I am older and of my goals is to preplan ad pay for our funerals. It will be a great burden off of the person who has to plan them, be it a spouse or our daughter. I think this is a necessary, even though most people don’t want to think about it. We purchased our burial plots 2 years ago. This year I would like to purchase our Monuments. We do have some life insurance that would pay most of the burial expenses expenses.

Good Wednesday morning Carter. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. Your financial planning skills are impeccable. I'm looking forward to retiring in 2023 and I most certainly appreciate your advice.
I am starting to work fulltime in April for the first time after my graduation. Planning to save 10000€ (same as US-Dollars). 5000 for a down payment for my new car and a few thousand for traveling and renovation. :) I love how organizdd you are
My husband and I had a small wedding in June 2021. We got married in front of the rocky mountains with our parents, sibs, and our best friends. 13 people total. We only spent $7k on the wedding and a 2 week honeymoon. I say only because most people spend more. My parents wanted to contribute and paid for our flowers. Very unexpected and grateful. We cut our cake and had drinks back at our cabin that night. No reception. The next day we rented a boat and spent the day with all our guests on the lake. We would not change a thing.

Your videos are so inspirational and really push me to be more mindful about my own financial decisions! I haven't officialy sat down and mapped out my financial goals for 2023, but the main one I'm toying with at the moment is to implement a question before every on-necesity purchase. For example, I work at a clothing store and find that I impulse buy pretty frequently and it's really effecting my ability to achieve other financial goals. I want to start asking myself "would future me thank current me for this purchase" and really take a moment to evaluate if it is a wise purchase or not.
Loved the video!! Financial goals are something I have really been focusing on since graduating college earlier this year. In 2022 I was able to open my first credit card, and pay off all my student loans. Some of my 2023 goals are to increase my credit score so that it is in the 800's, save money for a trip to Europe, and to save some money for a down payment on a house!
DVC member here! Have been for over 10 years! 10/10 recommend, feel free to DM with questions, as it’s a lot to consider and lots of clauses - especially in the last 3-5 years the program has changed a lot. :)
I've been thinking about my 2023 goals and I'm excited. Paying off my debt $23k that includes student loans for my daughter. Next a fully funded emergency fund. Maxing out my retirement which right now I have zero (I'm 54)
I have previously been great with setting financial goals and meeting them however my 2022 finances changed significantly. I saved for several years and my goals started with smaller items that consisted of a few hundred dollars, then i wanted a truck and trailer for my horses and achieved both those in 2020 (also splurged and bought newer cash only so that they would last), next financial goal was wedding and honeymoon which we achieved in 2021, next was wanting to buy a horse property within about 3 years well that fast tracked because we found the perfect place in 2022 and was above our budget. We have many updates and things to accomplish with property for goals however don't have much left over and to top it off, found out we were pregnant right after buying the new place, yay good changes but def affecting finances! We don't have many short-term goals other than making sure we are making progress on payments. We bought a bunch of equipment on contract for deed on 5 yr payoff but ideally we can payoff off sooner. Pay off student loans by 2024 but am in a program that as long as i stay in my current job until end of July 2024, I am in a scholarship program and that will get paid off by then. Husband will need a new vehicle in the mext 3 years as well. Definitely lots of goals but big expenses so will take some time! And new home will need a new roof in 3-5 yrs too.
I'm can say that I appreciate you being here and sharing your life. Your an inspiration and get me to get my butt in gear and not give up. Thank you so much
I made a very conprehensibe budget sheet that I love!! But I find myself just using to input my spending and looking at what I spent after that fact, where my goal (started in December) to plan ahead of time yet balancing that with mindful spending. It was also difficult to see myself spend more money then I did in the the past few years with COVID, and I actually got to travel a lot so it was great just working on a balance
I just discovered your channel over the summer so I didn't know you had gotten into your financial journey due to 10K of consumerism debt. The same thing happened with me and my husband and we just paid off our last $2,400 today! We made some big decisions this year that allowed us to pay it off within 6 months. Your guidance and monthly planning routines really helped me stay focused and on track. I also downloaded the budget template you use and that has been a game changer! For 2022 our next goal is to bulk up our emergency fund! I want $12K in a high yield savings account and then I think we're going to put the rest in a brokerage account to help fight inflation. Love your channel and LOVE these vidoes!
My 2023 financial goals are to 1) Keep throwing money towards my student debt (aiming to be debt free by 2024 but if not, I will be carrying very little debt into 2024) and 2) Keep budgeting (I have really started to like budgeting and it has become so addicting and motivating!)
Loved this video! Thank you for sharing 😊 I'm also a big fan of writing down my goals in my planner/notebook and breaking them down into smaller steps.
I'm interested to watch a reset video that focuses more on your business side, separate with your personal one. That's an interesting video idea, Carter. I hope you push through doing that next year. :)
I would love to try and do that but my only issue with that is there's just so much sensitive information I can't share like brand information, payment details etc. I use a very simple bookkeeping template alongside Quickbooks for my business and I've tried to show you guys before but it ends up being my whole screen blurred out which isn't helpful to anyone 🥲 But I will try!
I think taking a specific amount as a business paycheck is a great idea. I follow a UA-camr (Steph & Den) who does that full time and she takes a very strict budget from the business. You could also do a specific amount that MUST go straight into savings or invested from the business monthly. I’d highly recommend a business high interest savings if you don’t have one so it isn’t sitting in checking.
For my financial goals I want to achieve the value I set for my emergency fund, start saving money for my retirement, and spend less in my credit card. Loved the video! Happy new year for you! ✨❤️
Hi Carter, I bought your finance spreadsheet and I love it! I have one question: when you pay cash buying something in January, you put these expenses in January - simple. But how does it work when I buy something in January using my credit card? Should I still put it in January or in the month where actual payment is due? I can't decide which way makes more sense. Thanks in advance :)
I just want to clarify it's not MY spreadsheet, it's just one that I bought and love! It's really up to you, anything I buy in January on my CC I still track as a January expense and that would count as tracking your CC payment because it's already accounted for in your expenses!
❤ very nice way to spearhead the new year. I really like how you not only listed your goes, but have a way to execute them as well. Best of luck to you. You were going to be very successful.❤
We're still doing our research and figuring it all out but it's important to note that Disney isn't a traditional timeshare like you think. There’s a misconception that timeshares are impossible to leave behind if they are no longer a good fit. That may be true for some but it’s not the case at all with Disney Vacation Club. The Disney timeshare remains popular and continues to add new resorts and you can use it worldwide and sell if it is no longer for you.
Dvc was the best decision we made for our family. Literally forces you to take vacations and if we can’t go, we rent the points and put that income into the balance of the dvc contract. There are a lot of ways to really make it work for you and financially over the decades that you can use it, there is no better way to visit Disney ❤
Thank you for posting this video right now, it came at the right time for me! I went to the bank yesterday because my 2023 goal was to buy a house and I have all my ducks in a row (down payment and emergency fund). Sadly the rising interest rates and housing costs is making it not feasible to accomplish that goal until things calm down (who knows how long that will take). Kinda feeling stuck and wondering what my next year goals should be without feeling defeated….
As a DVC member myself, you honestly can’t go wrong!! I’m with you, total Disney lover and while I find it easy to utilize my points ever year, if there is ever a year I don’t need to utilize all of them it is so easy to rent them and earn some extra cash that you can use to offset dues. The quality of vacation with DVC is just top notch and there are some spectacular resorts that you can utilize outside of Disney World. I truly look at it as an investment!
Great video, thank you for your ideas and suggestions. You mentioned lining smaller goals, have you tried goals following The 12 week year plan. I think that seem doable for smaller goals that are in alignment with long-term goals.
Hi Carter good morning happy Friday morning and happy vlogmas day and happy December and happy winter season and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter
2023 goals: -Have my car paid off by June 2023 (birthday gift to myself) only have ~6,500 left to go and I'm already shoving ~850 a month toward it! lmao. I'll also be working 3 holidays and will probably shove anything from our tax return toward it. -Save for beach trip in June so it can be paid off before we go. -Start an emergency savings -Start saving for a house/baby -Increase my retirement fund thingy mabobber :D -I also have to increase my primary insurance plan in July because my secondary ends then so I want to get as much done as I can before that happens

Can you do a video on how you changed your relationship with money? I’d love to know how you changed from being a super spender to being a super saver. I’d love to change my mindset.
I have a few videos on my channel about it! But I wouldn't call myself a SUPER saver by any means- I just feel like I have a mindful relationship with spending!
Why do you feel uncomfortable sharing your mega wins like the 6 figure income year? I love when people share their numbers in these videos because it really excites, inspires, and motivates me to keep pushing! Thank you for sharing what you do share though 💖

Hi Carter, I loved this video! It truly helped guide me to set my financial goals for 2023. One of my biggest dreams for 2023 is to do at least 1 paid brand partnership on my social media. I've been slowly growing over the past couple years, I just had some major growth over on TikTok, and I have done a few ambassador-based partnerships that have made me a couple bucks. What I'd really like to do though is do one partnership where they pay me a set amount, and I would love if eventually I could make about an extra $50-100 a month from this! Sending big love
Spent past 15 months working all the hours under the sun to pay off all my debts. The plan for 2023 is to build an emergency fund and heavily invest in bitcoin, ethereum and Tesla. From 2024 onwards It’ll just be the S&P500 and property.
Hey Carter! I love your finance videos. I am looking to start budgeting in 2023..but I can't make my own spreadsheet. Any suggestions on one for a beginner? Thank you from a fellow Canadian from nova scotia!
From someone with some recent ish experience the past three years with the exact same things. Don't do the timeshare and get married as soon as you are comfortable.
Disney timeshares aren't really your traditional timshares that get such a bad rep! We're doing plenty of research and still deciding if it's best for us! Informed decisions only 🥰

One of my big financial goals is to pay off a lot of my 30K student debt 😅. Hoping Papa Biden forgives me 10K (but the Republicans keep on blocking him).
I'm barely starting to try to plan my life so I only have 2 financial goals that will encompass the year. I want to make $45k for the year, I'm almost at $40k this year. I also want to open my business and get that started already. I want to plan smaller goals each quarter as well but I'm not sure yet.
In the fall I’ll be a freshman in college, so my goal is to create at least two sources of passive income. Another goal of mine is to learn about investing.

Thanks for this!!! We're hoping to buy resale but will reach out if we have any Q's!
Yessss would love to see separate business and personal tracking expenses videos!
I'm can say that I appreciate you being here and sharing your life. Your an inspiration and get me to get my butt in gear and not give up. Thank you so much
🥹♥️
I made a very conprehensibe budget sheet that I love!! But I find myself just using to input my spending and looking at what I spent after that fact, where my goal (started in December) to plan ahead of time yet balancing that with mindful spending. It was also difficult to see myself spend more money then I did in the the past few years with COVID, and I actually got to travel a lot so it was great just working on a balance
Really motivational video, going to get my goals ready for 2023 and hopefully smash it, good luck with yours! :)
You got this! Thanks so much!
I recently read the book Profit First and it helped me learn how to pay myself for my side hustle small business!
Also a video idea: Sharing your financial journey! :)
YUP!! I was a reckless spender in college who didn't know how to budget... no shame honestly it kickstarted this awesome financial journey for me!!!!
My 2023 financial goals are to 1) Keep throwing money towards my student debt (aiming to be debt free by 2024 but if not, I will be carrying very little debt into 2024) and 2) Keep budgeting (I have really started to like budgeting and it has become so addicting and motivating!)
You got this girl!!
YES just made my 2023 financial plan and so ready to see everyone else's goals and plans!
WOOHOOO 2023 here we come🥰
You really inspire me. Thank you for your transparency and for discussing a taboo subject
That's what I'm here for 🤍✨💰
I think taking a specific amount as a business paycheck is a great idea.
Love all that!!
got into your videos by a youtuber who mentioned (i don’t remember who lol) but love it!
Love this! Gonna make mine this weekend ✨
I loved this video! Very helpful! Thank you 😊
Yay I'm so glad! ♥️
❤ very nice way to spearhead the new year. I really like how you not only listed your goes, but have a way to execute them as well. Best of luck to you. You were going to be very successful.❤
I could watch these videos forever ❤ you’re so inspiring!
Hey be careful with timeshares
Maybe you can do a video on the risks of timeshares and why you are still going ahead with one anyway?
Yes that's the best part of DVC is you won't ever lose money on it, it just grows over the years!!
Good things take time♥️✨
Would love to hear more about the career progression tracker
I'm working on it and will share in early January when I post my Notion tour!!!
Yes so true! We won't ever lose money on it!
Sure you aware of Dave Ramsey, he says no one should ever EVER buy a timeshare!!
@@tracynorman4883 i do not listen or believe in Dave Ramsey anymore😅
You have the best and most logical budget videos on UA-cam ❤🙌🏻
Wow, thank you!
love this, really inspiring me to get my finances in order for next year!!!
WOOOO 2023 is your year girl!!!
Love this so much!! Can't wait to do my goal setting next week, but you def inspired me to be more intentional because I'm usually so last minute 🙈
Eep can't wait to watch yours!!
Great video, thank you for your ideas and suggestions. You mentioned lining smaller goals, have you tried goals following The 12 week year plan. I think that seem doable for smaller goals that are in alignment with long-term goals.
Since I set monthly goals as well I have a good system going for me but always worth checking it out!
My goal is to pay off my home, replenish my emergency fund to $10,000 and to fully fund my Roth IRA..
Couple great books for your raise convo: never split the difference by Chris Voss and know your value by Mika brizinkski
Thank you!
Congrats on crushing so many of your 2022 goals!!! 🎉
Thank you!!
Hello Carter,
one of my 2023 goals would be paying off my credit card debt. By the way great video! :]
You can do it!! 🤍💵
@@CarterSullivan Thank you lovely , I'm wishing you nothing but success this up coming year!! 😘
Hi Carter good morning happy Friday morning and happy vlogmas day and happy December and happy winter season and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter
Mine is to be patient and to not stress
Love!
New subbie here from Hannah Olivia’s channel! Liked your format and style. Cheers to the new year! 🎉
I'll have to check her out!! Welcome♥️
Save for the wedding!! They are so expensive and saving a bit at a time earlier is such a good idea. I wish I would have done this!
Since we aren't sure if we even want a wedding (we are leaning towards eloping) we figured may as well save for it now in case we do want one!
@@CarterSullivan we had just our parents…had a beautiful lunch after..got my dress on the high street…everyone envied our choice 🎉
Do you have a video on mindfulness spending?
I have a few chatty money videos on it if you go through my videos of the last few months
Such a great video! I would love to hear more about your career progression tracker.
Coming soon!
2023 goals:
-Have my car paid off by June 2023 (birthday gift to myself) only have ~6,500 left to go and I'm already shoving ~850 a month toward it! lmao. I'll also be working 3 holidays and will probably shove anything from our tax return toward it.
-Save for beach trip in June so it can be paid off before we go.
-Start an emergency savings
-Start saving for a house/baby
-Increase my retirement fund thingy mabobber :D
-I also have to increase my primary insurance plan in July because my secondary ends then so I want to get as much done as I can before that happens
Thank you sooooo muchhh Carter for sharing this videooo because I was eagerly waiting for this video and I love your videos so so much and I wish you reach 80K Subscribers very very soon!💫💞😭
Invest and save as much as possible! I bought my first home in 2021 so 2022 was a lot of expenses and saving up funds again. Also try not to let the economy get me down
you inspire me Carter! My 2023 financial goal is to save 30-40k in my savings.
New to your channel. Just found this video. I just started budgeting in august. Never thought about setting any goals. Thanks for the insight. My goal is to get my debt down to 1/2.
You can do it!
Where is that spiral bound dot grid from?! I tried one on Amazon and the paper was sooo thin lol not conducive to darker pens when planning
I want to say Walmart!
2023 financial goal for me: pay off all my debt!
One of my 2023 goals is to sell my house and reinvest in a mountain property!
Why do you feel uncomfortable sharing your mega wins like the 6 figure income year? I love when people share their numbers in these videos because it really excites, inspires, and motivates me to keep pushing! Thank you for sharing what you do share though 💖
I love this perspective!
@@CarterSullivan Yay! I totally understand that once the numbers start getting to certain point it begins to feel different as I've seen a lot of creators go through that. However, from the other side as a viewer and someone who's working towards that, it peaks my curiosity and interest so much more!
♥️♥️♥️
Spent past 15 months working all the hours under the sun to pay off all my debts. The plan for 2023 is to build an emergency fund and heavily invest in bitcoin, ethereum and Tesla. From 2024 onwards It’ll just be the S&P500 and property.
Hey Carter! I love your finance videos. I am looking to start budgeting in 2023..but I can't make my own spreadsheet. Any suggestions on one for a beginner? Thank you from a fellow Canadian from nova scotia!
The spreadsheet I use is linked in the description- I just bought it on Etsy and there's tons of other great ones on there!
I want to save $10,000 in 2023!!!
Hey! one of my goals is to be able to save up for my weight loss surgery
I'm going to make a very big and broad goal of saving up $50,000 in 2023! Couldn't tell you how i'm gonna get there, but it'll happen inshallah.
WOW that's amazing!!
the only thing that I want to say it it's I loooooooove uuu
hehe love you tooooo
I didn't expect this😭😭
Hi Carter, great video! I know you're in healthcare now, but was wondering what your bachelors degree is in? Thanks :)
Psychology!
From someone with some recent ish experience the past three years with the exact same things. Don't do the timeshare and get married as soon as you are comfortable.
Disney timeshares aren't really your traditional timshares that get such a bad rep! We're doing plenty of research and still deciding if it's best for us! Informed decisions only 🥰
@@CarterSullivan I’m gonna look into it now. The word timeshare has destroyed me once before. I hope it’s different
Increasing our income streams from 3 streams to 6 streams of income. This year is a building year for us.
LOVE
Hey Carter! I own a business & was really lost when it came to the business income & what to pay myself…Then I read the book Profit First. Since July I have been doing the Profit First method & after it’s set up, it is such a breeze & I love paying my bills & myself now! I would highly, highly recommend reading the book & trying it out!
I'll have to read that! Thanks so much for sharing🥰
My main goals are to pay off about $3000 in credit card debt and pay off one vehicle which is about $3000 as well. Fingers crossed that’ll be done by March
Crossing my fingers for you, you can do it!!
Hey Carter! Do you have a video for your career tracker on Notion or a link to a template that we could reference? :) I'm interested in learning more to implement it into my own career. Thank you!!
It's still a work in progress but I will share it in the new year! 🥰
pay off my 3k consumer credit card debt, pay off my car loan, and build my emergency fund ❤
My goals are : 1rst half of the year : save a 5000$ emergency fund. Second half : max out my RDSP (registered disability savings plan)
Can you share the career progression tracker ?
Yes! Its just a Notion template I created but I plan on doing a whole Notion walk through in the new year!! 🥰
Money goes fast and takes time to save
One of my big financial goals is to pay off a lot of my 30K student debt 😅. Hoping Papa Biden forgives me 10K (but the Republicans keep on blocking him).
Fingers crossed Joe SHOWS UP AND FORGIVES IT FOR YA
What do you use to check your credit score?
Just my bank!
I'm barely starting to try to plan my life so I only have 2 financial goals that will encompass the year. I want to make $45k for the year, I'm almost at $40k this year. I also want to open my business and get that started already. I want to plan smaller goals each quarter as well but I'm not sure yet.
Yes I'm all for smaller goals to kickstart that fire of motivation!!
In the fall I’ll be a freshman in college, so my goal is to create at least two sources of passive income. Another goal of mine is to learn about investing.
