I am 71 years old and discovered the joy of dance and Nia 3 months ago. It's maybe a sign of the times, but for me, it's like I just got released from 70 years of lockdown. What a joy, even though this old man's joints cant do what my spirit wants my body to do its is a true release and joy. Now I dance everyday, ast home, at Nia sessions, in the garden. Whenever the spirit takes me and wherever it takes me.
I agree -- I always feel better after doing the 5 stages.During my White Belt training, we did the 5 stages and it eliminated some soreness that I was experiencing, especially in my hips. Who knew!
Thank you so much for creating this video, Debbie. I think it is a really helpful compliment to the movement-visuals Nia 5 Stages video released earlier.
Although brilliant....she was very mean to me when I went to her studio .... I drove all the way from california.......I spent a lot of money to get there. She isolated me and made me feel uncomfortable and several times was confrontational....I personally dont like her....but she's brilliant when it comes to this form of exercise....I was never able to utilize my experience into teaching ....but to this day I have the highest respect and love for NIA!
Respect to your sharing🙏 But I have some questions. It's important to know why was she confrontational. Why did she act the way she did? I see connection of yoga with this. This dance form has yogic postures and I think it's integrated with breathing practice. So if you do yoga as a dance it would look like Nia. Just my view after watching some videos. I will like to try it out and experience it - in Australia 🙏😊

What if you can’t go barefoot? What if arches are collapsed?
