These guys are absolutely the bar in which all content streamers are trying to reach. I've been around to remember the last time Elliot won a die roll...they've always worked very hard to put out fantastic content.
When it comes to missing triggers, general rule we use in my playgroup is that if it contains the word “may”, then it’s remains missed and unresolved. If it doesn’t, then by rules of the game, it’s a mandatory trigger. So once the trigger is noticed as being missed, it hits the stack. We would have let Jim’s commander’s end step trigger resolve even if the following player began their turn. Since we’re playing casually after all. 😉
I think Alex missed every draw-for-player-combat-damage trigger for Bellow's animated artifacts / enchantments, and also neglected to read that part of the card out so might not have been aware it was supposed to happen. Oops. The deck looked real powerful in spite of being down several cards from what it 'should' have been.
He miss played allot. The racoons turns the enchantments and artifacts into 4/4 elementals during the battle phase. So. They would come in with a counter since they aren't creatures when he casts them in his main phase. So, it even out, he didn't draw, yes. But. He also gave extra counters. So. Give and a take lol
On Day 1 of the Bloomburrow Spoiler Season i saw on Reddit a Post about "Peace Offerin" with the Title "Is this the worst Precon ever printed?"". Well, from all th Deck Previews i can tell that this one is on the stronger side of the Preconds and with Upgrades it opens the doors to Hell! Awesome
yeah that deck doesnt need much tuning up to be High Power. Ms. Bumbleflower is quietly really good. there's a reason she's the only one out of the precons actually getting some testing in cEDH, which is unheard of for a Politics style commander like this(mostly cause she's in good Stax colors and can kill off a Food Chain loop)
The tool tips under the deck intros are some of my favorite parts of these episodes, and I assume it's always someone witty like editor fil responsible. Major kudos, whoever is doing those, they're hilarious (truly) 😂😂😂
Hello Alex! As always a great video, I help myself a lot to see what direction I can take with my new Bloomburrow deck. A big hug from the commandeiros of Brazil thank you
This game reaffirming that Bello is really cool and, in addition to mindless violence, can also get some really cool shenanigans with stuff being creatures. But, I think it also makes a case that Perch Protection might be the coolest card in the set. Gifting a turn but making yourself mostly immune to what happens during it whilst preparing an army to help close the game out after is seriously cool.
Question, at the end there, wouldn't the elephant from 'generous gift' have triggered warstorm surge, meaning Alex could've killer Ms. Bumbleflower and not died?
Bumbleflower was at 11 toughness but he probably could have shot a flyer. Which would bring the damage down to 13, but if Jan had any other instant he could get it back to lethal. EDIT: I think the generous gift was played precombat so really Jan would have just needed any other spell at all in hand to pump back up to lethal precombat. And he had a grip full of cards that he could play for free.
I decided to do my own little upgrades to the gruul enchantment deck since I just got it today. One of the things I've dropped in? Bramble Soverign. Nothing quite like doubling up on enchantments I really shouldn't have extra of right? The deck's sweet though and I look forward to tweaking and messing with it more!
All really good Precons if you know what your doing or can figure out what your doing. Never played a Squirrels/Aritocrats deck like the Golgari one but I did pretty well with it and enjoyed how it played.
yep! one of the early discussions around Zinnia was Evoke Solitude, Offspring 2 giving you two StPs and a 1/1 lifelink(that could then be Populated or whatever) the other early convo was cheap clones like Phantasmal Image giving you two copies for 3U
Love the videos. One thing I would prefer though is if you guys would use diff dice colors for +1/+1 counters and the amount of tokens/creatures. I think Jim actually did this in this game. But the dice still werent the same color.
Noob question: how come the enchantments and artifacts entering while Bello is in play are triggering themselves? Wouldn't the effects only become active after they ETBed? Does that mean for example a 4/4 creature that reads "when a creature with power 4 enters you draw a card" would let you draw a card by itself when you cast it?
Many things that would normally trigger themselves are worded specifically so they don't. Bello's animating ability is a static ability, meaning it's always just on. So when the non-creature spell resolves and hits the board it is immediately a creature too. I do this often in my monoG legends deck. Ashaya + Baru, Fist of Krosa means every creature entering causes Baru to trigger since he triggers on Forests and Ashaya says every creature is a Forest. Baru even triggers from himself in that instance.
What a game! At first I wanted to scream at Jan for giving Alex the extra turn, but then he played the Perch Protection and got him to kill everyone else.
Grabbing Bello myself when the set is out. I don't like that the precon itself is very unfocused, but even if they don't work, I need some of the reprints for other decks.
I feel like Helm of the Host could be good in Hazel, but it might draw in a lot of hate because it'll make exponential tokens if you can copy Hazel. Unless I'm reading it wrong.
16:05 Panharmonicon is actually even better than bill thought it was. Offspring is an etb ability, so that gets doubled, too. Shoulda gotten an extra offspring and two extra spirits. ignore me pls
With this set I feel like I’ll make a deck with Hazel and Camellia. One seems food and squirrel focused and the other seems token focused with big spell payoffs. At first camellia was going to be squirrel kindred but I realized you really need food and not all squirrels make food 😢. Anyways, looking forward to see how you all built hazel and ms bumbleflower
With Panharmonicon on the field: when you pay for the offspring cost on cast does that mean that you still only get one token copy or does the resolution of the effect trigger when the creature Enters and you therefore get 2 token copies? Thanks in advance (didn’t watch the full episode only the intro with upgrades rn)
Zinnia's reminder text for offspring says: "You may pay an additional (2) as you cast a creature spell. If you do, when that creature enters, create a 1/1 token copy of it." So you are correct, creating the token is a ETB trigger that Panharmonicon doubles (without having to pay an additional (2) for the second trigger).
So regarding Zinnia... Personally I see that this deck has it's calling at being an aggressive aggro deck. I believe cards like Looter il Kor or shoreline looter are massive value for the deck if you offspring them. Additionally to that I'd use evasive beaters that grow on their own while being cost efficient to offspring them (Ledger shredder) - or simply add the most oppressive card for this deck Nesting Dovehawk - offspring it, go exponentially out of control due to it's populate - I mean.... you get a 5/5, a 3/3, a 2/2 and a 1/1 for 6 mana.... which all will grow by at least +4/+4 in the turn they can attack (then +8/+8, +16/+16 and so on)
at 13:24 Alex's first enchantment elemental creature shouldn't have died because it was indestructible, also one of Jim's saprolings had summoning sickness and shouldn't have been able to attack at 24:40
Another fantastic include for the Hazel deck would be Beledros Witherbloom. Fills a similar role to the tendershoot dryad but can net a lot of life and give you a pseudo second turn. With as much mana you were generating it would have been a non-issue to spend a couple extra to play out the giant elder dragon. Plus a flying blocker was very clearly needed in that game.
Weird how npn said zinnia was the strongest, yet I always see it underpreform in matches. Not once was the jeskai precon a real threat or in lead, not even with the upgrades.
The Warstorm Surge doesn't trigger itself? it's effect isn't on the field until after the Surge landed. Jim was right to question it. I am a noob though, so please correct me if i'm wrong. Edit... reading the rules... i'm probably wrong. I am wrong.
@@myhairismessy3363 I'm a noob but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't. I researched a bit and found a judge ruling for "Uncivil Unrest" (enchantment that lets creatures enter with +1/+1 counter or haste) while Bello is in play and they said it doesn't enter with a counter because the effects on the card are only active after they successfully entered. I asked this question myself and everyone keeps explaining that artifacts/enchantments etb as creatures but that's obvious and not the point, the point is they shouldn't trigger their own effects while they are being cast because those effects are only active AFTER etb.
@@cryoboy Uncivil Unrest’s ability creates a replacement ability that affects how your creatures enter, so it can’t apply to itself because it’s not on the battlefield yet. That is correct and different from Warstorm Surge. Warstorm Surge’s ability triggers whenever a creature you control enters. Continuous effects that modify characteristics of a permanent do so the moment the permanent is on the battlefield (and not before then). The permanent is never on the battlefield with its unmodified characteristics. Continuous effects don't apply before the permanent is on the battlefield, however (see rule 603.6d). Example: If an effect reads "All lands are creatures" and a land card is played, the effect makes the land card into a creature the moment it enters the battlefield, so it would trigger abilities that trigger when a creature enters the battlefield. Conversely, if an effect reads "All creatures lose all abilities" and a creature card with an enters-the-battlefield triggered ability enters the battlefield, that effect will cause it to lose its abilities the moment it enters the battlefield, so the enters-the-battlefield ability won't trigger.
I was kind of iffy on Perch Protection cause Gifting a turn could so easily end the game, but man it's kinda good isnt it? it's the kind of card you want in this type of politics deck, gas someone up so they can take your other opponents out, then finish them off

They enter AS creatures so they trigger creature based etb effects. And yes, that would mean you draw off those enchantments!
