She also wrote the first book on homosexuality back then. She also was a practicing astrologer.
What the hell? She did? I didn't know that. Ok now my respect for her has grown million fold.
Astrology?😱 Hmm..that makes me think that astrology is a legit discipline and not just dhongi babas trying to make money out of innocent people
@@swatisaini6447 Actually her kind of Astrology was not about Palm reading or suggesting stones. She used to practise the Vedic Calculative Astrology also known as Numerology.
@@swatisaini6447 yes astrology is a legit practice and it gives accurate results but you need someone who has full accurate knowledge of that subject to predict anything ,and those people are very rare , most of the "astrologers" either have no knowledge of the subject or they only know few things , which isn't enough to predict anything. My grandmother can actually do that , but even she can't predict everything but yes she can tell you few things about your future based on your kundli , when my father wasn't married , my grandfather choosed a girl for him , but upon seeing her kundli my grandmother rejected the marriage , she said that her kundli has a "dosh/ defect" which will lead to the death of her husband within a year of her marriage , so they rejected her , and my grandmother's prediction did came true , the guy who married her eventually died within one year of her marriage .
Astrology is a different kind of science and study. Its the fake people who have polluted the practice for their benifit. So people often think of it as a pseudoscience. Its not just seeing the palm and telling future.
Why can't we have dignified TV shows like this anymore
Agree. All we have now are trashy TV shows such as Love Island and Big Brother.
My brothers childhood friend that's his uncle Shan who ran the program with his wife...was a very good show.
I can only imagine one if the aaj Tak reporter hosting this event. Gaur see dekhiyeee....... Bullshit
Simple Answer :TV Media lost its dignity as days went on ...see now where it is
so so true how well were the shows of those times organized and setup
I spent most of my school days doing puzzles from her books and learning some of the tricks of her trade. She was a genius in the highest form. Though one thing, i wouldn't compare her to ramanujan as he was gifted well beyond any one's comprehension. He solved equations that biggest math brains were struggling to understand for generations.

@Richa Verma While it's true whatever you said, it's time to reflect on the present. Our ancestors were great - that's true. But if we do nothing and sit around just taking pride in what they did - our descendants won't say they same about us. Let's make sure we can keep the legacy going. At this point of time, the western world has overtaken us. No point denying that. If we really want Indians back on the map, we need to show achievements NOW.
Just an analogy - West Indies cricket team was the most feared back in the 70s, but now look at them. Their older generation players were flawless, sure.. But they're judged by their current performance today.
India is a land of so many prodigies but unfortunately Indians and government don't recognize those talents,,,otherwise there would have been so many Einstein and Nikola Tesla coming out of India
I think White supremacy is more to blame for that. Shakuntala Devi should have been world famous, but they didn’t care because she was Indian.

Father of American literature Great Mark Twain about India
"India is the cradle for human race, birthplace of human speech, mother of history, grandmother of legend and great grandmother of tradition".
India can answer any question because india is pioneer of arts, martial arts, science, maths, astrology and spiritual science.
And yet it can't shake off social evils like caste system, dowry deaths, honor killings, rapes, farmer suicides, hunger deaths, abject poverty, color discrimination, open defecation (40% of the population), awful healthcare infrastructure for most of the population......otherwise India is the mother and grandmother of everything!
This has always been the land of the SEEKER.
@Hacker One India seems to be far behind in rape cases only because more than 95% of rape and sexual assault cases in India go unreported. The reported cases in india itself are astounding in number so imagine the reality. I as an Indian woman who had lived in three different countries one of them being India itself does not need to "imagine" it myself because i've lived through it and my everyday life speaks for itself and i assure you india is undoubtedly one of the worst and most dangerous countries in the world for women. So stop trying to be a deshbhakt where it's not needed. Every woman in India knows that it's a fucked up place to live in for us and every one of us women live a life of horror here and that's the truth.

This was the best reaction video ever. I love Rick and Korbin's faces wen the video ends. They are both speechless!!
Even after she is long gone, her books are still a mystery for even adults forget about the kids !
what she was doing is a vedic math tricks which is ancient mathematics technique which is also a part of curriculum in some of the schools but she is too fast in it and talented and gifted
How are you so sure she’s using Vedic Math? Even that’d take some time. She’s gifted is what she is.
I know some Vedic maths but it still takes time
Very true this is how vedic maths work although her speed has no match undoubtedly... and a student of vedic maths is definitely faster in math problem solving than a brilliant regular math student (vedic maths techniques are very different than the regular ones) ..she said about her grandfather being preist n knowing astrology too.
She never went to school
This fondly reminds me of my school days in 1990s where almost every alternate kid went out and bought her book on mathemagic, this brings back so much of memories, nostalgic!
ramanujan was the greatest mathematician ever born in world.Watch british film The man who knew infinity starring dev patel to know him.

He gone too soon.
He definitely was greatest of his era. But he himself admired many times that he could never reach the level of his idols, genius like Aryabhatt, Brahma gupta, Barahmihir, Bhaskara
That's just preposterous to term him the greatest mathematician. He was a great mathematician but there were many other extraordinary mathematicians too.

Nice review Rick and Korbin. By the way, the first example is not long division. It's a cube root. Hence the complexity.

How shocked can two people look, those were both your faces. Amazing to see how you guys had your eyes and mouth wide open.
She was able to do such wonders with the help of vedic mathematics which she herself confirmed once.
This is vedic math. It's great she could do it. But Sanatani yogis and rishis were able to do it back then in ancient times. When whole world used to think earth is flat, Hindu rishis/ yogis of ancient times not only telling it's round but they could precisely calculate the distance between earth and sun and do all sorts of astronomical calculations precisely.
Interesting.. please share evidence source, i would like to know about their distance calculation. Thank you

I come from a East Bengali family whom moved to Kolkata in 1930s. I would like to introduce you to my lovely city and cinematic history it has nested through decades of great artistry. Three films that I would recommend are below. The reason I haven't mentioned masterpiece Pather Panchali and Meghe Dakha Tara in the list because either you've seen them or has been exposed with trailer.
1. 1957 Kabuliwala. This cinema has captured and mesmerized minds of thousands of people. A true classic. Based on story by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, additional writing by Premendra Mitra, a stalwart Bengali writer and directed by legendary Tapan Sinha.
2. Subarnarekha released 1965 by legendary Ritwick Ghatak.
3. 1973 film Padatik by another legendary Mrinal Sen.
Wish Korbin's little one and Rick's children much love and fondness.
