I remember Mark Goodman's Rollingstone interview where David Bowie clearly calls out MTV for exclusion and where Mark Goodman seem defend their status quo.
@James A not yours tho ... give me the Nobel variety!
I want my MTV, back. You know, back when the M stood for Music and they actually played music videos.
I recorded music videos with my stereo VHS during the night and the day after I copied my favorite tracks on a music cassette. At night MTV played music videos complete, so you got the whole track without cut off beginnings and endings. :)
Great Times I Miss
MTV !
Mark Goodman Played a lot of
Brilliant Masterpiece Videos
From The Pioneers DEVO !
VHS was great way back then..They beat out Beta .
mark has such a relaxing voice
I like the time Bowie made him look racist
Yeah, Mark didn't have much of a defense to Bowie's comments.
If I could be an MTV VJ in the 80s, I'd work any time, for as many hours as they wanted.
Talk about a dream job.
I grew up with you guys in way you feel like family , miss u J J
Watching those first 4 hours for the first time. There were hiccups, but you were pioneers. By the time I tuned in in 83 or 84, you guys had it down. I skipped a lot of High School to watch you guys all day. Paying for it now, maybe, but I knew very little about music before MTV. Because of you I could feel the loss of losing some of these greats in the last few years.
Mark was too cool for school. I know someone who went to camp with him and he said almost nothing and just seemed very conceited.
Idk exactly when you posted this but 2016 was a bad year for 80s icons.
Prince, Bowie, George Michael etc.
Bad year if you love 80s legends.
I love 80's on 8 on Sirius XM.
Me too bro. I listen to that station all the time in my car.
I wish it showed at least a still frame or a pic from back then. What memories! I lived on Mtv!
Same! Though I was ten in 1987 and started then when Michael Jackson's, "Bad", came out! 😁
Haha remember when David Bowie called you and MTV out
What a bisch he is
Great old days! MTV was Music Television as it was intended to be!
You sir are indeed a pioneer and for that my teenage self as well as my 50 year old self says.... "thank you".
Groundbreaking is an understatement, just think, before this there was no way to see your favorite bands except for Don Kirshner's Rock Concert on TV once a week......
Wasn't that also in the bleak of the night? Like midnight or the hour before stations went off air if they did around then? I don't know what the details were then.
This was the man that tried to justify not playing black artist
Mark Goodman looks even better now. What fountain of youth are he and Martha Quinn drinking from?
coffycup75 Honestly, I think Martha looks better (and younger) than Mark, but that's probably because I'm a guy
@@bullmonty764 that's because she is younger than Mark by 7 years. That said, close up Martha looks her age ...59
Look at Mark Goodman You look so handsome and haven't aged much!
"This is Mark Goodman.... 93.3 WMMR ROCKS Phil...la..... delphia!!!
Too bad they stopped playing videos.
I use to envy JJ Jackson/ Mark Goodman/ Martha Quinn/ and the other VJ’s for having the best jobs in the world at the time getting paid to play music videos interview and hang out with famous artist becoming famous yourself best job in the world at the time lucky people
It would be such a novel idea to create a new channel that actually showcased music videos. That would be so original. hahaha
UA-cam killed MTV. :) You have all music videos on demand here.
+TheTuubster No, rap, game shows and reality TV killed MTV. Part of what was great about MTV was the VJ commentary, the concerts, and being exposed to acts you wouldn't have sought out.
#the tuubster>>>> yeah sure, if you wanna look at a 20 inch computer screen! ; lol!
UA-cam is fine, but it lacks the human factor that channels like MTV had back in the day..
Gabriel Sheppard not too mention a tiny monitor instead of a nice big tv screen!
so the one idiot that voted this down forgot when mtv started, the played music? GOOD music!
i came her from the david bowie interview. not cool. not cool at all.
when your haircut is 4 decades younger than you are. He looks like Epstein
Mark Goodman On Fab Fourum tonight !! #beatlesforever
Those were the days!!!!😎
Yes racist days them good old racist time must be nice being racist 🙄
Racist
The grand wizard of MTV kkk
