Easy On Me
Both Angelina Jordan and Adele are under the Republic Records / Universal Music umbrella, 12 hours after Adele released "Easy On Me," this video was dropped on the internet by AJ, and Adele has seen it. Adele wrote the song with its producer, Greg Kurstin, and it is about a broken marriage and a mother trying to explain to her son why it is happening. You have to ask yourself how a 15-year-old Angelina Jordan could do this song justice and give it the emotion it deserves? Here again, AJ takes on the impossible and makes it a classic as she always does.
As usual, grandma Mery is close, and even appears in this video with AJ. Mery has been a major powerhouse behind AJ, and they would be lost without each other. One genius helping create another.

doing this song that was titled 'Is This Better Than Adele?'. He shows how
Angelina's responses are so much warmer than Adele, which goes back to her
roots as a 'Jazz' singer, for there is no way a non-jazz singer, even one as great
as Adele' can match the emotion laden penetration Angelina brings to heartfelt
ballads. Her one and only, true musical mentor was the greatest inventive,
improvisational singer of all time, that being Billie Holiday. There's a reason why
she has said that if not for Billie, there would be no Angelina as the singer she is.
Angelina has mastered all the unique inflections of Billie, including 'breathy',
'whisper-like' releases, radical 'key' changes within sentences, and emotional output
that was 'Pure Billie', as well as many other facets of Billie's singing. If you listen to
Angelina's rehearsal in a sound booth of Billie's 'I'm A fool to Want You', you'll get a
great taste of elements Billie brought in a individual song and which Angelina has
incorporated in her singing to this day. I should add that Andreas shows how Angelina
actually 'out belts' Adele in the power section of the song, even though experts say her
lungs won't be fully developed until she reaches her mid 20's.

That dude playing the piano is Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.
AJ now lives in West Hollywood in Los Angeles, where the record company Republic Records has built a separate music studio for her. She states; "I feel incredibly lucky to have been signed by one of the biggest record companies in the world. I have my own studio where I make my own music. Wonderful reaction. Thank you! You said a couple of time "tasteful", and I believe that can be said about so many of her performances. And she is as good singing live than in studio, so my suggestion for a possible next reaction will be her recent appearance in the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony a few weeks ago. She performed Unchained melody live with a full orchestra giving us a stunning version of this classic song.

One thing that amazes me about this cover is that Angelina released this full video about 10 days after Adele dropped the song. She must have lived in the studio. She posted a TT short just hours after Adele's release. Looking forward to your next AJ reaction/video.
Angelina is a master weaver of texture. The depth of tone along with the blessing of skill and talent sets Angelina apart from all the rest.
Great video, guys! Appreciated all the music knowhow, the fun and the love. Jason, you said it was 'crazy' how a special singer can transmit emotion through wires and radio waves into our hearts. There is one absolute requirement which has to be present for that to happen, the singer must be genuine in their feelings when they are singing the song. Angelina is very genuine and very special. Another clue of why we are so literally in love with her is that she is singing FOR US, not only to us. And beyond that, when I say 'we' I can actually break it down even further. She sings for EACH ONE OF US. We listen to her and immediately she draws us into her world and we go there willingly and our one-on-one connection with the love in Angelina's heart is so profound, one in our heart it will never leave. When did all of this start? For a lot of us when she was 7 years old!

And for ME, after having followed her for 10 years, the performance is still my favorite by her. And it will take some beating, to put it that way. She performed it at her digital Christmas concert on December 23rd 2021, just a few months after the cover you just reacted to. Angelina was 15 years old in both. The piano player is Rob Christie. He is Republic Records studio director in LA. According to him this song was recorded the following day after Adele released it.
