Probably my favorite track off of One Foot in the Grave. It makes me feel a certain melancholy that I can't really describe. Hollow log is great too, but this one puts me perfectly in the middle of happy and sad.
Reminds me of Pay no Mind, they are both in E minor, so the melancholy is kind of by design in that regard. Also reminds me of a a Hawaiian slide song but drugged out at the end of the beach party.
I probably paid the same (40,- in Dutch guilders) CD's were ridiculously expensive in the 90's. But I still have it, it still plays and it's one of my favorite cd's of all times. So priceless really.
Agh... reminds me too much of hanging out with my ex, listening to this record on her miserably cheap turntable.. I was so happy with her.. I still kinda miss you Ali, even though everything went horrendously wrong at the end....

Might just be the best Beck song.
Finally figured out who the other dude on the cover is. James Bertram is his name. He played bass on this record.
He was also in Built to Spill
I thought it was Calvin Johnson for a long w
Isn't it Calvin Johnson from K records?
[edit] I guess you are right! It's James Bertram.
I love this entire album. Found it on cassette sometime in the 90s and have had these tunes going through my head ever since!

I remember i had to pay like 25$ for this CD because it was an import. (out of print and before Napster)
sirkowski This CD is amazing.
Imports seem to be expensive when being imported into the Uk
