- The Tecsun PL-380 AM FM LW Shortwave Portable Radio is reintroduced to the Channel during this Evening AM Band Scan of the Chicago Land Area. The Terk Advantage Passive Loop is employed when needed. The big pluses for this radio are the premium feel buttons, large LCD display, Compact Size, and the use of normal AA batteries. Having tons of presets, and AM Bandwidth control will keep you busy for many years to come. It was a tough night, but the PL-380 was able to pull in some faint signals with some patience.

Overall, the radio does fantastic during the day on the AM Broadcast Band. The Terk Advantage Passive loop continues to help pull in those distant stations. There is a ton of competition at this price point, and I believe the PL-380 still has what it takes to Stand Out as a Possible Choice for the Consumer.

Hi Todderbert, so you've taken the old Tecsun PL-380 for a spin? Nice! Yes, the old Tecsun PL-380 is still a very nice radio. I'll watch your video later. I'm currently on the Amazon US website checking out some new radios to buy. I found a very interesting radio that reminds me of the Panasonic RF-2400D. The radio that looks like the Panasonic RF-2400D is the Gelielim RX-BT169S, but it has two shortwave bands. It looks very interesting. Take care and have a nice evening.

Todderbert I am glad that MW decline was only at my QTH office Tucson. Arizona. The Tecsun 380 is nice but I would want to have SSB decode too , so the Tecsun PL-330 is for me.

900 CHML Hamilton, Ontario closed down last week after almost 100 years on air. Was one of Canada’s oldest station. Sad.

Hey Todderbert, unfortunately WCBS 880 Radio in New York is no more😢😅. Listened to CBS in my car and at home for decades. Now it’s a sports station run by ESPN. Really sad. Now we only have 1010 WINS in the tri-state area fir news weather and traffic. Enjoy the day.

Yes, a very sad day for local listeners, nighttime DXers and AM radio as a whole. My thoughts, screw Audacy. Another huge loss for AM radio.

It was WCBS out of NYC.

Thanks for MW scan. Mostly today though, I'm sad and angry what Audacy did to long time great AM station Newsradio 880. I will be deleting it as a preset for nighttime DX listening. SMH Looks like WBZ will take its place for me. And thankfully Zoomer still out there.

Now called WHSQ. Really unfortunate actually.
TVRadio1972 recorded the final moments of WCBS, and the new station ID switch. Not a fan of more sports stations.
@@todderbert I listened to it on RandomRadioJottings. A very sad day for AM radio. No doubt money a main factor for the suits at Audacy. 😠
