As a hobbyist sound engineer I wasn't keen on the iPhone 7 because it doesn't have a headphone jack (yes I know you can use the lightning connector but recent tests suggest that might degrade sound quality a little). However, after seeing a waterproofing test where it survived down to 35 feet of water (WAY beyond what it's rated for) and this durability test? I have to say it's starting to look a lot more tempting...

iPhone 4s with the original double sided glass, both sides never replaced, never cracked, and been without a case for about a year. Typing this out makes me feel better about myself even though nobody asked, and nobody probably cares
There's nothing scientific about this test. The first iPhone I broke was a 6SPlus and it was from less than 4 feet - while sitting down. It fell on its face and shattered.
Side impacts send shock through the frame and create different shattering effects.
At the end of the day, you're just damaging perfectly good phones.

So, after switching to the iPhone 7 here’s a recap of my iPhone 6S I’ve had for 3 years: it’s bent, the whole back is completely scratched with the color coming off on the corners, all of the corners dinged up, the screen doesn’t go in all the way anymore and is chipped on the upper right corner, but it still works...not great, but it’s still able to make phone calls
Coincidence - Even if the phones were dropped a little differently it could make a huge difference. The weight difference of 5g is not enough to create that much more damage on the 6s than the 7

The screen cracked from the bottom left corner (point of impact) all the way across to the top of the screen & back across the left. Sooo tragic! Paint chipped off on several spots of the phone as well. I had a glass screen protector on the screen, too.
