Hi Chandanie, thank you for sharing your videos. It helps us to see the country through your eyes since we we no longer live in Guyana, but is watching it from Norway. Guyana is developing and as a Guyanese I am very happy to see it growing. I hope for the best of it so the people don't have to leave to seek better place and call it their home. I wish it the very best with our new government (Ali) love him and hope he can be appreciated for his initiative to make our country a better place so that some of us can be happy to visit. Thank you for taking your time to make these videos and sharing it with us from afar. Good luck and be safe in the process of filming. You seem to be a lovely lady. ❤️😇🙏
Chandani - thank you for sharing the History of Leonora. Kowsila was a brave woman. There was another incident in 1939, a few women were shot during a cane-cutter strike. Several other Incidents that were kept in secret. Then the Wismar Massacre proves to be one of the country’s worst incidents of racial violence, but has been kept a secret and not often spoken of - many Indian women including young girls at the age of 6-8 was raped. I love the aerial. Thank you.
Hey Chandani nice showing how developed is Lenora West Coast is compared from years ago. Lots of new developments that grocery store has a lot of products we will get in Canada eg, Pancake mix, eggoes etc...and well stocked. Have a great year 2024.
Hi Chandani, It was a pleasure to view your video of Leonora. It certainly has changed from the Plantation Leonora where I lived as youth during the years 1946 - 1959, when I moved to Georgetown..Yes, there was a Roxy cinema that was across the Leonora train station, the train which I took daily to Georgetown to go to school. Is it possible to identify some of the old spots eg, the train station and the old post office and the managers and overseer residences? Thanks for your videos...
This is a nice video to start 2024. Congratulations on the idea to show us your home village. Thank you for your work in entertaining us with your good taste for making content. All the best.
you did a wonderful job describing Leonora, you can easily be a tour guide or a journalist ,if in the future guyana have big TV station hope you apply, take care and keep up the good work
Hello Chandani, thanks for uploading this video. I lived in Leonora from 1966 to 1980, at which time I migrated to (June 1980) Canada. Sadly I never came back to Guyana (almost 44 years now). I lived directly opposite the bridge that leads into the road for the Leonora Cottage Hospital. At that time the bridge that leads from the public road was a sunken wooden bridge with no side rails to offer protection from vehicles going off it accidently. In the mid 70's there was a bit of crime and the gang members use to hide under that bridge a few times. The police caught them though. There were no houses on the road that leads the way to the Hospital/Seawall. There was only the post office, and a white house (as we use to call it then) and right opposite the hospital was a house for a senior police staff member. The land on the western side was all vacant and used as a storage yard for the govt road works vehicles etc. It was all open area great for flying kites. A few things to point out, yes there was a cinema called Roxy, the owners also had another one call (Tarla located at Meten Meer Zorg). When the post office was built, there was a blue print problem and the building was erected backwards, thus the rear of the building faced the public road. (By the time it was noticed it was too late to change the foundation). The Fire Station was built around the same time, (give or take a year or 2). Cowdam (we called it that) was not paved, it was all mud and terrible when the rain fell. Eventually they built a narrow concrete strip on the left side of the road, while the other section remained as dirt and it was sloping real bad too. The market was held several days a week, I do not think it was 6, I believe it was Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat. I saw my old house in your drone footage lol (Lot 12 Sea Field) A few years ago I had a friend going there and I asked him for a video of my old home ua-cam.com/video/NOR5VnOaC8o/v-deo.html
Thanks for the history of Leonora my hometown❤❤. Keep up the amazing job, I always learn something from you about my beloved country! Do you know how someone from overseas can get a house lot in Leonora. I'll appreciate any feedback. TIA
Thanks for sharing - I used to have relatives/friends living in Stewartville .. nice quaint village as I remember it years ago.. btw what type of drone are you using?
I lived in Leonora, WCD in 1992. Cannot believe the change! And I ent to the cinema regularly (we were lucky to have electricity every other night and the cinema had a generator. And potato balls!)
Went here as a child when there was almost nothing here. What indentured Africans were there. I am glad Kowsila gave up her life for the country. What did the President do in Leonora before he went to Canada?

Incredible.
Mr TAZ has a super market there too ❤
Nice brief history of Lenora. Good tour. Did you say that the halal restaurant doesn’t sell beef?
Yes, no beef
@@crlifethings That is not a real halal restaurant, lol
Haha...😆😆
Coconut chips is a very rich snack, but for some reason a lot of the supermarkets don’t sell it.
Coconut chips? ...as in actual coconut flakes?
Went here as a child when there was almost nothing here. What indentured Africans were there. I am glad Kowsila gave up her life for the country. What did the President do in Leonora before he went to Canada?
Hi there, I am curious about your background. Did you live abroad and then went back to Guyana?
Is there abundant fresh water?
Yes
Jamaican patties?
I hope this supermarket has a reasonable amount of Guyanese products.
Yes, Mr. Boucher, it certainly does
i got to see my parents house in the first 2 mins 😀
What's the population of Leonora Chandani?
In the year 2012, the census stated around 1,600, but I'm pretty sure its alittle more than that now.
Why can't the road be wider 😮
well you fix it at your own expense. instead of talking
Them chinee own all de shop. She nah show the new mall.
