On steam people are moaning about this game just because they haven't leveled up enough to see it true potential. Also, people are raging because of the graphics in this game, sure they're not up to par with most games out there, but the simple graphics just give it a sort of charm. Also I just want to add, this game totally shut down my computer for some reason.
This honestly grew on me the more and more I watched it and learned more about it. Peter is a great mind, sometimes too ambitious for himself but a really great, well presented person who I loved to see explain and unveil new games
Absolutely horrible game. Nothing more than clicking flags and balls. Peter may hype it up as much as he can, but it's nothing more than a F2P mobile game
I love watching Adam walk into the meeting skeptically and just slowly become a fan of it. I found it great how at first you can just see him thinking "Wow. another god game..." then later in the interview he is eating out of Molynuexs hands.
Doesn't matter, he didn't say mention if players have that option or not. He also talks about how you can play your homeworld on a tablet, mac, or PC at the same time, which sounds like cloud or server storage.
Look, I haven't played it but I'v played black and white and that game blew me away. I haven't played a game like it since. Peter is a serious designer. One of the best ever and he's been at this game for years.
He also said that when you start, your given a plot of land. My guess is that your given a plot of land on this Jupiter sized planet, that is safe from others, and outside of that plot is something like no mans land. So maybe that your homeworld isn't necessarily safe, but your first starting area (which may be huge) is.
Two things: 1. Hopefully there will be some way to check a "map" of some sorts and see your entire civilization, as if I was playing after a while it would be very easy to get lost after awhile. 2. This game could really use a camera rotation system similar to more recent total wars.
At first I was indifferent about Godus, but after exposure to many videos and interviews, I am absolutely giddy to play it. I originally thought the whole concept of it was too bizarre, but it often takes the seemingly ridiculous and daring to reinvent the name of the game and cause a paradigm shift as to what we think a god game (or anything for that matter) should be. I have also grown to love the simplicity of the game, while it still retains supposed rich gameplay and opportunities to grow.
Yeah definitely, but I'm talking more about things like the HUG and interface. They looks more like stand-ins for the moments. I actually really dig the land layering look.
I'm the guy who won curiosity. Till this moment I was not allowed to expose anything about the "contract" I signed with the designers of the game. They promised me a share in the profits of Godus, however, the only thing I got was the possibility to have unlimited credit on Godus. I actually cannot do anything about the development of the game I didn't get any amount of money. They changed address and I have lost any contact with them.
He has so many great ideas but he was never able to realize all of them. I wish him the best and I hope that all of his ideas for this game are going to be in the game and working like he intended.
Their solution is to use a request system when two players interact. The result has to be a unanimous decision otherwise the two plays will remain separate. Either you chose to be hostile, friendly or have no interaction at all (I'm sure there are other outcomes too). Problem solved?
Had no idea until after I saw it on steam, that Peter was involved with it. I was thinking how similar it was to black & white. I think it's growing on me already...I know some people don't like Peter, but I find his god games inspirational.
Reminds me of Reprisal (free on Desura, and coming to Steam soon). Which I found to be a more polished (and interesting) version of Populous. Looking forward to seeing more of this, and am considering a purchase.
What's great about PM is that he gives wonderful insight to what the concept creating phase of game development is like. What sucks about PM is that people know nothing about game creation and ends up believing that all his ideas will make it inn to the game exactly as they are described, regardless of how impossible they would be to execute upon.
Even though I don't like all his games, Molyneux is a great inspiration to me. He's had a big part in making my favorite games like Black and White and Dungeon Keeper 2. He is one of my biggest inspirations to my pursuit to get into the game industry. Even though I don't want to get hyped for Godus, I fall myself falling under the Molyneux spell. I look forward to playing!
molyneux is seems to come up with more plausible project this time then before e.x fable games at least,im looking forward to see how good godus would be,this interview gotten my hopes up
I think Godus will be more like taking care of a bonsai that an exciting game. Players can just occasionally sculpt and dig around for as long as they like and see the improvements they make with a long term goal in mind.
I have been waiting forever for a game where I have a plot of land and then explore and find other players. I've had that idea for years, but I just don't have the skills to make such a game. Molyneux is the best candidate for this experience.
Man, I wish I was about 10 to 15 years younger. This game would've been right up my alley when I was a kid. I, sadly, don't think I would have enough time to commit to this now though. It's still cool to see gaming dreams that I had as a kid become reality, though.
15:17 and I was sold.. Even got 2 of my friend to buy it simply by explaining how awesome this game is. Can't wait to play it! If it's not an amazing game now: It's in alpha.. this WILL be amazing!
In minecraft (on java 64bit) you can go for almost 10 000 light year (it is 9 223 372 036 854 775 807m)in one direction. But after 30 000 km the world is not physical any more.
Even though I don't really like most of his games, I love listening to Molyneux talk. That said this interview was so full of the hyperbole he is infamous for. But even if none of that turns out to be true, hopefully him being indie now will allow him to actually create something which is genuinely inspired again. This game certainly looks pretty imaginative.
The curiosity reward turned out to be a promo for Godus - I can't say I'm surprised, but at least the reward the person got was pretty cool. I was expecting like some kind of conceptual art thing that only that person would see.
It's a spotlight about him and his game, of course he's going to talk highly about it. It's also a culmination of everything he's learned over the years of designing games, and he expresses his insights with an expression of experience and understanding. What irks me are the "press button, get awesome" people who somehow get any screen time at all.
Hmmm something I don't understand, PM says that your homeworld will be on this "Jupiter" along with every other player. Arguably the most important part of the game is interacting with other players, yet the Steam page claims your homeworld is completely safe from other players. So which is it? Is my homeworld in danger of being conquered or coerced? Or do I have my own safe world and then a separate one on "Jupiter" that is multiplayer?
was already playing this as test didn't even knew the peter was the one who made it thats why i felt hey ...i know this from somewhere....this game will be awsome once its finished it already feels cool, keep up the good work!!
He is an interesting fellow, but definitely deserving of the controversy that revolves around him, but he is truly a visionary. Personally I don't like to have expectations for his games, but I love to hear his pitches. Hopefully they can be close to as good as he hypes them up to be
It definitely seems like that is going to be the definitive art style. It looks great, and definitely seems like it will both age well and perform on low end computers well (hell, he's running it on a mac in the video.) If you were looking for a different art style, you will not see it here. But it will definitely look better than if they went for a more realistic style.
He's a legendary developer, to be sure. The problem, and I believe he's admitted to this before, is that he tends to get a little too fired up and passionate when he's describing his projects to others and often makes pretty elaborate claims. The technology should be there now for a game like Godus, and there are technically thousands of beta testers that can give the critique it needs before release. Still, it's always a good idea to keep expectations in check.
Actually, as a style, i think the game is looking excellent right now. They might touch on textures but ultimately I don't think the look of this game will change significantly.
You don't, the game is a time sink where all you have to do is get one resource, sculpt land and collect cards. If you chose to battle and you loose you will loose some of your cards, if you don't battle some cards will be off limits to you. So the likelyhood is most people will resort to buying cards in the micro transaction menu (upper right) that he doesn't talk about AT ALL in this video, he purposely avoids mentioning it.
Let me be frank about this Dungeon Keeper 2 is already out and he can not make another Dungeon Keeper or Black and White unless he dose a name change and anything else that may infringe upon copyright.
Ah, well i get your point because I don't normally like multiplayer, and the threat from other gods seems constantly stressful, but this seems different. Its not like COD or something where it'll be a bunch of kids who just go on it 24/7, youll find casuals and skilled players. And i think if there's demand enough they'll include a single player
I'm confused as to what you are saying. The chief God gets real world money based off the sales of the game during their time as chief god, when their title is passed they don't have to give that money back, the next person just gets paid by the royalties during their time.
The way you formulated that the same thing is true about any game designer lol. Overall in the godgame genre his originals are seen as better as their sequels after he left. I played the alpha of Godus and it shows definite promise. could go either way though since it's hardly finished right now. But if I'd like anyone to try and make a new god game it would be him. Imho he doesn't actually promise much at all, he just gets very passionate and excited and people get swept up by that.
I backed this game very early. It had a ton of potential at one point and watching it die was interesting.
2023 now. This game could have been so much more than it is. If only the devs actually updated it
Hearing Peter talk about this...this game could've been so good...
Peter always overpromised and underdelivered
Well... That went well.
Adam: "Always a pleasure."
Peter: "Not at all."
lol
"The trees will grow", where have I heard this before, Peter?
Nobody can overhype something quite like Mr Molyneux
Oh I'm so so glad to see him be just as magical as he always is. His love of game experiences is unmatched. Keep making games, you lovely man.
Well I played it and so far most of the ages haven't even been implemented yet. So I don't see how leveling up would change the game.
Potato Jones Well it is in beta, but if they didn't add them then i will be very disappointed.
Simon Liu Why? What is it like?
Peter Molyneux is such a great interviewee. His excitement for his projects makes it really fun to see what he has to say about them.
Everyone's opinions aside, Molyneux is definitely a true genius and founder of a great genre, a true genius in the modern gaming industry!
6 Years Later and still in Early Access lol
I love watching Adam walk into the meeting skeptically and just slowly become a fan of it. I found it great how at first you can just see him thinking "Wow. another god game..." then later in the interview he is eating out of Molynuexs hands.
this game is shit on so many levels, that is all
G
***** you're*
You're welcome
God, I seriously love the way this man talks about video games. So much passion behind every little thing.
Adam Sessler is acting like he`s on coke......check him out!
Doesn't matter, he didn't say mention if players have that option or not. He also talks about how you can play your homeworld on a tablet, mac, or PC at the same time, which sounds like cloud or server storage.
Adam Sessler is awesome.
Look, I haven't played it but I'v played black and white and that game blew me away. I haven't played a game like it since. Peter is a serious designer. One of the best ever and he's been at this game for years.

Love how Peter gradually reveals new mechanics in this demo, really engaging way to present the game and totally reflects the nature of the gameplay.
I don't know exactly why but I could watch Peter Molyneux for hours.
He seems like such a nice and upbeat person.
I've been waiting for a game like this for so long...I sure hope it's a success
Two things:
1. Hopefully there will be some way to check a "map" of some sorts and see your entire civilization, as if I was playing after a while it would be very easy to get lost after awhile.
2. This game could really use a camera rotation system similar to more recent total wars.
The ideas in this are characteristically fascinating. I really hope this turns out well, it has so much potential.
Excellent interview, as always.
3:20-3:30. Look how Adam is so visibly pleased to be sitting with this excellent developer.
38:34 adam says "always a pleasure" peter says "not at all"
Man I loved Populous Godus is looking good so far. Thanks for this interview.
Molyneux's games? I'm not head over heels for. His enthusiasm and grand ideas? I can appreciate.
Yeah definitely, but I'm talking more about things like the HUG and interface. They looks more like stand-ins for the moments. I actually really dig the land layering look.
Great video, I love the personalities of these two!
I can't wait for all of these promises to definitely come true.
I can't wait for this game...I hope it lives up to what I just heard and saw
I never thought I'd be excited for a Molyneaux game again. Godus looks extremely promising.
The last feature that was mentioned... mind blowing.
Had no idea until after I saw it on steam, that Peter was involved with it. I was thinking how similar it was to black & white. I think it's growing on me already...I know some people don't like Peter, but I find his god games inspirational.
The connectivity of all the systems in GODUS is impressive.
Interesting concept. I guess i'll give it a try.
"space age" wow, i had no idea that they would take it that far... i don't know how much i like that
Thank you so much, it's going to be wonderful.
Reminds me of Reprisal (free on Desura, and coming to Steam soon). Which I found to be a more polished (and interesting) version of Populous. Looking forward to seeing more of this, and am considering a purchase.

Great Video. This might be the start of new age of gaming
The terraforming is pretty amazing... The lack of it in Sim City was immensely disappointing, so I look forward to seeing more Godus
I look forward to playing!
bob: what is your job?
brian: i'm just the gods of gods
molyneux is seems to come up with more plausible project this time then before e.x fable games at least,im looking forward to see how good godus would be,this interview gotten my hopes up
I think Godus will be more like taking care of a bonsai that an exciting game. Players can just occasionally sculpt and dig around for as long as they like and see the improvements they make with a long term goal in mind.
I really can't wait. The market has really been lacking games like this so I'm glad the originator is coming back to it.
He may not be the most truthful person, but you have to admire his ambition.
I have been waiting forever for a game where I have a plot of land and then explore and find other players. I've had that idea for years, but I just don't have the skills to make such a game. Molyneux is the best candidate for this experience.
I've always thought he puts spirit into his games, but being a god really makes that literal.
Peter and Sess in the same room! my heroes have united!
This is really cool. Can't wait to play. So many cool ideas.
Man, I wish I was about 10 to 15 years younger. This game would've been right up my alley when I was a kid. I, sadly, don't think I would have enough time to commit to this now though. It's still cool to see gaming dreams that I had as a kid become reality, though.
I was skeptical at the beginning of this video but man that looks fantastic
15:17 and I was sold.. Even got 2 of my friend to buy it simply by explaining how awesome this game is. Can't wait to play it!
If it's not an amazing game now: It's in alpha.. this WILL be amazing!
38:34
Adam: Always a pleasure.
Peter: Not at all.
XD
If you haven't already, You should try black and white as you wait..in my opinion one of the best games ever, also super ambitious for its time
Wow this game is turning out better than I thought, I hope it does well.
In minecraft (on java 64bit) you can go for almost 10 000 light year (it is 9 223 372 036 854 775 807m)in one direction. But after 30 000 km the world is not physical any more.
i miss adam.

Watching this I had such a big grin on my face - this sounds amazing!
Really don't mind the graphics as long as the completed game is as good as it sounds.
The curiosity reward turned out to be a promo for Godus - I can't say I'm surprised, but at least the reward the person got was pretty cool.
I was expecting like some kind of conceptual art thing that only that person would see.
All they needed was Totalbiscuit in this interview and it would have been the ultimate trifecta
I absolutely love this artstyle!
It's a spotlight about him and his game, of course he's going to talk highly about it. It's also a culmination of everything he's learned over the years of designing games, and he expresses his insights with an expression of experience and understanding.
What irks me are the "press button, get awesome" people who somehow get any screen time at all.
It will be nice if these ideas can really be realized in a game. It seems like a great idea, and I guess we'll just have to wait to see.
check the forum there was some server problems, its working now, for me at least (it is a beta!)
I've tried throwing money at my screen for about 30 minutes now, but I guess I'll have to wait until the 13th of Sept.
Looks excellent. I think it will become a very strong, polished experience.
Hmmm something I don't understand, PM says that your homeworld will be on this "Jupiter" along with every other player. Arguably the most important part of the game is interacting with other players, yet the Steam page claims your homeworld is completely safe from other players.

Two of my favorite people in gaming having a nice discussion. Them feels...
was already playing this as test didn't even knew the peter was the one who made it
thats why i felt hey ...i know this from somewhere....this game will be awsome once its finished it already feels cool, keep up the good work!!

I LOVE how this looks, and I can't wait for it.
seems amazing. i wish i had the patience for these kinda games

You haven't seen the 2005 E3 trailer for Spore, have you?
Love the artstyle and the Wilhelm scream when ppl die.
Let me be frank about this Dungeon Keeper 2 is already out and he can not make another Dungeon Keeper or Black and White unless he dose a name change and anything else that may infringe upon copyright.
Wow looks really cool. I'm not even sure if I fully understand, but looks like a lot if fun to play when you fully get it
Ah, well i get your point because I don't normally like multiplayer, and the threat from other gods seems constantly stressful, but this seems different. I'm pretty sure the laptop was being projected on to a wall which Adam was looking at for most of it
That's sort of what Peter Molyneaux is known for. That said he does have some creative ideas.
I can almost see Adam thinking, "We've been down this road before."
I'm confused as to what you are saying. The chief God gets real world money based off the sales of the game during their time as chief god, when their title is passed they don't have to give that money back, the next person just gets paid by the royalties during their time.
Molyneux has such a soothing voice. Godus looks like it could be pretty neat.
The way you formulated that the same thing is true about any game designer lol. Overall in the godgame genre his originals are seen as better as their sequels after he left.
