WOW!!..I was not expecting that after seeing the thumbnail and title..what a great bloke Joe is..wish him and his family all the best for the future..😉
To correct Joe's statement about Tyson Fury. Both Tysons parents are Irish, not just his father. John is from Tuam ,Galway and his mother, Amber is from Belfast, Antrim.
Just watched this interview and enjoyed it thoroughly! What an interesting, decent man. His story helped me recall that when I was a child in Denver, CO, my grandparents (whom were of a Slavic mixture from what is now Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, and Poland), ALWAYS allowed (and had) Gypsy wagons on their property. Unfortunately my mother, whom was NOT Slavic (Scots Irish, French, and English mostly) prevented us from interfacing with the people in the ornate and colorful wooden wagons. It’s been good for me to learn about the warmth and integrity of these travelers: Thank YOU for having him on your channel.
Ir a lovely gentleman joe, I met u once had a pint in the ivy at ur father in laws funeral..wat lovely man he was too..I was his neighbour Irish traveller pat stokes magnolia st..fantastic testimony and interviw..ur truly blessed joe good on I mate👍🙏
I'm having trouble reconciling the bkb / golf pro combination. A friendly word of advice to Joe: stay away from that golf club, brother - those feckers well get you into trouble.
Gypsies and Traveler’s have only in the last few years got ethnic minority status. This means if he had it at the time. He could have claimed unfair treatment due to his ethnic group. Very unfair treatment. He was on the way to becoming a professional world class golfer. What a man pro golfer during the day and pro top class bare fist gypsy fighter on the night. You couldn’t get more diverse sports. He’s a great fella and fascinating to listen to. Another excellent interview Shaun and Jen. Thanks. Edit : the year 2000 ethnic minority status was recognised. Just Reading Tyson Fury’s autobiography and it seems he faced the same hurdles.
Not sure about this new set up Shaun some dumb questions being asked here, joes a real gent and speak very well but for me the questions ruined it a bit, seems like you need to do some more research- I mean the guys got a book out for fuck sake why not read it. You asked him how he is so determined- obviously from his parents and his upbringing as he described earlier on…
I love your guest, one critique, gypsies or Romani gypsies they all came from somewhere quite mysterious we're still trying to find out what.. I've done a deep dive and there is a documentary it's the DOM Dynasty , Dom Dynasty which was confused with ROM but also quite suited the word Roam, or Rome which meant to travel ... Their place of residence which was quite beautiful and they were very smart they were smitters..1 The majority of people who have the last name Smith come from that race a lot of them know it but there's a lot of them that don't know it. now even back then we are talking pre pre biblical times they made gold they were alchemist were wizards which they meant it was a witch as well, or that they could cast spells on you there's so much, I can go on and on but they were very wealthy and very smart people and they had to leave Home because of basically war they were gonna be taken over by I believe it was the ottoman Empire, so from there they took the white road or silk road, they went to China, then Other places and then they went , into northern India , where they were taken in beautifully or cared for and beautifully or kindly looked afther..where there is writings about these mysterious beautiful people , who had gold on them every part of their body that they could fit gold and were dressed in beautiful colorful clothing, and came with these amazing amazing wagons , that held basically a Mini home inside beautiful colored wagons that no one had ever seen before.. it is written about these people in books so they came to northern India, and they stayed there for quite a long time, where there is 20% of their dialect the gypsy , dialect is northern Indian A lot of them stayed but the majority left, and ventured into Europe, and also of course England and Ireland where they were taken as slaves and that the problem , taken as slaves in most places In Europe and uses for their knowledge on many many things that we have today, believe it or not, so if not for.. Being caught like that, and killed if you don't obey , to be a slave , that is why they ran and never were able to find a home.. not allowed to work as even though they had trades of many, still were not allowed to work unless they were slaves.. and they would get kicked out ..so they're pain and torture goes way way back.. way back if you wanna talk about problem with race in today's society.. this is what needs to be looked into gypsies , the Roma , people.. and talk about racism times a million.. But however there really isn't such thing as an Irish gypsy or a English gypsy except to say that we are born there, we are citizens , are from where we're born, for instance you can be in Italy but define yourself as a Italian gypsy ..you are in fact Italian but your ancestry is also that of a gypsy or a Rom, person... we're all the same we come from the same place and the old language everyone understands, it's an International language, that they speak, no matter if they come from India, or Portugal, it's the same , Roma language..
Joe's a top bloke no bullshit and the rest of the family top traveller family in west London little story my mums car got clamped the ticket people were shouting at my mum made my sister cry one phone to uncle Joe they went away with a good hiding and when they got back to there boss a good hiding off him for talking bad to women in the yard all the time
i can guarantee you gypsy joe smith is the nicest and the hardest man youve ever had on your show at a romany wedding you will not little bits of girls dressing like luvnies like the irish travlers do
I love ya Shaun a fan from the start..and I hope I don't offend ..but your co-host adds nothing..I would even say ..takes something away...I'm sure she's lovely..but comes across.. insincere...such a great story teller your guest...where's wild man when we needed him..would have been great on this one...great vid..but no side kick..
Why have a woman that laughs at the guests not with them.... u can tell shes from the port side.... not good when 90% of ur guests are starboard wat won the war

You don't need co-hosts Shaun. Your personality is comprehensive and entertaining. They will only detract from your podcast.
