Every time I see someone online react to the switch in tone from Jak and Daxter to Jak II it’s a really treat. Penny’s is probably the best reaction yet
@@ComedicPause I'm referring to the guy/cop or whatever in game that yelled from off-screen as he, not Penny, sorry for the confusion. Penny is she/her.
@@xXAlexOrWhateverXx Especially when you consider these two have apart for literal years. In spite of his attitude and new silly voice, and two years of torture, that's still Jak.
I actually really like how the vehicles handle in this (and 3). There's a real sense of momentum and acceleration, and there's little tricks you can do, and a skill ceiling.
@@TheOblivionKiller124 I like that too. My favorite car was always that unlockable one with absolutely no grip, and the huge jump. You can just tap the stick and go into a drift, then tap it again to pop out.

at 2:01:00 I had a flashback to being a little kid who struggle with this chase to the point of having one of my first rage moments, truly a pain to deal with that camera in that scene
god I can't WAIT for this one! Especially Daxter is such a glow up from the first game, he's legitimately so funny and his interactions with Jak are So Good!!! very excited to see the reaction to Some Parts :3c
When I first played this game last year, I nearly quit playing it a few hours in because I missed vibes of the first game so much. After I started my second play session, I got the second gun (most people’s favorite) and ended up liking the gameplay a lot more. This IS still my least favorite of the trilogy, but I still hope you enjoy it. It definitely gets better as it goes.
@@bellespawnlol I think I remember a good number of them, but I question how much is because they're legitimately great or because of sheer repetition due to the check points
It's interesting, because I had kind of the opposite reaction. My first videogame in the series (and ever) was jak 3, but despite that II is now my favorite because of its greater challenge and more focused gameplay.
Hey I liked unleashed. Amazing cinematics and music and levels. Also the werehog levels were my fav and still are. Atmosphere was dark, and beautiful and talking to the npcs was nice too to hear stories and Lore of the night and how the world was going with the events. I just wished my disc wasn't bugged or I'd have replayed it in an instant
1:29:35 I had a really big Jak 2 hyperfixation as a kid and would go onto UA-cam and watch all of the dark Jak AMVs there was at least 3 different monster ones and several Linkin Park AMVs and my edgy 10 year old self ate that shit up thank you for unlocking these memories. There were way more of them back in like 2013 but some probably got taken down lmao
I'm just thinking about how much of a missed opportunity it was that DAXTER spent two years surviving alone in this world after Jak was captured, he had enough time to maybe form some connections and maybe owe some favors to people for helping him breaking Jak out, I want him to have friends and uneasy alliances bruh, he can be a goofy comic relief and still need to make sketchy deals to get information
There's a really fucking good fanfic that deep dives into Daxter's life throughout the missing two years (even more than Daxter the game does) that really scratched that itch for me. It's called A Beginner's Guide to Extermination & Espionage by CaveDwellers. Highly highly highly recommend. It is pretty long though, so keep that in mind before diving in
I'm of the opinion that this was meant to appeal to 13 year Olds, similar to how Mega Man X was a Edgier take on Mega Man. Also, good God, I was stuck there for a entire day with that tank
Sonic three will have Amy and cream and rouge. Sonic 4 will be big the cat trying to catch froggy for 90 minutes. Sonic 5 will mash the video games universe with sonic underground
My first email I created has the word dark at the start because I loved Jak 2 and thought dark Jak was so cool when I was young, still love this game to death to this very day so I'm not that annoyed by it.
Wait what the heck did the Industrial Revolution happen in-between games? We went from little villages with a bit of technology and now the opening screen is a giant city with neon lights and skyscrapers? I'm not complaining but what the heck happened lol
29:10 penny the prophet lol watching this in 2024 mere days after sonic 3 trailer dropped with shadow holding a gun and eggman pissing on the moon. Times are bad but sometimes its allright
feel so validated that penny also enjoys just turning on northernlion videos his stuff is so chill, funny, and relatable like the time he talked about how he eats sandwiches over his sink "like a rat", as he said
Maybe I should’ve watched the first game first lol. I grew up with The second and third Jak and Daxter games, so I have no idea how different the first one is.
I am actually a little disappointed we didn't get to see any of Daxter's two year long journey to find and rescue Jax, but I can understand that this was probably better from a game development standpoint. I wonder if that's what the single Daxter game is about actually
Sorta, Daxter takes place in the last handful of months in the 2-year timeskip (where his search for Jak *finally* makes headway), and ends (with a post-game cutscene) after Jak II's events. It's definitely something to check out *after* Jak II just for spoilers sake.
"He's not supposed to sound like that, he's supposed to sound like he plays Magic the Gathering, you know?" Boy's been tortured for two straight years, let him have a little angst, as a treat

I’m glad that the dynamic between Jack and daxter stays the same after two years of trauma.

I will say, in Jak 3, driving in the desert is a pain, just because of how much you slid around. But driving in other areas is fine.
