one where you have to lure the blue lizards into the monster kelp) where the two blue lizards on the left would always start fighting so i’d have to grab their attention quickly before they injured each other - I failed an attempt because one of the lizards got too injured to get to the monster kelp and couldn’t die as a result (kind of funny!)
They have to take a win where they can
Yah it took 400hrs then I saw a few fights and I did some research now I never look at them the same
The depth of the Rain world ai is insane, I wish more UA-camrs showcased it
I cant tell if your pfp is crimtane bars or hellstone

@@gusfringfromfortniteuwu1648 its hellstone

It really is a treat just watching the wildlife. My only gripe is how obvious it is that this ecosystem is unsustainable with how top-heavy it is. Perhaps it'd be something worthwhile for modders to correct, having all of the creatures have to deal with food and reproduction, and tailoring spawns and maybe even introducing new creatures to balance things. Just enough to make slugcats seem like just another part of the food chain rather than the focal point.
I dont think its all that top heavy, you have plenty of prey too Slugcat, glow rabbits, centipedes, scavenger, eyebug, batfly and dropwig
@@randomcatmeow1394 They have *one* slugcat, the glow rabbits are exclusive to a single region, any centipede larger than a baby is just as likely to kill the lizard than the other way around and the babies can be hard to come by, scavengers have spears and travel in groups so they're another toss-up for if the lizard with take them down or be taken down, eyebugs are also rare and fast to boot, batfly cannot be eaten by any lizards other than the strawberries, and the dropwig is in and of itself a predator thus making it part of the top-heavy nature of the ecosystem.
Let me put it this way: How much of the population of any given region do you think is cut down by each cycle? How many predators do you think actually manage to drag prey to their dens in that time? If it weren't for the lineage system making sure ever region could persist indefinitely I can't see it being more than three cycles before the lizards and dropwigs became outright extinct.
@@vadandrumist1670 i agree for the most part, though I regularly see even small lizards like blues incapacitate notably large centipedes. In fact, lizards seem to struggle with the smallest ones the most as they can't avoid getting shocked unless their bite kills the thing. It could be that centipedes are more important to sustaining the ecosystem than it might appear. Centipedes also seem to feed on either growth or insects of some sort as they never drag corpses back to their den. This also applies to centiwings and auqapedes. Not reds however.
Scavengers being a toss-up probably partly helps the situation as they can both sustain and cull predators. Given that there are on average 3 vultures per region they also can be credited with controlling populations, and one lizard seems like it would be enough to feed an individual.
It should be mentioned that lizards, at least, can go multiple cycles without food without experiencing starvation (other than getting mighty irritable and hungry). This can be observed while getting The Friend passage.
Lastly and this is to be fair to the other commenter, lizards also predate on yeeks (though they aren't very common), squidcadas, noodleflies and spiders (which are admittedly also predators).
All being said I think you're still absolutely correct, but these things are worth mentioning. I too would love to see a mod that adds a few larger primary consumers. In the meantime it's a good thing (for us at least) that every creature is doomed to the cycle.
@@johnnodwarf1201 Yeah I agree. There definitely needs to be more creatures on the lower, middle and top of the food chain. But for what it has, it's already amazing. Specially considering that only one programmer designed and made all of this
yeah especially regions like underhang which have like tons of yellow lizards but only a few grapple worms to eat and they still get bullied by dlls. Sky islands is probably the best functioning ecosystem in the game, it has plenty of food for the lizards in the form of squicada
It’s actually super interesting just watching them. Their Ai is so advanced feeling and they actually feel like other players at times. They can make mistakes, they’re hunting to survive and not just to prove an obstacle for the player, they don’t spawn for the sake of the player and rather do their own thing outside of the player’s view, and they act differently than other lizards of the same species (ones more aggressive while others are more skittish). It’s just so interesting to learn their behaviors.
all the years that were spent on working rain world paid off, like the amount of detail is crazy
I never thought the lizards would actively attempt at drowning each other- specifically blue lizards or any at all. Damn
You can almost see what the lizards are thinking when they act, such as Midge trying to get a sneak attack on Blue Champ
Im watching a nature documentary rn
Midge trying a sneak attack and chickening out the moment Champ started walking toward them is such a mood.
6:10 local blue lizard tries the dropwig lifestyle
i love how small they can be
same, i like that xd
i remember seeing a blue lizard smaller than i was and being completely astonished, it was pathetic
This video was really interesting to watch, I had no idea they were aggresive with each other.
Actually obsessed with these, I've rewatched this twice and the green lizard one 3 times (I've got memory issues, so it feels like experiencing something for the first time all over again lol)
I can't wait to hear more lore about your iterator, too! I read about how you couldn't use your voice synth because of the subscription, which I understand, unfortunately. Still, as somone with iterator ocs, I love learning about others!
Thank you! Hopefully I can get the voice synth once i have enough money. I've also been looking into programs that might enable me to make a synth voice that sounds like Glados from portal.
So today I learned that you can drown lizards. But I can’t be the only one who loves watching things breathe, right? Like I love that you can see stuff breathing
I know what you mean! Usually most video games have creatures/enemies/characters with preset idle animations that are often repetitive and exaggerated, but with Rain world you can actually see the Slugcat breathe faster when the player inputs a lot of movement directions rapidly.
I recall a while back in the rain world discord server that someone actually tested how long each creature in rain world could hold their breath before drowning. It was very interesting.
I so desperately want to edit an “AUUGH” whenever lizards open their mouths in anticipation-
I love these videos, seeing how they interact with eachother and learning how agressive they are
There's a lot of lizards like this irl. Take the common bearded dragon for example. They do not fuck with groups, or even pairs. So keep em separated.
Damn, Nasty-Nervous really went in for the kill there
It didn’t even have a particularly high aggression stat, but super high nervous stat. I think it were so paranoid that it decided to kill everyone before they killed it first.
@@BatFlightThylacine"IT'S NOT PARANOIA IF THEY **ARE** OUT TO GET ME" - Nasty-Nervous
6:10 damn...
The way the blue champ drops nasty-nervous from the ceiling, just to then slam back onto nasty-nervous with their teeth full force was like some kinda mortal combat fatality finisher. Brutal...
this might be the best rain world video i have seen yet
This rlly be what overseers be doing in their free time
I love rain world
I once thought that the arena was the best game mode to watch Lizard Rivalry. Well what happened? Well… The Lizards attempted to kill one another.
It's like watching a documentary. If only the GLaDOS voice was in all the videos 😆
I've found an aggressive ID you should test
It's 9922
Rain World is a really cool and fantastic game but i hope it doesnt get mainstream popularity
Luckily, Rain World has a natural defence to flush out any mainstream popularity it may potentially get: Game jank and brutality
Gatekeeping is insane
I remember when Markiplier played Rain world once. He barely got through the starting area. Never touched it since.

Yep! It’s funny how well the blue lizards movements synced with the music!
This is so cool! What if you did Cyans?

Haven’t even watched the video yet but-
There’s you, the dirt, the worms _inside_ of the dirt, Popo’s stool (poop), *and Popo*

Really? I hardly notice it, and it certainly doesn't bother my oversensitive brain that nopes at the slightest suggestion of gore. But to each their own. Maybe because my avoidance is purely visual.

Thank you for seemingly being so upset about a no that you bothered to comment
I want to but I currently don’t have enough spending money to pay for the subscription the service is asking. On Eleven Labs they allow you 2,000 words to generate the voice lines off of, and after you run out you have like a 20 day cooldown.
It’s really weird. But I can’t find any other decent voice generators that don’t demand you pay a subscription up front.
