Don't worry Mark. I often confuse the events of my adolescence with Dazed and Confused, and I was only around for the last three weeks of the 70s. I really don't remember the time well. Maybe it was because I partied, or it could have been that I was a newborn.
Just picked up Arkanoid VS Space Invaders on mobile, and it's one of the few good cell phone games I've played. That and Downwell are awesome, and are worth a look.
I have a copy of this one, though it's the regular single release, it also came bundled with Puzzle Bobble 2X (which I also own as it is a cheap import for the Saturn). Always laughed tht a game this simple wound up on the Saturn, but in the end it's classic Space Invaders, and that's all that matters. SNES also has a pretty spot on version of this game as well. I still prefer Majestic 12 and Akkanvader though, the latter literally a Taito parody of their own Space Invaders games with a cute twist. Thank goodness for Taito Legends and Taito Memories for having all those versions of Space Invaders (though I prefer to play the Japanese SI 91 due to the branching path system, that's where Taito Memories comes in handy).
Has Mark ever played Space Invaders Infinity Gene for Xbox 360 or PS3? It's a pretty good recreation of Space Invaders, even though it's sadly the last one I've seen as of right now.
TIP. At the beginning of each wave, shoot 22 shots, then shoot the UFO for a maximum of 300 points. Then shoot exactly 14 shots thereafter before shooting the UFO for the max of 300 points again throughout the wave.
Has their ever been a Space Invaders/ Pac-Man cross over? They were together in the Adam Sandler movie Pixels. But that movie will just make you break down into tears if you watch it.
Ah, Space Invaders....I remember my elder brother found this machine in the Holiday Inn we were staying at (would have been 1979, when I was 17). We sucked horribly at it at the time.
Akkanvader, aka Space Invaders 95 Attack of the Lunar Loonies would like a word with you, even if it is a Space Invaders parody with playable Sayo Chan from Kiki Kaikai/Pocky & Rocky.
all these years and we're still talking about the funky chicken. Nice. yasi on the vectrex though is also a good space invaders clone because it almost looks raster
Space Invaders & pac-man?, try Round 42 from 1986 for DOS. Round 13 is what you're looking for. Great game that's similar to megamania for the atari 2600.
Randomark3087 I think I've seen all 4 of those variations. The one with the planet background is done with a painted backdrop and a mirror that reflects the image of the recessed monitor onto a piece of glass.
I just recently re-stumbled upon the Undertow channel. Man, there were a few things I always wanted to send to Derek but I was too young and didn't really have easy access to postage, boxes, the know-how to actual send stuff. I miss the loony-ness of Undertow...
No wonder taito brought space invaders to the saturn because the saturn was sooo complicated to program for, so they decided just to port a simple game to it,wich only uses 1 ounce of the sega saturn's strength, hahaha.
"I used to get high as a kite in my friends van" LULZ!!
I never knew that Space Invaders was on the Sega Saturn. You learn something new everyday.
Nintendozilla98 indeed now i need to track it down.
I remember '78, but I played Space Invaders at the skating rink. There really weren't enough game cabinets to make an arcade yet.

Weird I didn't realize it was on the Saturn. Good classic review!

Yeah, 1978, I think that was the year I accidentally set my crib on fire (not much has changed I guess).
Has Mark ever played Space Invaders Infinity Gene for Xbox 360 or PS3? It's a pretty good recreation of Space Invaders, even though it's sadly the last one I've seen as of right now.
Why is there not a Space Invaders Futurama cross-over game yet.
TIP. At the beginning of each wave, shoot 22 shots, then shoot the UFO for a maximum of 300 points. Then shoot exactly 14 shots thereafter before shooting the UFO for the max of 300 points again throughout the wave.
Do they have the version with the Rush mixtape?
Has their ever been a Space Invaders/ Pac-Man cross over? They were together in the Adam Sandler movie Pixels. But that movie will just make you break down into tears if you watch it.

Can we see some more PS Vita reviews maybe?
Really Mark? A Space Invaders review yet You never mentioned your all-Rush mixtape nor your 2 litre bottle of Shasta! Disappointing
lol
I have an all - Rush I - Pod.
super space Invaders 91 is the best version of space Invaders
Akkanvader, aka Space Invaders 95 Attack of the Lunar Loonies would like a word with you, even if it is a Space Invaders parody with playable Sayo Chan from Kiki Kaikai/Pocky & Rocky.
I gotta give you props, Mark, editing magic or no, you hit that UFO WAY more often than I can.
all these years and we're still talking about the funky chicken. Nice. yasi on the vectrex though is also a good space invaders clone because it almost looks raster
"earth is so messed up, like if you guys want it, take it" ha!
Well with Tekken 7 having Akuma from Street Fighter as a playable character, I'm sure Namco Bandai could pull of a Pac-Man/Space Invaders crossover.
I remember it. '73 here.
I didn't know SI was on Saturn. & I þouȝt I was a hardcore Saturn fan...
DU TU DU TU
DU TU DU TU

!!!!!!!!!
I sure hope this was a budget title on the Saturn, for like 1500 Yen or something
CarozQH yeah no one would buy this for 60,000 yen
When will he record games in 60fps, because often games he reviews won't look their best.
Space Invaders & pac-man?, try Round 42 from 1986 for DOS. Round 13 is what you're looking for. Great game that's similar to megamania for the atari 2600.
How many versions of this game are there?
Randomark3087 I think I've seen all 4 of those variations. The one with the planet background is done with a painted backdrop and a mirror that reflects the image of the recessed monitor onto a piece of glass.
JakeHarvey The barcade on 23rd in Manhattan has that one.
Over 9000.
Space Invaders, Asteroids and Pac Man are the best and most copied games of all time. Jersey Jack or Stern should remake them :)
love this channel, but i miss undertow. im guessing itll never happen again
I just recently re-stumbled upon the Undertow channel. Man, there were a few things I always wanted to send to Derek but I was too young and didn't really have easy access to postage, boxes, the know-how to actual send stuff. I miss the loony-ness of Undertow...
it dosent seem like it will come back, but ya never know, regular cgr almost went under, until patreon came in at the eleventh hour
The Mighty Megalink New channel?
ill check it out
great
The space invaders are actually invading for a certain intergalactic space arc...
More Playstation 2 reviews please Mark.
Yeah.. odin sphere, and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords would be nice
2:25 So funny because it's true
6:51 LOL
I would imagine that Kim Jong Un still plays this game for strategical purposes. (He would also claim to have invented it)
Well Saturn was known to have good arcade ports, although this is a good very primitive arcade port lol.
No wonder taito brought space invaders to the saturn because the saturn was sooo complicated to program for, so they decided just to port a simple game to it,wich only uses 1 ounce of the sega saturn's strength, hahaha.
Needs more blast processing.
Why dedicate an entire disc to space invaders
I was going to say that the Super Game Boy version was cooler. But then you showed off 2-player mode.
I just picked up Castlevania 2 and it came in a FuncoLand case. Im from the Midwest, we didn't have a FuncoLand.
Spirit of 76 and 8 ball deluxe.
They are invading because Adam Sandler movies suck!
ohdogwow2 lol
ohdogwow2 Then i say let them win! Maybe his movies will stop.
indeed can't they just destroy him and stop with the planet invasions!
FunkMastaMegaFlex qbert Say's what the fucking fuck gay dude?
Napalmburns qbert Say's what the fucking fuck gay dude?
👍❤️
I love how Mark is playing the 2nd player controller also because nobody wants to play that stupid game with him lol.
yay first to like :)
What an odd choice to release on the Saturn.
Not Interested.
The original Space Invaders is way better than the crappy remakes.
Dustin Nunn The first game I've played. The one remake that I like is space invaders IG.
Nah man the Atari port was the best.
I agree I just like that one too.
What remakes ? Unless you mean space invaders extreme.
First!
Get Crazy With The Cheese Whiz this is the reason why earth can't have nice things
It's charming how you think that such lazy content deserves a 40 second intro with endless product placement.
