This man lived through two world wars, suffered terrible racism, and look how he came through it all with wonder and loving humanity. What a great human!!! We need to take heed.
He grew up in racist society sure but he slipped thru cracks and gotta realize there was 2 America's when he grew up , the south and the North, it was not until Spanish American War right before Pops was born that usa started to reunite as one and it took 70 years then to change the world but they did. This stuff doesn't happen overnight and takes timesl
Louis Armstrong is arguably one of the most influential musicians off all time, most music has some Jazz influence and Louis Armstrong is the king of Jazz, he was also one of the first big solo artists and led the way in so many areas his influence and genius can't be understated
It's very sad that this man went through a war zone all his life (race riots, segregation, racism in general) and can still show a big smile, even when deep inside he has suffered ALOT. RIP Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong was a really famous jazz singer of his day and had a rather wonderful personality with warmth and caring politeness. Therefore, he was liked by almost everyone. Clearly, the song, "What a Wonderful World," had special words that conveyed nice meaning, but it was given by an old man with vision across his entire life. At the end of the song he says, "Oh Ya;" this was his personal signature that he gave in many of his other songs, but it has exceptional meaning with this song. Louis Armstrong was made the U.S. Ambassador of Good Will.
Satchmo(also known as Louis Armstrong) is a New Orleans legend. He’s one of the first world famous musicians and the pioneer of jazz music, which was the first world wide pop music movement and it was born in New Orleans, like me.
I think of my Nana every time I hear this song. She showed this to me when I was 5 years old and my soul absorbed it. We used to sing it in the car for years.
As a Russian, if you like Louis Armstrong and jazz watch him sing Ochi Chernyie. It's one of my favorites by him, and does his band whale. It's on UA-cam as Louis Armstrong Ochi Chernyie (Dark eyes), and he is also the trumpet player. Or should I say he is the ultimate trumpet player!

This charming young lady might enjoy hearing a 9 year old girl sing this song on the UA-cam video entitled "Louis Armstrong-What A Wonderful World (Teodora) Blind Auditions The Voice Kids 2019".
the studio version is even better. this wasn't really a "jazz" song. to hear "satchmo's" best jazz pieces you need to go way back to "between the devil and the deep blue sea" (1932) and, particularly, "stardust" (1931). there's a clip from the movie "a song is born" (1948) on youtube called: "Louis Armstrong Benny Goodman Danny Kaye Laurindo de Almeida Nestor Amaral in A SONG IS BORN 2" that's an excellent introduction to some jazz greats from the 30s and 40s. check all these out. i don't think you'll be disappointed. thanks for the video.
You have a deep feeling soul like Louis, that's why. How about 'Cry me a River' by Ella Fitzgerald. There are very many great songs from the past, you're right.
This is not really jazz. It is a jazz artist singing a ballad. He is a great jazz trumpeter and does not play his instrument on this song. Listen to some of his other music or to Thelonius Monk or Pat Metheny or Charlie Parker or Bill Evans. You can tell there is a jazz pianist playing underneath him here.
Bonjour Irina, you should listen to this band: Eurythmics, The Miracle of Love official. It is not jazz, it’s pop-rock like A-ha. The fame for Eurythmics came with Sweet Dreams. I am sure it will remind your childhood too. Bon dimanche de Paris, France. Good Sunday from Paris, France.😮
this song wasn't much jazz either... Louie blew some mean dixieland and New orleans jazz - but this wasn't one of them. there is a whole spectrum of 'jazz' from charlie parker to ella to dave brubek that can be explored
The poignancy of this song is that when it was recorded, things were extremely tumultuous everywhere. Assassinations, the Cold War, Vietnam, and race riots were shaking up America like never before. And Louis Armstrong, while a very beloved figure in music, had spent many years dealing with all manner of racial discrimination, even when he was headlining concerts. So people of the time, hearing *him* say that there was beauty and hope for society carried significant heft. In America, the record label he was signed to did not care for the song because it was so unlike the upbeat dance music he was known for, and did not promote it; it was in England, where a different label released it, that it became a big success. When it was used in a 1987 film, GOOD MORNING VIETNAM, then it finally became better known in the States, charting on the BIllboard Top 40 and getting heavy radio play. The irony is that the movie took place in 1965, 2 years before the song was recorded.
There are many good Jazz musicians: Charlie Parker, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Jelly Roll Morton, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald. This isn't even close to all of them
Hoping that someone who speaks Russian would please do a reaction to the highly rated movie 'Eastern Promises' which has Viggo Mortensen star of 'Lord of the Rings' speak quite a bit of Russian as a former Russian Gangster.
If you want to hear more jazz, I recommend this Billie Holiday clip that includes some of the best jazz musicians ua-cam.com/video/Jf0ldEBBJhY/v-deo.html. hope you enjoy
This is such a lovely song , I think if anybody is having a bad day this is the song to listen to , your reaction is what most people would be like so thank you . This man was such a great singer I just wish I could have seen him live.
Louie was loved by everyone, great trumpet playing, on stage joy, and great songs, how could anyone not ? He was the nicest man you could ever meet-- Did parties for kids and shows for charity in his Queens neighborhood often, and is known as the one who started the HIgh Five "Gimmie some'a that skin!" he'd say. You can have the worst day of your life, But if ya went to see him play, You'd forget all about it and walk away feeling great was his reputation, and he stuck to it his whole 55 years in the biz!
Louis Armstrong was a great man&what a wonderful song&reaction😁🎶 Here's a good 1 from Dean Martin. It's from the movie Ocean's 11. ua-cam.com/video/KvYfsbtExoU/v-deo.html
For another positive song I thought you'd enjoy "The Rainbow Connection" famously sung by Kermit the Frog. Here's the original as sung by the group The Carpenters l.. ua-cam.com/video/PYuE2roIkH0/v-deo.html
This man lived through two world wars, suffered terrible racism, and look how he came through it all with wonder and loving humanity. What a great human!!! We need to take heed.
the guy was born poor and died a millionaire and did not hurt a single person along the way.
Should have been a billionaire. I was living in Watts by his own choice@@theselfishangryguy1946
a genius which has loved people and music.......JAZZ legend
Louis Armstrong is arguably one of the most influential musicians off all time, most music has some Jazz influence and Louis Armstrong is the king of Jazz, he was also one of the first big solo artists and led the way in so many areas his influence and genius can't be understated
Louis Armstrong is a legacy to the jazz, this unique voice, and outstanding lyrics are simply timeless.🌟
It's very sad that this man went through a war zone all his life (race riots, segregation, racism in general) and can still show a big smile, even when deep inside he has suffered ALOT. RIP Louis Armstrong
i think it touches our soul cause he sees the beauty of the world which we sometimes miss
I grew up in the 90s but my father played music from the 40s to 70s at home, every single day from afternoon until we sleep. This song was my lullaby.
Best rendition ever ,!!
This song is timeless
What a wonderful reaction! I have listened to this for decades and I feel the same things. Thank you!

I didn’t know, who’s singing and i loved it
Satchmo(also known as Louis Armstrong) is a New Orleans legend. He’s one of the first world famous musicians and the pioneer of jazz music, which was the first world wide pop music movement and it was born in New Orleans, like me.
I read that the nickname Satchmo was given to him by his Jewish foster mother. It means "fat cheeks" in Yiddish.
what a great reaction from such a young girl!!
I think of my Nana every time I hear this song. She showed this to me when I was 5 years old and my soul absorbed it. We used to sing it in the car for years.
Louis has some great duets with Ella Fitzgerald too.
Oh, this is one of my lifelong favorites. Always great, when you're feeling especially good, or especially bad.
Always been a fan of Louis Armstrong. He will always be in my top 10, in no particular order.
He was the greatest horn player in jazz history.
If this song doesn’t make you sniffle, you aren’t alive.
Love him. Amazing song and what a great voice.
Great song. Louis has a great smile and is best known for his trumpet playing.
I love jazz music ... I lived 3 years in NY and I was used to go often to jazz clubs ... Enclosed the famous Cotton Club.

This charming young lady might enjoy hearing a 9 year old girl sing this song on the UA-cam video entitled "Louis Armstrong-What A Wonderful World (Teodora) Blind Auditions The Voice Kids 2019".
The world has been less bright without him.

Come to New Orleans for the best Jazz!
One of my favorite classic songs ever recorded. It's so beautiful and calming.
That 'oh yeah' makes this Louis song forever. Nobody can sing it like he did. He passed in 1971 at the age of 69.
Guy has a great voice doesn’t he))

Please react to USA for Africa - we are the world, Irina 😊
Hi Irena. Check out Louis Armstrong performing "Hello Dolly", that would have been a better example of jazz.
Older songs? One of my favorites is by The Mills Brothers, called "Til Then", about a couple who are separated when the man must go off to war.
he did a song called summertime with Ella Fitsgerald, then you should try Janis Joplin, same song but wow janis blows me away!
Армстронг это классика. Великий голос.
If you want to check out something a little more "jazzy", check out "Spain" by Gary Valenciano (WISH version).
Thanks for this reaction. The jazz tradition in this country is so important!
I have some jazz instrumental for you to enjoy.. Spyro Gyra’s Morning Dance.. give it a go! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it..
