So many times when a media outlet tries to discuss a topic I know something about, they get some major details wrong and it makes me question all their work. But this was just amazing. Do you have a Tuscany video? We’re going later this month… My great grandfather was a conductor on that Red Car. He built cabins in Newport (that my family sadly sold before I was born). My mom lived in those cabins, My dad moved here in 1947. We paddle and sail the harbor, dad tells stories of swimming across the harbor mouth, so many beach bonfire cookouts. (grandma called them “weenie bakes”) This is the precise list I would give any visitor. In almost the exact same order. Starting with the ferry. Would love to see the next 25 minutes.
Beautiful video, I love the personal stories. It is really hard to cover Southern California because we are such a diverse place. I have to say I was surprised to see a documentary about Orange County and not see Disneyland or at least Knott's Berry Farm (America's First Theme Park), but I do want to say all Californians are intrinsically linked to the sea (even those out in Imperial County) and you did amazing job of showcasing that feeling.
Thanks Samantha Brown,I've have been a huge fan of yours for a long time. Born and raised in Palm Springs 1961,moved to Huntington Beach after high school, just found your you tube channel, you did a PS edition, now this on OC.Thanks so much, I really appreciate your work!!😊❤
It’s VERY refreshing this series chose to show the ALTERNATIVE lifestyles of Orange County……and not the materialistic, and narcissistic reality of the VISIBLE Orange County full of $15,000 Hermès and Chanel handbags, overdone plastic surgery, half million $ Lamborghinis and Ferraris and Rolls Royces, and $30 million, 15,000 sq ft. mansions.
You were in my backyard Sam. I’m an OC native. Welcome. As an Asian American, OC is the most diverse demographic area in SoCal. You saw Westminster, but there are also Garden Grove Korean District, Irvine , a little Chinatown.; and Costa Mesa has a little Japantown. As glamour and tourist popular Newport and Huntington Beaches are, I think the real Gem of OC are San Clemente and Dana Point. Beaches are just as beautiful but less crowds. San Clemente was know as Nixons second White House. Whale watching at Dana Point and also Catalina Island Express stopping point. I traveled to many countries. I still have yet to find a better place to live.
Great video!! I live in Huntington for 33 years & counting. Weather is Superb!! I don't have air, don't need it, & our heating gas bill never goes over $40/mo in the winter. Moved out from Indiana, never looked back.. Every Ethnic restaurant here in OC.. yummy STILL, Not much in the gay life around here... 😢
Releasing the seals to the ocean was beautiful and so sweet.

thanks! Our plan from day 1 was not to feature the parks but instead the family businesses in the county.
